That's very impressive and cool, but it's easy when you understand the trick ^^

I think the video idea is great, but I messed around with it until I figured it out. Great work yo!

When I first started the game I couldn't read the tutorial as I was searching for good music ;)
But awesome Idea.

hercludes 2015-04-20 18:54

Put music in the file, then it just kind of sits there. Sit around for the tutorial to finally finish and nothing happens. So unfortunately I can not play it. By the way, looking at your source code, you should try to modulate your classes and all that into header files, would make reading it much nicer. I see you have a "nc/ncprecomputer.hpp" and some other headers there that are not open source, you should know that that's against the rules afaik :P

Well, the idea of using own musisc is cool...

philstrahl 2015-04-20 20:29

I wasn't able to load an mp3/flac/wav/ogg placed in the .exe folder, despite even giving it a nice name with no funky characters, so i only read the tutorial a couple of times...
One thing to remind is that on a German keyboard layout the Z and Y keys are switched which would make your scheme quite taxing to press for me, so why not settle for A S D instead? ;)

Incredibely cool game and idea!
Once I figured out the trick to make the mp3 work I went through my library and a lots of fun!

Amazing work with the shaders. Very impressive to write those in 48 hours. I find it funny that you wrote a shader to make the buildings instead of making some squares in photoshop.

Side note, you should change this to a jam entry because you don't want to open source all your code.

lamogui 2015-04-20 23:13

@PachowStudios Shaders were the only way to have animated buildings with the music and I don't like photoshop, I prefer coding.

And for the open source (@hercludes), some people use private audio libs like fmod. All the game code written during theses 48h was shared only external audio lib is missing. Consider that my audio lib is like fmod: not open (or at least now in this ugly state)... I don't find it fair because many jamers use game-engines and finnaly just open source scripts, so it's the same for me: I open-sourced my game script...

Sweet! Another music game. This blew my mind plus I love electronic music! we should work together, I more of a composer and designer then a coder but I am fascinated by the audio analyzing code, please tell when you release the audio library. This stuff is amazing :)

Using the music is a nice idea, good work here

plams 2015-04-25 14:23

I wasn't able to get the game working under Wine, seems drag'n'drop is broken or something else. Shame, I really wanted to try it.

tanser 2015-04-25 17:11

Very innovative idea but I suggest putting all of the explanation on one simple screen where I can read it all and proceed. The way you have done it it takes quite a lot of time.

shadowstryker 2015-04-29 03:48

Excellent game. Really like how we can use our own music for it.

teamflare 2015-05-03 11:51

Really interesting. Also did not know about this shadertoy site, neat. :)

reaper 2015-05-11 14:46

the shader didn't work for me and the program crashed :( #vista_probs
