Graphics and sound were nice. I like the concept, but the time after you end your turn was VERY long and there was little action. After the 1st night lasting I don't know how long with no moments, I kinda zoned out. And then when it finally did end, I didn't make enough money to do anything so I would have to sit through another long and boring night.

Nights were quite long - but I loved the concept. Giving the user more money at the end of the night would definitely help.

Thanks for the feedback! I agree, I tested it with shorter nights cause it was half an hour before the deadline and realised they were way too long this morning. Thanks for the feedback! :)

The nights are very long and uneventfull, I got bored and quit after my 4th night. Some of the sound effects are very loud and abrupt. Foxes seemed to take 2 hits to kill, but there was no clear feedback on if my first hit actually hit them. Grahpics were OK, I really liked the player sprite and animations, and wish there were animations for the animals too. It was weird to have to press enter to open the buy menu, could it not be open during days automaticly? Also would be nice to have some kind of better indication where plants will be placed, I had hard time getting them lined up in grids.

Thanks for the feedback, you make a lot of good points. The foxes have 1-3 hit points, but I should have made it a bit more obvious

It's a fun little game, but for me there where two things missing. I would like to have some kind of background music (at least some athmosphere in the night) and a Pause button would really have helped. But otherwise, great Job!

Sweet, i love sims <3

murrzipan 2020-04-20 16:06

@Anonymous I would have liked to put some bg music in but my DAW isn't working rn, I'll add music if I do a special edition post-LD

Quite a nice little game, captivated me more than I would have thought.

The control choice is a bit weird, Enter for the shop or me accidentally placing new fences under the shop window. You can't sell/remove fences unless the foxes (zombies?) bite them to pieces.

It's really well done. More variety in the enemies and a proper goal to achieve would help a lot (I played up to the 10th night) Well done!

I like the gameplay, didn't get it first, but when the first wave of zombies arrives it started to catch me. Well done. I think controls need to be polished as it's a little bit off. Great game anyway!

henriquecanella 2020-04-21 14:09

Really liked the game idea. Since you use the mouse for shopping I think it would be nice to shoot using the mouse too for me it's better than switch between mouse and keyboard all the time

kasalooo 2020-04-21 16:11

very cute and creative!

rigdonware 2020-04-21 16:33

The artwork was fun! An impressive farming sim in 48 hours. Great job!

murrzipan 2020-04-21 16:48

@henriquecanella I felt that might be, thanks for confirming! :)

itskdog 2020-04-21 21:47

Interesting mix with farming and zombie attacks. I think the menu for buying should just always be showing. Also, the first day I put a fence down and then at night my player spawned on the fence and I couldn't move. So, I blow the fence down :)

This could defo go somewhere. Quite good for compo! Had some bugs with placement and struggled hitting mobs vertically. Also wasd + mouse only would be a better option for controls IMO. H5 for well executed compo entry tho.

sydream 2020-04-22 13:29

I had a very similar idea for my game, though I didn't manage to deliver all the features I wanted. Kudos for doing this for the compo and creating all the arts and sounds (I'm really rubbish at it so I just don't even bother). I concur with most of the feedback in here as the night turn is quite long, also the controls could be bit smoother as I had trouble moving the camera and selling / placing the fences. Anyhow great job!

I made it to the 7th "season" before getting bored, ended up with M$721 ^_^. Was fun at first. First night was weirdly long for having nothing at all happening. Often managed to get two fences stuck on my cursor (when trying to place a new one too close to an old one, I think). Would have been interesting to have anything to save up money to buy (since I started with enough to buy a cow, I just bought one of those, and there was nothing left to care about).

murrzipan 2020-04-23 09:26

@jimbly fair criticism. normally at least one skeleton spawns on night one but it is random so I probably should have forced it. I'll add some treats to save up for, cause right now the goal is just to get to night 30 with as much money as you can, but I think your right that gameplay incentives would be more enjoyable

artemftw 2020-04-25 11:04

Well done! Overall the game is pretty nice. The only issue I found is when you try to buy an item and place it near another you begin moving the other item as well. Other than that great job.

Good start! I included it in my Ludum Dare 46 compilation video series, if you want to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/a4mUfaMtGeE

Thanks Jupiter! I've been watching your series, I was really thrilled to see you play mine at the start! It helped show me what things I could have implemented better. :)
