Not a bad little platformer, checkpoints would be good though, especially for a jam game. Also really struggled to hit the enemies. Art is nice and the sound was creepy

Super cute. A check point at the drop section would have been really nice.
It was a great conncept, felt a bit stale though.
Nice entry! I especially liked the graphics and mood. The movement felt a bit too floaty for my taste. The doublejumping was working kind of unreliable. I honestly wouldn't even mind, if the leveldesign wasn't so punishing. The first point being, that you have to start all over on a pretty long level. Maybe checkpoints, or if you don't have the time for that, just shorter length levels would help. The second thing is, that there were a few too many dead ends. It kind of adds to the first point. When I learned the new ability in the second level, it feels wrong to run in to a dead end the first time I use it. But maybe that's just me ;) Overall - good job!
Cute game! I agree with tim's points. One thing I would add is that the ranged attack doesn't seem to work if you're moving horizontally (I assume that's unintended). I also really like the unsettling sound effects
Good game, nice and pleasant graphics. Beautiful levels. The sound is a little harsh but that's ok.
A bit floaty but otherwise controls well. Graphics are nice but there is definitely room for polish (some animation would be nice and graphical feedback for hitting things). There is audio feedback for most things which is good but there should probably be some for the jump as well. Not sure if the demon guy could hurt me, I stood on his head for a while and then gave him some slashes until the game ended.
the sprites were cute and the tilesets looked pretty good!
although the level design was pretty hard to navigate as its hard to see whether its a bottomless pit or somewhere you can land and the gaps arent really suited for the angle of the jumps which made it prety annoying, even with double jumps :/ and is there supposed to be health?? which is not clearly shown also the sounds were pretty well made, although the volume and the duration can be real distracting
good effort! :p
The art was nice and the game had a good relation to the theme. I liked the variety of enemies and the introduction of new mechanics from level 1 > 2.
The ranged attack volume needs some balancing - it was really loud compared to the background track.
I also would have liked to see a checkpoint system in the game. I died 3 times at the end of level 2 during the part where you fall through the vertical spike part, and at that point my motivation to go back and finish the level was spent.
Pretty solid for your first compo entry, Good job!
Great game, It was a bit hard to know which way to go at some points though, the art style was really cool. Good job!
Great looking game, nice sound too. Good job! As others said a checkpoint system would be very helpful as the levels are quite long.
Managed to finish the game
Pros:
- Good graphics - Clear level-design - Nice and pleasing to eye color palette - Intuitive controls
Cons:
- No coyote time to help player with jumping puzzles - No animations - Skeletons can shoot while being backwards to you - No health / damage indication - No more of lava-effects (any particle system would do) - Lacking checkpoint system (damn the 3rd level put me into pain) - Confusing change of pace between 3rd and 4th stage (falling down arcade)
Keep up the work, add some animations and effects and maybe intro to the actual game. Good job nontheless!
Checkpoints sure would have been nice :-). I got far enough in to kill a few baddies, but kept dying during the big drops... I'm not sure how I'm supposed to anticipate where to move?
Also, I see other people commenting on the audio, but I didn't hear much other than the attack sounds and some barely audible whistling for the background ambience.
