Nice use of the theme, and I like the animation style.
I think a textured background would have helped, because it took me a bit to figure out whether the screen was scrolling around the mower or vice versa.
Movement wasn't that smooth, and I couldn't get the gas :( but it was a good idea!
you nailed the feeling of driving a lawn mower. i had fun trying to collect a huge group of critters around the gas can. at first i couldn't tell if i was moving because there was no background texture
thanks for the game!
This is really good for a first time Unity game. I enjoyed mowing over the rabbits with the lawn mower. I definitely give you credit for hand-drawing your art assets and scanning them in. That's something that I've always wanted to do, but didn't know if it could be completed under the Ludum Dare time constraints.
At the beginning it felt like an confusing empty game. There was just no recognition of what you did(like nothing happens when you "mow" a cute thing. A score addition would've made a huge difference, nothing happens with the gas when you hit it). I like the mow texture. Mechanics of the lawn mower are nice.
It's a game. It's nice, but to me incomplete.
Good job thought. Especially for your first game. Maybe it's an better idea to practice first, and then join a game jam.
I think if you have added a score counter to tell how many animals you have mowed down, it would have made the game better.
Anyway, not a bad effort for a first game from scratch. I encourage you to continue working on the game and participating in future jams.
Hmmm. Hard to tell where you are when the gas can is out of site. Would have been better with ANY sound and some sort of scoring mechanism (if just a simple count of critters destroyed).
I did have fun doing donuts... lol
