I like the monster, and it is cool how you did the code from actual scratch.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD33 → Childhood Monsters

yeah looks cool! :D
The evil laugh was great, even though I can't rate yours for the audio.
One can only wonder where all those children go after I touch them... My belly? The waking world? The deepest, darkest pits of Mexico? A white van? Some mysteries might never be solved.
Hitbox was very small, kind of difficult to get used to. I liked how the enemy AI would run away from you. My final score was 1250.
I really like the monster. the hitboxes are a bit small so it's hard to catch the childerns
Reminds me of Zombies Ate My Neighbors. I liked the speed of the monsters, would be cool if he had an attack to slow down and stop the kids.
cool game
5 on the theme :)
Java devs will actuall see the amount of efford put into the code. Nice work keep it up!
the laugh is awesome! but it crashes after about 100sec for me
Unfortunately it doesn't work on Ubuntu Linux 64bit Openjdk 1.8.0 :(
Monster vs children hitbox is a bit too small.
Awesome soundtrack & evil laugh sound :D.
The monster is terrifying! Love it!
Had to go install Java 8

Not a lot to say about this one. I found the monster sprite quite charming.
1st Thought:
Perfect use of theme!
Pros:
#datmusicthough
If the art were done in a darker style, this game would legit creep me out haha.
Controls felt good, monster speed vs children speed was perfect.
Cons:
The plain blue background. It kind of took away from the game I felt.
Overall:
Nice simple game. Good job
The sprites were nice, even if the animation lacked a little bit. The background tiles were well done but even so the background seemed a little dull. Transition tiles between terrain types make a huge improvement in disguising the "grid".
A word of advice from a fellow Java developer: Making everything from scratch is a good learning experience, and using external libraries may be bothersome. But for making games, especially when time constrained, it can be extremely useful to use a framework or an engine.
Take a look at LibGDX, it helped me a whole lot!
Score 1150.
Indeed small hitbox, but that makes for those situations where you run around a kid to grab him!
Pretty fun.
Very nice project guys, i really love it, please check our game too and if you liked it give us a vote. Look for Road to hell and enjoy.
