@damnscout 1. He runs a crowdfunding campaign to pay for a rickshaw license 2. He retrains as a software developer 3. He moves back in with his parents
This is a great little game. The way you mix the story and gameplay is really interesting. I would have liked a way to rotate the camera. But overall a fun little LD game.
Lovely relaxing game. I like the characters, and the simplistic gameplay mixed with the music creates a calm atmosphere
I like the simple style of this game, a good story. I found the direction indicator a bit confusing and somtimes the "travels" were a bit too long. I spent a good overall experience playing this game!
I have now also rated your game.
An excellent little game! The tiny world theme belied a distressingly realistic game underneath!
A few specific notes I picked out: I liked how the rickshaw slowed down when someone entered it, it helped give a feeling of exertion to holding down the movement keys. The diagonal movement might have been faster than the cardinal directions though, which came across a little game-y. Also, I was surprised the man who talked about 'never having received a handout' gave such a large tip, I expected him to give bugger all!
Thanks for this little experience, and congratulations on making it within the time limit!
Well done! The direction indicator got me confused at first, so I had to go around half the world. Also I would have loved a way to rotate the camera. Other than that I enjoyed the conversations a lot. Nice touch :)
An interesting game!
It was a varied little world - the distinct areas felt different enough to give the illusion of traveling across a populated world. Sometimes it was a bit hard to navigate towards the camera - I think that a tracking camera would have worked better for the exploration.
Storywise, it was a really sad game. Not only were many of the passengers completely oblivious, the ending really struck the point home. Well done! The mood was well supported by the slow music in the background. Perhaps some "inner monologue" could be added, for the long trips between passengers, for a deeper insight into our protagonist's backstory.
>Transporting people, >Some nice, some oblivious. >...so much wasted work.
Sooo depressing!
But so true.
Interesting concept. Audio was basic, but at least there was audio! Graphics were also a little basic. Would have like to see some animation with the rickshaw driver. Like a lot of comments, I would have loved to rotate the camera. It would have also been nice to have a timer for some of the passengers. Have the amount of money received decrease the longer you take.
Great start to a game.
The melancholy is strong in this game :) The dialogues were interesting, but to me the game was lacking compelling gameplay. Graphics are nice and you definitely stayed true to the theme!
Would have liked to have more contrast between passanger text and the ground. Compared to "driver" text, it was a lot harder to read. Also would have been nice to be able to control the camera. Could at least have fiddled with it and checked out some vistas while going for the next passanger.
Great concept. A bit long to go around, but the story carries it ownward. Dang sad ending :)
The target arrow looks weird, but once you know which way to go it's fine.
This is a nice little diversion. I enjoyed walking the rickshaw around.
I do wish you could go a little faster, or that the fares you take on would generate closer to your current position. Some of the longer "drives" seemed to go on longer than they perhaps could have (although the banter was a clever way of mitigating that).
Overall, a solid effort for the time frame. I enjoyed it.
Great game. I especially liked the little details here and there, like the rickshaw getting slower when loaded. Just that, the camera position was a bit uncomfortable, but other than that, it was great. Graphics pretty nice too
