Hey, neat game!
You got the basics down pat: menu, replay, movement, collision, screenshake, everything is solid there :-)
Some simple things that could help:
- Add sin(t) to the Y position of some of your enemies to give them some simple sweave - Since you have explosion particles, you could have them destroy other enemies for a chain reaction - Your player could blink, or add some particles, when hit - If you add a 1-frame long white circle near the gun when it shoots, it looks like muzzle flash. Looks pretty cool.
I hope to see more games from you soon :-D
I liked it even though it's pretty simple :) Maybe adding some muzzle to the gun like the enemies explosion would look nice! Good job though! nice screenshake
I like the graphics, but the game seems kind of simplistic. More enemies and mechanics would've made it better.
Fun game. Try to add some kind of limit to the bullet firing. I was holding down the button and didn't die :P
Loved the pixel art. The game was fun! :D Hoping to see you in future jams :)

You have a pretty solid game here, i think that it might get 100 times better if you added some little improvements, like a risk/reward system, and some more mechanics though. I totally liked how neat you achieved this, and the fact that you used pico 8 which is a very good software for little games like this. Well done !
This was fun! I agree with some of the other comments that more mechanics would help but for what it is it felt pretty polished!

Simple game, I like the graphics and the fact that it was made with PICO-8. needs more variation though.

Very simple mechanic. I could stand in one place and just fire once in a while to "live". Low points that way - not any incentive to move around much, though and standing in one place kept me alive the whole time. Nice graphics which remind me of a handheld game with good display. Agree with the others, adding some risk/reward or other gameplay elements would be great additions.

Hey! Nice little game! Managed to get 95 highscore! I like simplicity, sounds, UI. Maybe you need to make a bit larger hit box collider. Everything else is great! Good job!
I like the ease of play. You have got the controls down, and the effects are pretty nice. I like the PICO-8 graphics. The whole retro style feels nice and the effects and the graphics fit well together.
I will agree with other comments it does need more variation and some sort of objective. Some risk/reward elements would be a nice touch. Maybe add some different simulations (like dodge incoming targets, hit all targets, etc) Great start though!
I love PICO-8!... hmm.. about game: You can stay at one place and shoots, until time out. Theme are very weakly reflected. In other - good!
well executed game love it.
Simple graphics....No soundtracks...not a really fun game overall..am I running out of time or running out of power? You could add bullet limitations so I won't shoot like crazy.

I don't know if that's on me or on you, but I somehow managed to create some chain reactions while exploding fireballs and really liked how it felt. The screenshake is well done, not too powerful, just enough. The graphics are really simple though and so is the music, but it felt like a retro game and ended up being just fine! Fun entry :)

Simple graphics and gameplay, but its a little fun. Nice entry.
This game has satisfying sound effects and a nice colour palette. I don't really understand why I was fighting jack o' lanterns, but somehow, I was okay with that. :stuck_out_tongue:. I like how the game has two sort of approaches, what with killing as many enemies in a set amount of time, but also having time affect the movement of the character.
The only thing I really had an issue with was that the hit detection was a bit questionable. It seems as though you only get hurt when the enemy passes through the line with your gun. Considering how that actually makes things easier (the second playthrough, when I understood how to play better, I lost no health by just spamming my gun), I guess it's not worth complaining a whole lot. It would be more ideal to make what you see what you have to protect, y'know.
The game was a bit simple and easy (the collision of the player is to small). Also, the player moved slower and slower until the end of the game.
Add more mechanics and polish, and it could become small addictive game.
(ignore this accidental comment that I can't delete)

Simple but well done game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 39 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFwNYcB13dA
