I guess it's nice for 3 hours of work. Without a timer, score or opponents of any kind, this is barely a game though.

@Kaarel I agree. I wanted to add other racers, a lap tracker/win condition and some speed boosts next but the jam ended. Thanks for checking it out, though! I really appreciate it.
I can see this concept working with multiple players and powerups, nice work for 3 hours! Great use of the theme too
I like what is here, and with a bit more development time, this could have been a much better game. Hope to see you in another LD, where you have better time for the game jam.
It's a pity you didn't have more time to put into this since it has some really good groundwork laid down. A lot better than I would have made in 3 hours but still pretty bare bones.
Pretty cool idea, I'm sure that something could be done with this. Apart from the obvious things (car graphics, enemies bla) it would be smoother if the cube/car kept momentum when the next target point is clicked, instead of stopping immediately.
Btw, you should opt-out of getting votes for humor and mood, since they're not really applicable.
I managed to pull off an off-road hiking experience

Yep, this is clearly a very quick experiment you made, but I still couldn't help but think that it makes up for a weird interesting experience. I actually went around a few times trying to see the fewest clicks it'd take me to do a lap (got it below 20). Heck, at one point I even thought about taking shortcuts, which became a high-risk, high-reward scenario. I had to go up mountains to get a better sight of the road and then try to click before I clipped through the map. Obviously an unintended thing, but still a hilarious thing that can be done in experiments.
For what it's worth, it was a neat experiment, and it's great that having so little time didn't stop you from participating on the jam. [Speaking for my team](twitter.com/whalesandgames), we're looking forward to seeing a full fledged project of yours next time around. Cheers! :whale:
Nice concept, for 3 hours it's very good! It would have been nice to have the entire weekend to make a polished game of your idea, because the gameplay is fun. Feel free to look and vote for our entry: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/way-out
Impressive for only 3 hours! I got stuck in a hill and couldn't leave though.
Very cool idea. I have no idea how you got it done so quick!
It's kind of like browsing Google Street View
I quite enjoyed playing this game. Fun concept that could be really fun when actually racing. Loved the map too, I find it quite impressive how good it looks given how big it is for a three day project Well done!
A pity there's no Linux version...
@chriiis88 Thanks! Yeah, I realized that after I made it aand played it a bit. With grass slowing you down and speed up zones that would make it so much more interesting. As to the matter of humor and mood, personally, I feel that the fact that you're a pink cube instead of a race-car is mildly humorous. Also, I find the world I created is mellow and pleasant to be in, so that's why I left the mood category in.
@Blinkenlights Well I'll just have to fix that, won't I? So sorry for leaving my Linux friends out!
@Ajayajayaj Thank you! It was mostly figuring out how to program the one mechanic I had, which was going to the spot you click. Had to learn raycasting to a position in the 3D world from where the mouse clicked in the screen space. Once I got that down, I was battling the clock on everything else. Picked up the guitar and played a riff, put it down and sculpted a map using the Unity terrain editor. Loaded the speed tree free package and placed some trees. Picked up the guitar and revisited the riff, this time recording it after a couple of practice play throughs. Adjusted the materials and lighting and then built it! :)
@blobo Thanks! Yeah if you go inside the hill you gotta kind of rotate the camera and make sure you're clicking outside on the road instead of on the backface of the hill terrain, otherwise it tries to go to where you're pretty much already at. I didn't get around to programming the Y position, the cube just slides in the X and Z at the height of the road plane.
@jk5000 Thank you! @Human Writes Code Thanks! @Trenogre Thanks! @Nutriz Thank you! I will definitely check it out!
Thank you all for checking out my little prototype! I look forward to the next LD and getting the opportunity to put something more elaborate together. :)
