I love this, art is spot on on and game play doesn't get stale at all, very well done on your first!

octopal 2017-12-05 07:06

I really enjoyed this!! It was more challenging than I expected but I like a good challenge.. Great work :)

joekickass 2017-12-05 07:07

Quite hard to begin with but once you get the hang of it you start to feel like a pro.

frozedon 2017-12-05 07:08

This game is hilarious and brutally difficult. I always seem to drop so many plates. The visuals work well. Only issue I had was it took me a while to figure out how to start the game. I thought going through the Exit door would quit the game.

csdoescs 2017-12-05 07:14

Really fun, nice physics. The art works nicely and the music is charming~ I played it for quite a while, really nice work.

lamossus 2017-12-05 07:24

Great game! Seems unfair at first but after getting into it it becomes very fun

cercle 2017-12-05 07:48

WOW. IT IS HARD TO BE A WAITER. The learning curve of this game is steep, but the controls are so nice that once you start getting a hang for it, it starts feeling like an earned skill. That is a really difficult sensation to deliver in a game! well done!

chin-jieh 2017-12-05 08:06

Wow, I go out for a bite and I see these! It really motivates me, thanks guys!

aaforcebox 2017-12-05 08:13

Very fun, a lot harder than it looks. Very good utilization of the theme in an innovative way. Great job!

fabian-pohl 2017-12-05 13:09

I want to hit the love button harder! Gameplay is nice smooth addictive, easy to learn and hard to master. Perfect Gameplay and a lot of Fun! Bonus for humor because i love breaking Plates. It would be nice to have dishes with different angle points. The Art is fitting and wellmade but not the highlight of this little masterpiece:)

chin-jieh 2017-12-05 13:21

@fabian-pohl Thank you for your kind feedback! That's a great idea too. Actually, there were ideas of having things like wine bottles and glasses, but many features had to be cut because of the time limit, and I'm still a little sad for that.

Glad to hear you had fun playing it, and hope you managed to master the art of Tray-fu, heh

steven-pinto 2017-12-05 13:22

Hahaha! Awesome :) I had fun playing!

thx1342 2017-12-05 15:59

Very nice! Nice use of the theme and a complex game in a seemingly simple package. There's a lot to handle (many plates, customers, cleaning tables, getting here and there fast and not to mention the motor coordination needed in both hands to control the sway of the plates!). Very well done

The only thing I missed was the possibility of restarting the round when I saw, mid-way, that I had already failed! :)

chin-jieh 2017-12-05 16:37

@thx1342 Thanks for the feedback! Yeap, people have mentioned that, and its an excellent suggestion. I didn't think of that :D. Was thinking maybe I could have had the player be able to leave through the same exit to restart. But then again, might bring about other design issues, will never know until its implemented! (the joys of game design)

lifehack 2017-12-06 04:39

Well-done! I have lot of fun with your game!

shrekshao 2017-12-06 04:52

Well made. Did you played the one where you try to carry multiple coins? I think your game has more content, also more control. But man it's really hard!

gizmolo 2017-12-06 04:55

Thought controls were a bit rough but it was fun and made sense with the theme. Sound track was really stellar!

chin-jieh 2017-12-06 04:59

@shrekshao Thank you! Nope, which game is that?

luciax 2017-12-06 05:10

A lot of fun when playing it, simple but really interesting gameplay. The control is a little bit difficult and I spoiled lots of dishes at first, then gradually realize the faster you run the easier it is lol. But enjoy the experience when finding myself more skilled with bringing the plates!

nardandas 2017-12-06 05:10

Jesus, that ending. I really enjoyed the gameplay, I found the simplicity really fun. It was something you could really feel yourself getting better at, but you still made mistakes when you got good. I could see more complexity being gradually added to it, but for the but you had here, I'd say it was perfect. For the theme, I really love these games that take on a real world case of it.

jjjjason 2017-12-06 05:12

Lot of fun! The visuals and the music blend pretty well together, definitely bumps up the polish level.

When initially playing, it seemed obvious to me that I should be walking slowly most of the time, but honestly I did much better zooming around, haha.

