Very impressive game idea and also it connected with the level design !!!! really enjoy it, Robin!
Wow, I really enjoy it! The way you can build a life soo simliar to real life. The graphics are very good, it doesn't distract you from the meaning of the game and the music set the mood very well. The narrative is excelent. I think you should develop it more and publish it. Great job!
@acoto87 thx a lot. Really enjoy the time developing it.
I really like the idea of choosing the path based on a narrative choice and evolving on it, especially the "overwork" part that was well designed ('Will it ever end ?'). The music is good, it's enough to setup an atmosphere with only a short gameplay. For the gamepad, I chose to play first with it because I think few people use them (bad for the feedback). Maybe you should have added joypad commands to navigate in the menu (start, quit, suicide).
There is potential for some good full game, here.
@Hyorvenn thx a lot for advice.
This game has feels. For some reason running back towards earlier times when I hit my 30s just felt so freeing.
I'd say it's too easy to fall through the gaps but.. yup, seems on point.
This is beautiful. I hope you are extremely proud of what you just made.
If there's anything to even remotely "criticize", I just wish I could change the camera angle / work out the way to change said camera angle. Found it confusing going up the spiral at the end and missed so many options... so I can quite easily believe that's an artistic choice too.
This is sooo deep
Very impressing and inspiring game! 1.After you choose a path, you can still see what will happen if you choose the different way. And I can really feel the sense of incapability when I fail to get in college or get a promotion. 2.The agility of the character increase when he make the "right choice". That makes it a little tricky to reach some path (especially meeting Sophia), which is good because it distinguish this game from that kind of game where you make choice by just clicking. 3.I think it is redundant to choose a partner in the beginning as long as you can see that option during the game. We will lose the surprise finding those options. 4.The game flow is too short. Hoping to see more after buying a house. All in all, fantastic game! Looking forward to seeing more of your work
@Hanra Thanks for your comment! Yeah, I'm really proud of this game, thx. And for camera, since it's a 3d platformer game, the camera control is way more than 48h to make hahhah😆
@Cick thanks for your advice. 1. That's the way I want, Incapability hahah. 2. Yeah I think this is the key to this game. There is no "right choice". All the choices only change player's agility so if you want to meet Sophia, many ways you can do hahhah. 3. OH the redundancy is because I want have some narrative in the game. But because only have 48h, seems that the narritive is too simple and not giving enough emotion. 4. As I mentioned in 3. In fact the original idea of this game is starting from born to die, and a lot of random events happen through the life. But I guess 48h only alow me to have a rough prototype of it hahah😋😋😋
5/5 for every categories.
@Tayfun Thx a lot
很有趣的设计 完美诠释“人生道路”。XD
Very pretentious but also very engaging and good replaybility
I absolutely love your game design for this - it really makes the platformer unique, and meaningful in following a life journey. I felt like a lot of areas were incomplete, couldn't progress past certain points. But very good for 48 hours, I'm impressed.
@DeltaNutmeg All the platforms right now can be reached actually. But it needs some tricks haahah
That was a nice game! Awesome job on the music!
The game reminds me of Gravitation by Jason Rohrer. If you could expand upon the platform segments and continue having it serve as metaphors I think it could be really interesting!
I will admit this game made me cry. I usually write about the things you could improve on but the only problem for me was the camera at the end. I'd love to see a full game made out of this, heck i'd pay for a full game. Oh my god just thank you for making this game I truly love it. If you don't mind I also made an emotional game (though I targeted a different emotion) I would love it if you would check it out. here's the link: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/yum-some
An impressively realised compo entry! Though the graphics are basic, you clearly put in a little extra flair towards the end, and the music is top notch. I enjoyed this a lot more than many other life simulation games with much longer dev cycles!
I am a little curious as to why you chose to mark the reset button 'suicide' though, especially given how much of the screen it takes up. Given the game's focus on exploration, I feel something like 'reincarnate' might have been a little more suitable? All in all, I enjoyed my time with this game though!
This is beautiful. It reminded me of Jason Rohrer's game Passage (Oh - I see another commenter said it reminded them of "Gravitation"!). Damn games that make me think I'm wasting my life!
Really, excellent and sublime work.
@RockhopperGames thx for your comment. Hahah I think 'suicide' is "because recently my emotion is little bit down". hahah kidding. It's because my english sucks. I don't even know the word 'reincarnate', thx for teaching me.
Oh, thanks for the reply! English is a super tricky language with probably a lot more words than it really needs, so that's understandable!
I love the amount of metaphor going on with the platforming mechanics. The way certain choices were impossible to reach because of jump height, and the position of some choice "platforms" was all really well done. Would have been cool to have more challenging platforming parts to build on this, but realistically that probably wouldn't have been possible in the compo time frame. All in all, it was great fun to play. I would love to see it expanded upon.
A surprisingly poignant game for a game jam, and an interesting piece of gameplay driving narrative. I liked how you could still see some choices but couldn't jump high enough to reach them. There are some typos, but it never interferes with the story. If you continue with this game, I would suggest consider some force constantly moving the player forward. I got to a point where I was study for my high school finals in my late 30's.
