Wow, looking good already, good job. Still missing some of the core mechanics.

sthor726 2018-08-13 02:17

pretty fun, graphics could use a little work though

lakso 2018-08-13 02:31

Awesome graphics!

manicthenobody 2018-08-13 02:55

Few bugs here and there. The sound was overwhelmingly loud, but the graphics were quaint and I'd be lying if I said I didn't find myself oddly addict to Burn-Out.

ghostgoatsgames 2018-08-13 02:58

I love your art. I liked the garbage room one the most, but I couldn't really figure out why my work meter was running out?

jakegames2 2018-08-13 03:08

@ghostgoatsgames The work meter is constantly going down when you are not working, and the higher the heat of the room, the faster it goes down. To work, you hold space by the computer.

Not bad, I enjoyed it

marcel-oyuela-bonzani 2018-08-13 06:11

The graphics are pretty cool and it's nice that you included three different game modes. They're all super easy at the start though, a faster rampup might be cool.

ethan-nachreiner 2018-08-13 06:24

I love the graphics in the Burn-Out and Rodger games! The best out of all of them is definitely Rodger. Burn-Out is... frankly... kinda boring (personal taste probably) (and the meters are a bit glitchy). Shooter takes way too long to get interesting, and even then it's too easy. But Rodger is just really good, and I hope you expand on it in the future! There was one really good thing in Shooter though, the way the sound gets super intense as time goes by (but the sound doesn't really match the actual difficulty). Sorry if I sound a bit harsh, your game has some of the best graphics I've seen so far in this jam! (And Rodger is genuinely fun.) And it's also really impressive that you made not 1, but 3 games!

jakegames2 2018-08-13 06:51

@ethan-nachreiner Thanks! I wanted to do more with Shooter and Burn-Out, but I had stuff do to, so the Jam wasn't my focus. But I'm glad you liked Rodger! If you're looking for a game like it, I've been working on a gameboy style version of it named Hedge Runner, you can change the difficulty with the main number keys (0, 1, 2,). You can go up to 3 and 4, however, they are impossible. The difficulty doesn't go up with time, but that's something I may add later. https://www.dropbox.com/s/s16hsqcw2mc074h/LD42RodgerUpdate.exe?dl=0

ethan-nachreiner 2018-08-13 07:03

@jakegames2 I just tried it out! It looks fantastic! 😃 "Type B" certainly was... intriguing (luckily I figured out that F2 was restart). Not only are level 3 and 4 impossible, but level 2 is very glitchy. Please send me it again (if you want) when you expand on "Type B", cause it seems very interesting (dodging tetris pieces?).

jakegames2 2018-08-13 07:07

@ethan-nachreiner Yeah B isn't very finished, I couldn't get the idea to work, I'm likely not to finish it. Level 2 actually isn't glitchy, the hedges will disappear and reappear every 1 second, you're supposed to remember their distance and stay out of the space, if they were there every second, it would be impossible.

ethan-nachreiner 2018-08-13 07:11

@jakegames2 Ah I see! I just tried level 2 again! I think you should make it so the hedges fade out instead of just disappearing, although that might clash with the overall art style...

jakegames2 2018-08-13 07:18

@ethan-nachreiner Yeah, that was my issue, I couldn't make a convincing fade, that's why I just put a sound instead.

ghen 2018-08-13 07:46

ahahaha, nice to see someone also have idea about "Heat" for this theme, nice take of the theme, control feels good, but also weird that theres spesific key for certain activity, i think it better to put universal key for action, but just different trigger object

the shooter fine, i like how it speed up overtime, the platformer also fine but theres not much to do, i feel like Burn-Out is the best of the bunch

i also love the pixelated hand drawn graphic, remind me of PS1 era game

apple-dash 2018-08-13 08:05

Burn-out: Way to easy. The best tactic is just to stay in front of a heater and hold "x", as work meter fills incredibly fast this way, so you'll beat the game before you die

Shooter: I get, why you did this weird snap targeting, but the full 360 degree (or, 180, I suppose) would feel a lot better (and probably bug out less, as the gun wasn't firing where the barrel was aiming sometimes). Also, too easy again. Maybe, you should've made it so balls touching the ground, not the gun triggered Game Over.

Rodger: Probably the best of three. Movement and jumping feels nice. It's pretty. Although, the best way to get infinite score is to jump off the map, so, maybe putting an invisible wall there is a good idea.

Overall, I think, you should've focused on only one idea, as none of the games are that polished and spectacular by themselves, and as a minigame collection the game (at least in the current state) doesn't feel like a coherent package (with different visuals and tutorials and all that)

scott-purcival 2018-08-13 08:35

Extra points for making 3 games! Found the heater one a bit confusing. was not sure what the win/lose condition was. the shooter game was the best one, but I had to turn down the sound at the end, and the jumpman one was a great simple idea, however i would love to have seen more juiciness :) Great submission - definitely memorable.

jakegames2 2018-08-13 08:42

@apple-dash A bug fix will be upload shortly to the gamejolt page, I'll add it to the post when it's ready.

bovandenberg 2018-08-13 09:56

you are going to be nr.1

jumpander 2018-08-13 10:23

Man, this cannon gets pretty fast, ...I wonder where they store all those bullets! :D

anaglyphcoding 2018-08-13 11:55

I loved the graphics style, I got a bit confused on the shooter game as i was used to using the keyboard and took me a while to realise I should be using the mouse! Also, especially on the first two games, when you die the game suddenly returns you to the main menu rather than having any sort of ending screen or some big event happening (such as the computer in the first game exploding or something, would've been a cool way to end the game). Just a minor complaint, it doesn't take away from the experience too much. Good work! :D

tetra 2018-08-14 12:30

I liked it, it really reminded me of some net-yaroze tier indie game. I had a lot of 'wat' moments but it had a unique style. I can see this game existing with lots of these minigames tied together in a fast paced style.

alysson-moraes 2018-08-15 13:33

very fun and challenging, throughout the game is getting tense.

designernap 2018-08-15 21:03

I like that you went for three games instead of one! Hard work! I think my favourite was the shooter as the guns sound gave it a natural rhythm which I enjoyed.

jacque006 2018-08-17 04:55

Love the graphics and garbage room gameplay, reminds me of longer Warioware games. One cheat that I found in shooter is that a little bit into the game, if you just point your gun straight up it will kill everything that spawns.

merpader 2018-08-17 13:31

Was really fun to play! I liked the pixel feel of it a lot
