Cute and simple art with a nice taken on the theme ! Great work, cheers !

william-bundy 2017-12-04 11:54

Is there any way you could package the game without an installer?

wskilljoy 2017-12-04 11:54

@william-bundy Yes. I will add a .zip

wibblymat 2017-12-04 11:55

Nice art! Might have been nice to have a mute button for the music though ;)

wskilljoy 2017-12-04 12:00

@william-bundy Added it.

benhumphries 2017-12-04 12:42

Great job! I really like that art and the theme works well!

mruniverse 2017-12-04 12:53

Nice twist on the collect falling objects games. The screen shake effect when you hit a raindrop is very jarring though

wskilljoy 2017-12-04 12:55

@mruniverse I agree. It's meant to give a visual indication if you're not looking at your meter or have your computer muted, but I made it a little too powerful.

kieran-newland 2017-12-04 13:04

Interesting idea. I didn't read the instructions so at first, I didn't realise I was aiming to dodge everything!

Music is a bit repetitive but overall it's a solid compo entry.

niphram 2017-12-04 13:07

Nice twist on the "try to collect everything" idea :)

wskilljoy 2017-12-04 13:07

@kieran-newland Thanks! I've never done game music before, and I'm not a great musician, so this was my first foray into the strangle land of Bosca Ceoil and LMMS.

jackisaacs 2017-12-04 13:36

A bit fast paced, might be good as a mobile game where the screen is longer in height than it is width to see what is coming easier

siarhei-rakuts 2017-12-04 13:39

23 sec! my brain like a snail, game too fast for me)

nysten 2017-12-04 19:29

Oh god this was super fast paced! I like it, though the bricks were unavoidable - if you were underneath it, you didn't have any time to avoid it. The music made me anxious, which was *very* good considering the theme! Thanks for the game!

wskilljoy 2017-12-04 21:16

@nysten Thanks so much for the positive feedback! Everyone I've talked to says that the bricks are unfair, and they're right. If I ever revise the game, I'll remove them.

boltkey 2017-12-05 00:45

Somehow got 36 once. Cute little game. The bricks are unfair, but I feel like it fits the overall feel of the game.

batmanasb 2017-12-05 01:56

Pretty sure you forgot to use time-based movement (aka deltatime), because the game is running way too fast on my monitor (100Hz)

pkenney 2017-12-05 02:00

Thanks for adding the non-installer version!

This was a nice little game - not a to of complexity, but cute art, effective sound effects, and some music. Plus nice camera rumble for impacts!

Everything moved really fast - especially the bricks! My best time was 33 seconds, but I think I was kind of lucky not to get bricked.

Nice job.

wskilljoy 2017-12-05 02:02

@matmanasb Ah, you're right. I based movement off of the game speed of 60 FPS, not taking into account high refresh rates. Oops.

wskilljoy 2017-12-05 02:03

@pkenney Thanks! Bricks are terrible, I know.

mahalis 2017-12-05 04:52

This is fun! As a few other folks have said, it's super challenging on a fast machine - that's not a bad thing though, just means you have to be a lot quicker. The background music's pleasant and the art is cute - great job.

jfraser314 2017-12-07 18:36

Moves way too fast. Maybe make the character can move slower (and also the rain and bricks). Good game though.

fdr 2017-12-10 21:38

69 seconds! antibucket_highscore.png Fun but tough little game. The high-speed bricks are really hard to dodge. Great entry!

cptalbertwesker 2017-12-22 12:00

Real cute little bucket, but I was so focused on the area around me I barely looked at anything, it's like a schmup dodging bullets, but man those bricks are brutal! Took me out at 43 seconds, and then they kept take me out on further attempts too. Nice simple use of the theme, really like it!

Our team does a weekly indie gamedev podcast called Nice Games Club, and we just did a Let's Play episode where we played thirty-six (!!) Ludum Dare 40 games, including yours (which we thought was a great twist on a familiar formula)!
