yeaaaaaa!

I really like the concept! The sprites are super cute, and it almost makes me feel like I'm in a cartoon. I wish there was more explanation on the type advantages in game - I know it says them in the description, but a lot of the time I couldn't tell what type of dragon each was, so I couldn't use that to its full advantage. But I really like what you put together here!

It was very interesting the battle dragons part, good workd!!!

pixipit 2020-04-21 01:59

Very nice art work.

Won a fight with my dragons; searched for _additional_ ones; had to give one away  apart from that nice game

Neat enough idea, though it doesn't make a good first impression. Typos are frequent and the very impressive character and dragon art don't show up for quite some time -- until then it's just stock photos and plain text. I wish I could *not* take a dragon into my team just because I encounter it; I came across one with worse stats than both of mine, and still had to replace one. Overall, I just wish there was more to do -- pick training regiments for dragons instead of just finding new ones, maybe?

Does anyone have a game guide on how to kill the galvagon? I don't think I got the type advantage! Graphics were amazing btw

bootygangdisciple 2020-04-21 02:15

Nice game! I enjoyed the concept. That Galvagon is tough, not gonna lie.

pkenney 2020-04-21 02:19

Nice use of the mixed media, and animating the sprites with wobbles and tweens looks good.

Really nice graphics, and I really dig the music. I feel like the gameplay is kinda janky? Like the UI will tell me the enemy is counterattacking--and then nothing will happen, but then it will say the enemy is counterattacking *again*, and that time something actually happens.

I also don't think I understand exactly how the game allocates the turns? Like, I lost in a fight because the enemy got two turns when I only got one, and so they quite obviously were able to do much more damage.

Perhaps it's simply because I don't play a lot of RPG games, so I'm not super aware of genre conventions.

Anyways, one thing I think would really help is if you could see the stats of your attacks, etc while you were actually fighting. I had no hope of keeping all that straight in my head.

Overall, if the gameplay UI was smoothed out a little bit, I think this would be pretty cool.

I officially don't suck at dragons.

This game has a _lot_ going on, and it's impressive just how much content you guys were able to cram into such a short amount of time. Unique dragon and character sprites, different tracks for each battle, an RPG system, stats sheets, dialogue...hot damn!

I would say that one area of improvement might be the UI during battle. When I was in combat, I completely forgot how much damage my moves did, and what my opponent's dragon types were (although I could figure it out based on the design and color of the dragon, mostly). It would have been much more convenient if I had all of the information I needed to make a decision in the heat of battle.

Other than that though, dragon finding was neat, and I liked the inherent risk/reward factor of it, since you _have_ to replace one of your dragons when you go out, even if you find a crappy one. Feels like you could cheese the system and keep repeatedly going out to find the best dragons though. If there's a limit to how many times you can go out, I certainly didn't hit it...

Awesome job, you guys! This was a great entry! :)

Looks like theres a lot of content in this game, wow. I'd like to be able to see what the moves do and stats of the dragons during a battle, I have a terrible memory and basic was just hitting random button haha. Also wasn't entirely sure which dragons were mine. Good job though, looks like a lot of work went into this, well done.

truefaux 2020-04-22 20:02

The download link's fixed now. Sorry about that!

> see who’s dragons are the most dragon.

Yessss

So, I really like dragons, ever since I was a kid playing spyro, so this one caught my eye. Overall, I wish I could like it more than I do. The core is good, I liked the pokemon battling system, the multitude of dragon sprites, and the goofy plot / dialogue, but I think the core problem with the game was the way information was presented.

For example, each dragon has two attacks, and the attacks have certain attributes, but I can only see this information before the battle. This leaves me effectively random button mashing during the fight since I can't remember the stats from before.

The same goes for catching new dragons, I can't compare the new dragon's stats to my old ones side by side. Also during the battles it is hard to know which when issuing attacks, as there is no highlight or animation to indicate it.

It's a shame because I think these issues kept me from really enjoying the game as fully as I could. If you ever post an updated build please ping me, I'd love to try it :)

Very nice concept, i loved the art!

This is great!!!

jimbly 2020-04-25 16:18

Nice concept, and great art! I liked the writing. I was unable to defeat the second enemy - it seems one of the enemy dragons had more HP than all of mine combined, a 0-cooldown 10-damage skill compared to my 4-damage 1 cooldowns, and, well, that was over quickly ^_^. I'm guessing I just got unlucky with random numbers there. I would have liked to be able see the dragons' status cards during a match (on mouseover?), to make slightly more informed decisions when I forget what was going on.

trexxak 2020-04-26 18:38

Concept is sweeet. Can't believe this wasn't already a thing. :D

Other than that I really enjoyed the humour.

All in all it is obvious great efforts went into the making of this, especially the monster design! Great work all around.

dane-tesla 2020-05-06 15:19

It was an interesting experience! The gameplay was nice and complex but the stock photos in background are not looking really good. It'd be better if they're blurred, for example, or fitting a specific colors sheme. The just seemed a bit random xD I enjoyed monster fights (who doesn't enjoy them, eh?) it was kinda Pokemon-like. Music was pleasing as well <3
