Oh I love the concept! A little music and some nice battle bgm would have really brought the aesthetic together, but still impressive for the combo!

I love the art, it so adorable. Main world music should be more longer to loop. There should be something like tutorial. For me is very hard to even recognize what am I doing in the battle. Maybe you should give player more info. I know its hard with this minimalistic concept.
I found the game really confusing at first, how do I select which monster to use? How do I select which to attack? How do I combine essence? How do I cancel an attack? after a while I figured it out and it got funner, but there didn't seem to be any way to progress. I'd gain monsters, then they'd die and I'd still be stuck in the starting area. Combinations of essence almost seemed random on whether I would get something good or not. It was alright, but it would be nice if there were some hints or a guide
The art and the battle effect is good. The design of the monsters' skills are various and all with different cool attacking animations. I die a few times to figure out the skill dmg value or if it is multi-target. Maybe you can add some discription. The idea of using dying monster's elements to create new one is good. But with lack of ability to regenerate health between battles, I cant go far to discover more area of the whole map. Maybe you can change the type of the monster and the num of them for different grass, just like the Pokemon or the Dragon Quest does. Overall, this is a good game, with good use of pico-8 engine in just 48 hours.
interesting game. But there is no tips
This game is very fun, and the art is amazing!
I don't understand the combat at all. I keep loosing every second battle. But I really enjoyed the graphics and battle music! :)
I like the overworld graphics and the concept of the game. The music and sound effects are very good too. I like the combat effects for the creatures moves, but there is not enough tutorial or guidance on how to do the battle/combine mechanics and this seemed really confusing at first. I also think having either a static background or a texture in the battle screen would make it clearer than the moving grid, it kind of threw me off.
If there were more guidance tips and a bit more clear graphics in the battle it would be great, but it has really stylish overworld :)
Very cute art, I really liked the map too. The collision seemed slightly off for me as I was able to walk sort of into a white building from the side. The combat was cool, especially the background and attack effects. The battle music was also cool and fit well with the rest of the game.
