good: nice idea to make it story-driven, and matches the theme. cute art. the slightly janky movement + sliding sword slash actually felt quite fun at the start.
bad: no actual gameplay/way to lose/choices etc, as far as I can tell? would be nice if e.g. different endings based on if you stop killing people, etc. I'm guessing you did all the story bits first and didn't have time though?
The link for your web version does not work. and I tried using the web version on your gamejolt page and that gets stuck loading.
@thedarkmagi Thanks for pointing that out. I had exactly the same experience with both links and am using Mac Catalina and safari (and Chrome doesnt work either).

@thedarkmagi @fabdynamic I looked into the problem, but could not get the unity webGL to work at all, I am very sorry for this
Go rate some games my friend
Despite it obviously lacking in actual gameplay, the art is really really pretty and the story is told satisfyingly and I loved the ending. Some music would be beneficial, though just having sound for sword strikes is still oddly effective. Overall I enjoyed it, thank you for taking the time to make this.
Really great storytelling. If I had to improve one thing it would be the level backgrounds. Are they apartment buildings? A little more gameplay, a little music and the right font would make this a perfect short story game. Congrats!
I see you wen't all in on the art, respect for that. I like 'samurai' theme. A few points I'd like to mention that may help you. 1. If you're doing a samurai game, your sword attacks should leave a huge blood splash 'Kill Bill' style, period. 2. The sword sound is kinda annoying to the ears, consider adding a little reverb or use equalizer to cut off some of the annoying frequencies. 3. The sound design is paramount for storytelling, if you're stressed out about compo rules, just go record some kind of ambient sound, anything, dead silence is a mood killer. 4. Use lighting, vignette effect, shadows, ray light beams, whatever, don't leave your game evenly lit, it's a mood killer. Congrats on your entry!
Simple but nice entry. Some feedback:
- Trivial: the zip could have used the game name instead of "Game" :-P - The gameplay could be more dynamic / have more variations. - I would thank a "Click to continue" on cutscenes (I know it is in the instructions, but as a reminder). - The sword sound is a bit loud comparing to the overall silence.
PS. I didn't expect the "cutscenes" graphics to be that "HQ" compared to the rest of the game xD

The game was really interesting, just as soemone telling a story. Perhaps some more gameplay such as timing the attacks would have been nice. But I really appricate what you were going for!
Always glad to see a story driven entry, but like the others have said the gameplay was lacking. Great job on nailing the theme too!

I noticed you could just hold the attack key and you would never be killed by other samurais, also sometimes you would lose your speed when killing a samurai even though when you attack, it gives you a boost forward, was this intentional? Overall I think this was quite fun and I can really appreciate the amount of effort you put into drawing the story in a pixelated art style, really well done!
well i beat the game by mashing S and holding D until i got to the "storyteller", but good job on the story, loved the picture slides.
only... bug? i encountered was on the last level while my katana was idle, haha.. one of the enemies tripped me, and i tripped him so we ended up crawling around. Ikke navngitt.png
