This ocean is truly vast, I found the dr, but not the black creature. Excellent entry!

kylerhoades 2010-12-20 05:23

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it.

hamumu 2010-12-21 01:22

I got to doctor and the depth charges... pretty sure I met the black creature, but since depth charges don't affect anything but the ground, I just followed him around a bit, then rammed him to discover that doing so is fatal. I think I was missing something... maybe something I didn't DISCOVER?

All the wide-open spaces (and the camera not scrolling until you get near edges) amount to not the most fun exploring experience. It felt like luck whether I stumbled across something or not in the great wide open.

Where are you Dr. Bennett??

***SPOILERS***

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it.

The level design was the rushed part so the main discovery is really easy to miss. I want to fix it up later, and I'll try and improve the scrolling and make the depth charges affect enemies.

This is what you missed: The black creature has an underground lair that you can only get to with the depth charges. In it are a few more of them and a crashed spaceship, which is my highly original way of implying that you have discovered aliens.

A bit dry and slow, but a nice game.
At the first fish onslaught I thought the whole ocean would be like this. Thank god it wasn't :)
Found the doctor and depth charges, thanks to your spoiler also the space ship. When you respawn, do you have to find things again? 'cause the message triggers didn't work the second time after I got killed.

dslayer27 2010-12-21 22:36

Well that was interesting, found the charges and other Dr. didn't really end though, but it's good.

A tip for later games: You can usually achieve the atmosphere and feel you're looking for in a much smaller area than you'd think!

I'd definitely change how the camera works, a little ambient music would have made the exploration a little less monotonous.

Found the doctor, no sign of the black creature though. After I realized that the level just wraps around on the left and right sides I gave up :P

Nifty game for ten hours :P

I didn't find the black creature, but I did carpet bomb the entire ocean... a lot.... repeatedly. Eventually I found a deep cave with black jelly fish, but one of them caught me. I just didn't feel like trying again.

I pretty much echo Hammu's comment in it's entirety. A better camera would be the first improvement to make.

sirgustav 2011-01-10 21:19

carpet bombing was fun for a few minutes, this entry is missing some sound and good moody music. perhaps some bubbles and stuff that makes the water look like your moving in the world, sometimes i didn't know if I was moving or not since there wasn't any ground or fishes around, and while the camera did help somewhat with this, I foound it mosly irritating and lagging behind.