The physics are interesting--I'd normally expect things to slide around in a physics-based game, but I guess on a serving platter (especially with a fabric cover) they wouldn't slide around.

shrekshao 2017-12-06 05:16

weeping-rupee 2017-12-06 05:21

Ah, a physics based game in LD-- this is actually the first time I've seen one and I loved it

Pros: Genuinely fun to play Very fitting for the theme

Cons: Controls are a little hard-- I wish I could play on an xbox controller rather than a keyboard with analogue inputs. Its not that you picked bad buttons to map to its just there is some disconnect in my brain trying to split between 2d physics on a flat plane and 4 directional movement.

chin-jieh 2017-12-06 05:21

@shrekshao Aw that looks so cute! Will try it out

cliff-lee-cl 2017-12-06 07:48

Great game overall! Art, music, and gamplay all come together. Satisfying gameplay and even have an ending. Good job :)

nucleose 2017-12-06 23:48

Excellent execution of this concept; it's no secret that being a waiter is difficult but damn you sure as hell made me FEEL it. Having been a food runner myself I'd almost say this is harder! I never got used to the controls really but it didn't stop me from having fun, so good work!

peachtreeoath 2017-12-09 08:18

First off, my team has always struggled with how to integrate a tutorial w/o the players constantly skipping it. Putting it in the title screen is a great idea!

5/5 fun for me. You have really unique gameplay here and I'm glad you have the 2 variations you have to do (deliver + cleanup plates) for variety. I loved how simple the game was to pick up, though I honestly didn't think the game was possible at first. I'm glad I stuck through and learned how to balance my plates better, I just had so much satisfaction from improving my abilities.

chin-jieh 2017-12-09 18:40

@nucleose @cliff-lee-cl @peachtreeoath Thank you for the kind words! Yes, the intention was really to have the game a skill-based game that makes you 'feel like a pro' the more you played, and I'm glad the idea got across to the players (I personally felt level 1 was a cakewalk after playing my own game so many times). The difficulty really was to balance the levels despite already knowing how to play, and I hope the game was challenging enough but not too hard to cause people to give up. Actually tips on how to balance such levels would be good...

Thanks for playing and glad you liked the game!

chinykian 2017-12-09 20:07

Your game is great fun(I've been playing for the past hour, but can't get past level 2 - highest I got was 449 =_=)! The mechanics of balancing the plate(s) is pretty engrossing to me, and the time pressure really works well for the game.

If I am to nitpick, I'd say that the tutorial page had me confused for a while. I was actually trying to serve the food to the game title for a couple of minutes(lol). I think it'd help to label the door "Start Game", rather than "Exit".

Lastly, I found myself unintentionally delivering my dishes into the dishwasher - perhaps a change of its placement will help?

Thanks for making such a fun game! =)

chin-jieh 2017-12-10 03:25

@chinykian Thanks for the feedback! Yes the door thing was an oversight and is really misleading, we were piecing the tutorial together in the last 1 hour so we just reused assets without thinking. Serving to the title screen makes me amused, what made you try that? We should really have implemented the door lighting up or so when you're near to show that it could be interacted with (thought of it but no time). The delivery to the dishwasher is indeed interesting - How does that happen?

Glad you liked the game and thanks for the time. There's a proper ending to the game if you still want to try ;)

chinykian 2017-12-10 04:16

@chin-jieh Ah, I should have been more specific XD. Not the title per se, but the dude in the background with the speech bubble stating the title. Thought I had to served him food since he's saying "waiter, please".

As for the dishwasher thing, that happens when I want to align myself to the top left table. I'd align myself vertically first and sometimes I'd end up too close to the dishwasher. XD

chin-jieh 2017-12-10 07:23

@chinykian Oh, that makes sense. Quite amusing still. Actually our initial plan for the tutorial was indeed to serve to somebody saying Waiter Please, but we simply ran out of time hence the cheap door :P

Dishwasher: I can see why that happens! Moving sideways is hard to get used to and vertical is the way to go... interesting interesting. I will thus call it a feature to prevent L-shape movement scumming :DD

chinykian 2017-12-10 07:31

@chin-jieh Genius! =D

2018-02-17 18:51

I AM NOT WAITER MATERIAL is what I've taken away from this game. Really challenging, but super fun! It'll definitely take some time before I can clear dishes successfully or stack more than two dishes, but it's the challenge that makes this game so amusing. 10/10 gr8 game. I'll do my best to reach the ending!!!
