Hey, may I ask you for a Mac version?
@yogurtthehorse Sure! It's on itch.io now, i hope it works on MacOS, I dont have a way to test it :s
@litos, yah, it works. I really like your style. But turned out there is not much of content :( but anyway liked it
I like the art and the idea but it wasn't really fun. I couldn't figure out a good strat and the game was very unforgiving
Simple but effective. I liked the clean art style.
I got stuck on level 2. I defended the reactor but the level never ended and I just ended up sitting there. I could turn off all my towers and eventually my reactor bar went to 0. Not sure what happened... :( unstable.png
@minibobbo We added the second level in the last second and we didn't really test it, there's only two levels so you didn't miss anything :s
I love the minimalist art! The gameplay is also solid, despite only having two levels. The game mechanic feels like a hybrid of puzzle and tower defense, which is something unique I haven't seen before. I think all this game needs is some UI polish and more levels, which are obviously hard to do given the game jam's time constraint.
Nice art bro
Nice idea, but realisation is not really good. Cannot reach second level. Only 3 towers, without any description, so i have to figure out what they do on my own. Graphics is pretty good, idea and theme correlation is too, anything else is kinda unfinished.
Took a few losses to realise the towers were increasing the reactor load. But after I got that, I got through the two levels. Needs a little more explaining about why the reactor was constantly exploding.
This seems like a very solid foundation for a game! I love the aesthetic and basic gameplay seems servicable. A little more time and content and I can see this become a lot of fun :)
Does the game have Audio? Because I wasn't able to hear any. You can opt out of the category if there is no sound to rate ;)
@purrseus Thanks! No we didnt have time to add audio :s
FYI, to run this game on my mac I had to run the command mentioned here: https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/372084/macos-catalina-app-is-damaged-and-cant-be-opened-you-should-move-it-to-the-t
Nice game! I first started playing without reading the instructions which didn't go so well :P but then I came back and made it through both levels after a few attempts. I did it twice because I wasn't sure if I missed anything. I did run into a glitch where the game got stuck sometimes, I just closed it and restarted.
Some suggestions:
I think sound effects would really help here. It felt a little bit empty without them. If I was going to suggest one change that would be it. You can create some sound effects pretty quickly using SFXR, there's an online version here: https://sfxr.me/. Usually you can add them in fairly quickly in like half an hour or so, so it can be worthwhile trying to get that in during the jam if you can (That said, I didn't end up having time to add sound effects to my game this time :P )
For me the game screen was really small, so a way to scale that up would be good. Maybe a 2x or 3x pixel scale option? Not necessarily something worth spending time figuring out during the jam, but if you think you're going to do a similar art style next time, you could figure that out now and then you'd know what to do next time.
Anyway, well done! I really like the art! And, looks like this is your first Ludum Dare too? Nice!
I had trouble getting to the second level, besides that it worked.
Fun idea, making a tower defense game a much more active experience, I liked the idea.
I wish there was a longer startup period, before the enemies showed up, so I could prepare.
Well done!
I really like the monochrome art. It would be nice to be able to set up before the wave starts spawning also, maybe have a button to click that starts the wave.
