Not a bad endless runner / shmup type game! I like the pixel aesthetics (could probably use slightly more color?) and the background music is a good vibe too. Nothing too surprising or unique in the game design, but it runs well at least. Not sure if the stars do something (upgrade??) or if they're just worth more points.

Good endless runner althougt I could find the pause menu if it exists.

bw-devel 2021-04-26 19:50

Things I liked: - a really enjoyable runner/shooter - great graphics - great sound - fun to replay

Improvements: - a scoreboard that keeps track of your best scores(highest score, highest phase) so you can compete with yourself - perhaps some powerups to modify the experience occassionally

Bugs: - not really a bug; but a game that encourages you to be at the far top of the screen results in a lot of deaths because you clicked in the browser address bar |D

Loved the music! Would be nice to add some kind of downside to fireing (I was just kept holding the button all the time), like a power bar of some sort. Otherwise nicely put together!

pxldev 2021-04-30 13:50

Well made, But it took a while to get used to the controls. It would have been great to tell the player what they were suppose to do.

max-xd 2021-04-30 14:05

I actually really enjoyed this game! Good work! Props for the music!

Hey, we made similar but incredibly dissimilar games... mainly just user follows mouse through pathway. Anyhow. Good Game. Curious, did you manually map the collision bounds on the thinner hallway sections? Loved the music, tron vibes, it was a great addition to a shmup, its always so difficult to balance sound/software/art/design in the tight time schedule. At first I played on my laptop and trackpad, so it would have been nice to have an alternate fire button, I get that this is far from the ideal way to play one of these fast paced precision movers, so tried on the big rig with the mouse, which obviously worked much better.

Overall well done, cohesive, playable, enjoyable.

Pretty tense, I think it's great! (It was hard to fight my natural tendency to stay close to the bottom...) The way the gameplay speeds up (the enemies, the scrolling speed and my own firing speed) makes the game feel really tense, and the music does a great job of adding to that. Looks good too.

Managed to get 42000, at that point some level transitions are almost impossible Really fun game, looks simple but clean, music is nice. Great job!

Solid arcade shooter. The audio is good and I really like the explosion graphic.

Thanks for submitting! I hope my in-stream feedback was helpful!

@mduo13 thanks! The stars increase your fire rate. It’s by such a small amount you would never notice until you’ve collected 5 or 6 of them. Appreciate the feedback!

@bw-devel wow, thanks for the detailed feedback! You’re totally right, I should have added some upgrades and a high score save. It honestly wasn’t even me running out of time, I just got really lazy at the end and figured it was good enough lol and the bug you mentioned is something I hadn’t even considered, but I did notice that being a problem when I’m up high. I’ll have to look into a good way to fix that.

@generalsturgeon thanks! Honestly the music was the first thing I made and then I designed the whole game around it, so that means a lot :) and yeah, the bullets are really annoying, I’ll have to fix that for my next game.

@pxldev i appreciate the feedback! I was hoping the controls were basic enough that I could leave that off of the screen, so its good to hear i still need to consider it. thanks!

@max-xd thanks! That means a lot :)

@acuriosity thank you! This was some great feedback as I honestly hadn’t considered track pad users. I’ll have to make sure that’s an option in future games. For the little maze sections where you have to follow the path, I physically drew out a bunch of designs and the game just chose from one of I think 4 options. Gms2 has a setting for the collision mask where you can make it precise per frame, so I used that for the collision masks and it did all of that for me.

@reheated thank you! I was going for a tense vibe, so glad that it worked :)

@bauke-regnerus thanks! The explosion took awhile so I’m glad it worked for you.

@shaunjs thank you! It was great being on your stream!

First of all thanks a lot for playing our game on stream, and thanks for the feedback !

Nice game overall, loved the graphics and the music/sound effets. As was said before a high score counter would have been a nice touch but that's about it. The game feels nice, polished, and you managed to make me wanna play it again & again to improve my score. Good job !

✔️ Very quick and snappy game play. The fact that enemies died in one hit was a good move.

✔️ Very intuitive gameplay, no tutorial needed!

➖ I would have maybe made the stars a different colour to communicate they weren't obstacles.

tauheed-game-dev 2021-05-01 05:31

Super cool game man, love the retro style and it really gets crazy later in the gameCapture.PNG

digital-bacon 2021-05-01 12:53

Not a bad little game. Nice clean graphics, simple controls and classic gameplay. Only gripe is with the web version: it's too easy for the mouse to move out of the play area leading to loss of control or worse (the number of times I switched to another tab when the action got a little too frantic... )

Well done!

thegreenworm 2021-05-01 13:57

I got 11000 ! Nice shmup, i like how the difficulty ramps up over time

crispybun 2021-05-01 18:03

I could see myself spending more time than I should if this was a polished mobile game lol. The destruction of the things was super satisfying, great job on that. And I really liked how quickly you could get your weapon to shoot eventually. If this was to be an actual polished endless runner tho, I'd definitely do something about the rock sections, because while it's super satisfying to do them in fast speeds, eventually it speeds up so much it probably isn't even humanly possible to get through them. Gj!

holtzzy223 2021-05-01 21:12

Hope ant of my in stream feedback was helpful!

cogcomp 2021-05-02 09:13

Very nice endless shoot'em'up with exciting music an ok difficulty threshold. It's always fun when I'm able to stay alive for more than a couple of seconds  quite addictive as well. The rocks and ships were very well made. With a a bit of work on the background graphics this would've looked great! Well done!

oadt 2021-05-02 11:43

Great music and cool art style (thanks for sharing the palette you used!) Classic but very well executed gameplay, it is fun to play

felo07 2021-05-07 00:40

Beautiful art, colors, the music is amazing. The ship goes to fast! its very difficult to control, good game
