I tried my best to hotseat with myself but wasn't sure how I can attack something.

ah you click your unit, click the attack(sword) icon, then click the unit you want to attack. Try hitting escape before selecting your unit to make sure the selected action is none first. Minor bug with selecting only working if the selected action is none.

Sadly, most people won't be able to play this as it requires 2 people. It would be nice to have an AI to play against (but I know that's a lot more work).

From what I played, I noticed the UI doesn't really give enough feedback. This means you should show that a click has done something. For example, when you pick up the pieces, you don't really know if clicking on it did anything.

IMO if the gameboard is smaller it could be more exciting. It will encourage players to fight each other and start thinking about the resource trade-off at the beginning. Doodle is cute.

By the way, you should put the "Note: If you are having trouble..." thing at top or make it boldface or something because the bug happens all the time.

Thanks for the feedback.
@mappum yeah I really wanted to fix up the UI but I didn't get started with the idea until late after spending a bunch of time going in different unsuccessful directions. Will definitely keep in mind when I get around to updating it.

a bit unintuitive, also can't see what's selected

imef 2012-08-29 00:54

I'm not sure I understand how to play that...

The UI was a bit confusing. You only had 48 hours, but you can't typically expect people to do that much reading. More feedback within the game would go a long way

Seems like an interesting start, I was having too much trouble figuring out how the move and attack worked to get far in it.

lathomas64 2012-08-31 13:00

just realized I had the units in tetris formations for my screenshot.

Nice turnbased strategy game! With some more graphics and in-game explenation it could be a really awesome game

lathomas64 2012-09-02 00:02

so there is apparently a <strikeout>bug</strikeout> feature that units can't act the first turn they come out. Let's just say they are tired from training and need a turn to get ready for battle.

Didn't understand a single thing of this game.. Would have been a lot better with at least making a small tutorial for it.

You clearly know how to choose the right gray background-color thought ;-)

Kindly,
Alex

nice start, but really needs a tutorial
