Whacking the zombies is really satisfying!
Ha ha! The gameplay is satisfying. The sound effects make it comidic in a way
That grandma is dope! I loved the humor and tone of the game, with the music, animation and character arts coming together. The controls feel good, and the indicators to show you where gas can be found is a very good idea. Thanks for the game!
Very nice game! Ghosts my favorite part ) Very fluent and dynamic gameplay. Great job!
Once I went to the bottom level I could not get back up to the top level because I could not consistently jump through the blue platforms. This seems like a glitch because in the video jumping through a blue platform is clearly shown.
The sound effects in the game are great. I really like the YEAH when you get fuel back to grandma. The particle effects are also really good.
yay, finally a platformer! :D funny idea and I liked the "soft" cartooney graphics! I'm also celebrating peope that rigged a character over the course of a gamejam because that is hell ^^ (I did it as well haha) pure dedication ;P You might want to add gamepad controls, because I think those are basically MADE for platformers :D
@fatpenguin we do support gamepad controls, they are even put in the controls description :D
Cheers!
Really fun gameplay and the controls are pretty nice. I really like how the game tells you where the gas cans are and when they respawn. Although it's a bit weird that you need to bring gas cans to the granny.. Im not sure if you did any of the animation, art, or sfx since you opted out of those but if you did any of those WOW they're pretty good. Thanks for the game! :)
@zguba lol, what I huge dork I am, seems like I didn't plug it in properly or something, or has a defective contact (well, let's hope not :O) omg this is even better now! :D and jumping is waaaaay easier haha I love it! it makes you feel so awesome to be able to jump so high, I think it's a really cool concept that you're basically invincible but you have to always come back to this fragile and vulnerable thing to protect it :)
Might I suggest to explain the controls differently for, you know, dummies like me? :3 something like Controls: Controller (recommended): blabblabla Keyboard: blabla
it's a pity I almost missed this! good job! <3
@narwaffles we opted out since we did mix. We used models and some animations from mixamo but @serafin made custom rig and animations for the boy. The model of the ghost and robot are also his doing. Sound effects are all CC0 found around the Internet.
We also used gas cans... because we had no more time and ideas at the end  Thanks for sharing! Cheers mate!
@fatpenguin thanks for the feedback, we really appreciate it! You are right, we actually should recommend controller as we also prefer to play our game with controller rather than keyboard and mouse.
I really liked this one, on point with the theme, nice graphical style and funny concept. It was satisfying hitting the enemies but I felt the game play could've been a little bit more difficult. Maybe if there were a few more enemies on screen, or if the ghosts moved in a wave rather than a straight line? Controls were tight and overall felt really nice with the controller.
very nice game, super cool sound effects and good level design, i like it
Nice little cool game. Good job!
good models, good effects and good rhythm.
Overall good job
An okay little platform game. When you are using so much pre-made contend I would have liked to see some more interesting gameplay.
@jk5000 interesting in what way? Could you elaborate on that? We tried to keep the game as tight as possible to keep the fun and gameplay loop as small as possible since its a game jam game. Lets face the truth, people rarely play your game longer than few minutes.
Also, quite a lot of content is made by us as mentioned in my previous comment.
Cheers mate!
@zguba hello again. First of all, I am not against your use of pre-made content, but when you are using this I would hope it would give you more time to make a more interesting game.
You asked me "Interesting in what way?", and the short answer is that I don't know. The gameplay is right now a super basic platform game, and because it is so basic there is many ways to make this more interesting. For me this game feels like your heard the theme, and then you took the first idea you got and then you made that into a game. For me is a good jam game, when you take the theme and you think, how can I make something really fun and interesting within the limitation of this theme.
Then you said "Lets face the truth, people rarely play your game longer than few minutes.", and here you are absolutely right and perhaps a bit wrong. Yes, you are right that most jam games is only played for a few minutes, but why not make a game that the players really want to play for much longer. I have played a lot jam games, alone in this jam I have played 197 games. And most jam games I have played, I have played between 3-10 minutes, but there is a few jam games I have played for more then an hour. But to be honest, most of the best jam games I have played, took only a few minutes to play.
But back to your game. I am not saying, that your game is bad. It is pretty well put together, and it is easy to play. I would just have hoped it did something, that did not only made it okay, but made it new and super interesting.
I hope this helps.
@jk5000 thanks for an in depth view. That's what I wanted to know. Yeah, I guess we are both wrong and right about the complexity and length of the gameplay on game jams.
Thanks again, cheers!
