I loved the aesthetic and the physics.
The way to projectiles break apart is super satisfying, nicely done.
Nice graphics! Really enjoy the oldschool style! great work
Cute game ! The art is very nice, simple and efficient. Also the walking motion and camera shakes are really neat. I wish AZERTY controls was implemented so I could play the game easier, but I still enjoyed it.
I love the aesthic and graphics, hitting the enemy was very satisfying, great job! The only thing I would say is that I don't see the tie to the theme that much, although it is there. Feel free to rate my submission as well, great job!
Awesome graphics and animations. I like the battles also.
I love the way his feet plant :) First time I got shot I went flying but my feet stuck around ;) haha.. Fun stuff
There is a lot of very smooth and nice feedback in there, and I like the little details like your projectile setting things on fire. Those leg movements were hilarious sometimes. A big gripe would be how things came fast from out of screen wit no indication, sometimes made it hard to dodge. Good stuff overall!
I really like the aesthetics, the legs being a very nice touch. The wand picking up mechanic was interesting as well and hits felt nice and meaty. It took me 3 tries to beat the game and the final boss was a bit tough, but enough spamming did the trick.
Overall, a neat little game with some great art.
Rated! The visuals are really cool and the gameplay feels good. Could not beat the mage that throws arrows tho :(
Hope you get to the 20 reviews!!
Hey @e-e-wick !
so first things first, the graphics are solid, the arms and and legs stretching and the impact of projectile feels great (visually and on the sound design side) !
On the gameplay side, the progression is nice, it's cool that you had time/thought of putting in different types of spread for the enemmies attacks, it's a smart way to change the style of gameplay without having to change the level design. Final boss was definitely a challenge but I could use the fact that your attacks go far beyond the screen limits to my advantage (something that maybe should be prevented ? Like implementing a fade to your attack after traveling x distance)
The music is simple and atmospheric which suits well the style.
Very well done, keep up the good work !
Feel free to check out my entry and give me your opinion, feedback is always welcome
Cheers
Damien
Thanks for everyone’s responses I thought I did pretty well so it’s nice seeing other people liked it as well. If I would have spent a bit more time on it there’s definitely some things I would have made better, and next time I try Ludum Dare I’ll be sure to have improved a lot by then.
I like the look of this game and the physics of the legs! The sound effects are pretty good and the music is relaxing! The combat is pretty fun, however I would recommend a more dinamic camera perhaps so that it follows your mouse slightly. This would make it easier to see enemies from further away. Overall nicely done!
Nice game. The story fit the theme. I never ran out of time to suffer the consequence of the time loop. Honestly that's probably good because I probably would have just quit lol.
I liked the visuals, and the weird walking. The combat mechanics reminded me of tank combat.

Fighting the snowmen was kind of funny. Audio was okay, the bg music was fitting and not over-powering.
The shooting sounds are good but could be better. Good job on the game!

You should drop some screenshots into your LD page.
@rikitaner Thanks for the suggestion, I didn’t think about that but that is a really good idea to have the camera also follow the mouse a bit.
This is the first Gamemaker Studio game I've found, haha. Glad to see someone else using it. I enjoyed the game overall, although perhaps it was a little too easy to pin enemies against the siding, shooting them repeatedly until they were out of commission. It would have been nice to have been able to use the Time Wizard's wand after you defeated him, I imagine time constraints perhaps had something to do with this. I think you could have put in an animation when the timer reached 0 instead of just having the death screen pop up, I was just expecting something a little fancier since it was "magic", not that big of a deal though. This has a lot of potential, and overall this felt like a very polished and well made game taking into account the time allotted. I had fun playing through it.
@squeed-fingars You actually can use his wand after you beat him! The only way it may not have worked was if you defeated him right at the area where the giant clock shows up. I was definitely thinking about how I could have done the whole time concept a lot differently. Like having no hp but just a timer for how long you have to beat each island and getting hit only hurts you by taking up your time. Also, the camera does spin around to create a sort of time traveling feel when you run out of time but i kinda messed up on it since it cancels when you get hit again lol.
