@majorleegay I forgot to make it public 🤦 It should work now!
BIG BEES BIG ACTION Rad game my friend. Love the art, and that background tune is gnarly (would love to hear what effects you put over it).
@goblinkingmatt Thanks so much for the feedback! For the music I used an open source DAW called LMMS for the first time. It's like a slightly janky FLStudio with the benefit of being 100% free, also comes with an enormous number of plugins, samples, and presets! I'm going to write a longer post talking about my tools later.
I like the sprites
@abhilash Thank you!
Great idea and I played for a while! Try changing the backround music to something more fun and smooth! Good luck and congratulations
I love the chunky sprites :heart: And the overall Idea of keeping the last flower alive with what seems to bee the last bee on earth. I wish there was more feedback on when you put pollen on the flower other than a number rising.
I enjoyed the game - the graphics and sound were pleasant too. I'm not sure however, is the goal to collect all the pollen on the level? I'm just going to list a few things I think were perhaps missing: * there was no velocity on the flying, so letting go of the controls stopped the bee instantaneously. * you can fly up through platforms (I actually used this, but guess it was not intentional) * I keep forgetting which direction to go to get back to the home flower * it wasn't always clear how long until the flower dies - the game surprised me with game-over a few times when I thought I was doing fine.
A nice entry!
@savvu Thanks so much for the feedback!
@fictions Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed!
@lintfordpickle Guilty on all counts! I didn't push too hard for this jam, I'm just here for a good time! I was too lazy to implement a proper movement system with momentum and inertia and all that. The flying up through platforms was sort of intentional. I know it caused some unusual behavior, and I could have easily fixed it, but I decided to go with it. I wanted to implement a directional marker for the flower but again, lazy + time constraints. As for the last point, I thought the flower icon at the top would be enough of an indicator but I can see how it could be confusing. Thanks for your detailed feedback, I like hearing about ways to improve my designs!
@lintfordpickle Oh yeah and the goal is to simply keep yourself and the flower alive as long as possible. I think it might be impossible to get all the pollen AND keep the flower alive long enough to do so, but I didn't test that thoroughly.
Here is a fun game XD. I love the concept. It deserve to be more polished but it woks. Congratulation for this game.
@fax Thank you!
I like this entry, simple but cute and pretty fun to see how long I (we?) could survive. The highlights for me are the music and the art, I get a 90s nickelodeon cartoon vibe, especially in that game over screen. Thanks!
@defectivemelon Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the style!
Really enjoyed the style. Nicely done
The music goes very well with the graphics, harsh for such a calm setting, it works well! A few more mechanics would have been nice for interest on the long run but it stands nicely on its own, great job!
a more polished art style would do so much for this game, but i like the overall game and basic title screen design a lot.
Hello fellow keep-this-plant-alive gamer!
I love the vibe of this game, the pixely art and the lo-fi music. The gameplay itself was a little confusing at first, it was hard to see the effect of me neglecting the plant, but I liked that I was forced to stray further and further to fetch more pollen.
That Game Over screen is a work of art :) Also excellent game name!
@leekanarchism Thank you! I appreciate that you noticed the forced exploration effect that comes from pollen not respawning. It serves two design purposes: 1) it's a natural way to ramp up difficulty, and 2) it helps limit the length of the game without adding a hard time limit
