We managed to finish a completely working version of the game! Yay!
However, some things are not really well optimized, so we plan to release a "post-jam" version of the game on Itch.io later on.
One of the things that was left out of the final jam build was the dog's implementation. It looks weird, because you can hear the dog, but can't see him.
nice game!
Good concept. I wish the audio cue would repop when moving around though or it's easy to get turned around again.
This is a good game it actually sets a pretty good mood. It's also relaxing and calming, and I actually love this kind of graphics. Nice jam! :)))
Loved the art and sound design. There were some issues with the layering and I could not figure out how to actually finish the game, but I loved the atmosphere!
30 seconds on playing the game and I have to say it outstanding graphics bro
@cursedembassy, @giordas, @feiko, thank you all! We really appreciate the kind comments! :D
@tarvisplays Thank you! The layering problem is something we noticed on the final moments, while we were also fixing other stuff. But yeah, it's been fixed and will be on the post-jam version! :)
@nohua Thanks! I believe you meant the dog's barks. They were supposed to work under a different system, but due to other bugs we had to change how the system works. But thanks for the feedback! We'll work to improve this later on!
Loved the atmosphere of this game, the music and sound design were superb! The pixel art was crazy good as well, I must find this dog! well done :)
Great art and atmosphere.
I liked your game my congratulations, I also did one if you want to know, and give me your feedback I am very grateful, this is the link https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/resurrection
I like that you paid attention and included some ambient sounds in your entry; for the type of game this is setting the tone is really important. I like the visual variation between screens and I had no problem "finding" the dog, just a shame he had to remain invisible.
The fantastic audio, music, and art make for a really cool mix of relaxing and creepy atmosphere. I really enjoyed how the forest became progressive spookier and the things you come across are unnerving! Great job!
@coryru thanks!
@etrealjunior thanks! We'll check your game too!
@peringo @patrick1 @gregoryblomquist wow, thank you all very much! We're really happy to see that even though our whole idea couldn't be totally finished during the jam, we still managed to get some things right!
We're definitely working to improve the game and finish what we started, so if you're interested, please follow the game on Itch.io, as we'll soon be adding a new download option for an updated version of the game, with improved level design, the remaining sound and art implementations, and of course, the dog!
Nice concept! I loved the art style! Greato Jobu!
Very original concept and unique take on the theme. Great work!
Great game! The graphics are great, and I really liked the music and ambience! I did find that a lot of the sprites weren't sorted correctly (I had tree stumps floating in front of me for example) but I think that was the only issue I found. It was actually pretty fun walking around trying to find my dog - especially with the woods getting creepier and creepier the further I went. I did end up getting an ending, but I don't think it was finding my dog. Still can't figure that one out. Overall though, great game. Well done!
Confusing and disorientating, but a very cool lil' game. The art is great, and the mood set by the creepy atmosphere and confusing audio cues / discoveries of little bits of the maze is fab. I didn't manage to get to an ending, I did see a *spoiler* horrific demon dog, but luckily it seemed quite tame and didn't do anything haha.
Cool idea to use the audio cue to guide you through the level! I also like the art style, but in some places it looked like the sprites weren't setup quite right and there were some parts that looked like exits but weren't, and vice versa. The fade into darker and darker areas was cool too.
This was the game for me: I was just walking around in a moody forrest until "he suddenly left". I heard the dogs barking tried to follow it but didn't find it. I guess the goal is to find your dog and leave. This was very unclear until I read your description. Even after I read I didn't completely know what to do. The forrest was nice and moody and the music fit but aside from that I didn't enjoy the game. Just walking around is a bit boring. But maybe I didn't get he full experience because I didn't find the dog. Overall good-looking and sounding game with an interesting premise but it needs something more to be fun.
Nice graphics and music! I've managed to leave the forest, but I wasn't sure if that was the only ending. I saw a scary dog, but didn't know if he was mine, as the barks stopped and came back randomly! Nice experience!
Nice game!
