Cool little game. The UI maybe needs some work and the intro dragged on a bit, but this is a nice use of the theme and overall quite smooth. The music really added to the theme.

Nice concept and a Realy Good game :D Collision were a bit clunky though. Well done

jgower0502 2018-12-03 16:18

Brilliant idea and execution, love the piano melody before the game begins, great work!

figglewatts 2018-12-03 16:20

Interesting entry. Intro was a bit long, but a nice use of the theme and a cool idea.

sukantapatra 2018-12-03 16:20

Idea follows the theme, but could've been implemented in a much better way.

theboss12 2018-12-03 16:20

Nice concept...I only didn't like i had to wait the to start.

kaisenthegreatone 2018-12-03 16:22

Really cool game, with a nice concept. I like it :D

**The Good:** The artwork is cool, the washed-out colors along with the music set a depressing mood. The gameplay was simple and easy to pick up. The custom health, size and strength attributes for each sacrifice was an interesting mechanic.

**Needs Work:** The collisions are buggy at times and the game is too easy to exploit. Starting with an average knight and fighting until you are able to create a nearly maxed-out knight will allow the player to stay at the top edge of the screen and just slice the zombies indefinitely. There were too many unnecessary intro texts that dragged on for too long.

In general, it was a pretty fun game with a unique mechanic.

After my first horrible run, this was truly a surprise and it happened quick: coming.png

So yeah, it was super easy. I think I only killed like 5 zombies total on that run. Could be longer and have some kind of progressive difficulty curve. And maybe have a visible goal you're going for instead of just out of the blue claiming the player victor without them even doing anything really. And the balance wasn't quite right when on my first run I tried to kill them as much as I could only to find out that if there is any zombies in the bottom 10% section of the board, anything I'd send out will get immediately murdered.

Wasn't a huge fan of the background graphics. It made even the character sprites bleed into this muddy mess. Combat didn't feel too good either. I think adding a bit of knockback to sword swing would make it better. It'd at least make it feel less awkward. And the whole game was over so fast that I didn't even get to familiarize myself with those different stats bars on the bottom of the screen.

And a skip option for the intro would be very nice (after trying to go for a another try). I think it takes longer to watch through that than to actually beat the game

Anyways, good job!

nice job!

Thank you all for playing my game and leaving kind words, but also criticism. The intro-too-long thing is always my Problem. I promise: wont happen next time.

IMPORTANT:

Just a thing I wanted to add: The game is not actually meant to just 'slice Zombies indefinetly'. The Goal is to have 50 Zombies on screen without beeing destroyed. I understand why the success may have come out of the blue. Maybe a progress bar or something would have helped. Always smarter afterwards.

digitaldude555 2018-12-05 16:38

The mood is 5/5 the music and art fit the story very well, Thats a good job there. The concept is interesting but the problem is the execution, even though the 3 sliders add depth you can win randomly and as people said the collision arent good my soldiers got stuck easily. Anyway congrats on your 2nd ludum dare.

I truly liked the atmosphere of the game, the sounds, the music, the colors, well done! Also the mechanic of slicing and changing the size, strength, etc of the sword is pretty clever, and suits the theme pretty well.

In my opinion the bad point of your game is that it is waaaaay too easy and there's no point. I know you've said that the game wasn't just about killing zombies, but it lacks feedbacks or a clear written objective on screen. Otherwise, that's a nice entry and I enjoyed playing your game! Thank you

matterox 2018-12-08 17:39

Nice game! Really suites the theme.

jk5000 2018-12-11 14:03

I am not sure I do understand the game idea, but I had fun killing monsters/zombies. I like the weird music. The graphics is okay, but for me every thing is a bit to gray/brown. Overall a fine LD game.

fnissalot 2018-12-12 07:48

Nice idea! The collision is a bit off but I like the audio.

zetorama 2018-12-24 00:15

I like the idea and atmosphere of the game. Blurry graphics and sound also fits well. I would say, it's kinda tower defence without towers :)

As others mentioned, after you figure out how the mechanics works, it's rather too easy to win, however objectives are not very clear. Probably, if you improve balance (larger knights are OP on early stages) and maybe just add a well-defined spots (with own HP status) to defend from zombies, it'd become an obvious strategy to barrier these spots.

vija02 2018-12-24 06:55

As other mentioned, intro could be shorter. For some reason there's no sound during it for me as well.

Gameplay wise, i kinda like the concept, but it's too slow. I think if it's faster pace with more hp, this will be more fun.

Balance wise, you can just make the large knight and kill enemies before they even enter the screen so.... definitely can be improved.

nander 2018-12-24 14:46

Concept is good, game ends too early, and the size thing is a bit weird and unpredictable

acaral 2018-12-31 12:28

It's a good idea to have put an introduction. Your entry let me think of a phonegame. I also have to say that The mechanics are interesting.
