Hey, this is pretty cool! I wish I understood the mechanics a bit more clearly, but I enjoyed a bit of experimentation. I think there is a bug with the root growth where if you grow two roots from the same point in quick succession, the first of the two will grow immediately. I started using this tactic to very quickly grow out, but I'm not sure if it was cheating or not.

The whole time I was playing I was hoping I'd be able to see an overhead view of my root system, so I was really excited to get that at the end. Super awesome that it looked somewhat realistic at the end of it too! I guess I make a decent plant?

Cool idea for the game like this mechanics

I really like the concept, plus the music and visuals create a very pleasant game experience. Not sure the game mechanics are that intuitive though, I couldn't figure out how to get deeper.

I really appreciate how weird and low-key this is! My favorite part is the music- it's so meditative and relaxing.Reminds me of Brian Eno. This could be really amazing if you worked on the visuals more

Needs a clearer description of how the game works but I do like the idea.

Very cool idea, though I have to say it doesn't seem like there's much to it once you get about 2 meters in. I don't understand what the point of the nutrients are since you can create vines without out it. It was really hard to understand how to play based on the instructions as well. I didn't feel it was clear that if you just click the dirt, your root will keep growing in the same spot it was already in and it felt like the game was bugging out. I think automatically updated you to the next root that was just created would solve this, then the player could choose the older root if necessary. Cool game though!

Really cool application of the theme. It's challenging since it is fairly easy to die, but I think something like this could also have a lot of potential as a hyper-casual relaxation game.

Interesting gameplay, however I never understood why the game ended when it did, that needs to be stated somewhere. I LOVE how you get to see your whole root when the game ends, it's super satisfying. The music is really nice and compliments the gameplay nicely. I like your wholesome instructions too :) great job!

So, as a game, this is kind of confusing and buggy, but as a technical demo it's really impressive. Watching the root system change on its own was really fascinating, and the interface for interacting with the roots is innovative. I love how the healthy roots are thick and the dead ones are thin and sickly. Really good stuff, and it's understandable that the playability of it didn't really pan out.

Great concept and great implementation

mighty-mufflon-games 2021-04-30 16:26

I don't get it, but I think it could be a really good game. Just needs some polishing.

chtimy 2021-04-30 19:28

I do not understand what to do, if you have any explanation ^^ Good job otherwise

krapht 2021-04-30 20:52

not sure why I would drop from +1500 to -30. Other then the game not ending i have no idea if I was playing correctly.
