I noticed that it let me discover atomic energy without nuclear war, even though my peace was at -255.
Every tick a random disaster is chosen and its conditions are checked. If the conditions aren't right, it doesn't happen.
good fun, If i had bothered entering i would have given it a high score, might enter with something small next time just to be able to vote
I've been wiped out by barbarians, by regular war, and global atomic war. I'm good at this!
I like it. Sort of like a subset of Civ. I had a similar idea that I didn't pursue because I didn't know how to enter any conflict into it, but I think you succeeded.
A philosoraptor! I was developing an artsy fartsy society, but then they were wiped out by war, quite realistic I'd say! This was actually quite entertaining, some meters to show the current risks and how your choices would affect them would make the game logic a bit clearer.
ps I am reading every comment and I hope to eventually release a far more polished version of this game.
Cool game and concept, though it could use some more clear instruction. My city kept getting sacked by barbarians, and it didn't seem real clear why.
Generally, though, it's a good game with promise for further development. Good job.
Neat little game, my friend. :)
I like the use of the theme.
Bit of humor in the use of the Philosoraptor for the philosophy icon. I like that. :)
Very interesting concept!
I tried to be peaceful, but somehow my population always got wiped out by war. A ingame hint about why you lost would be helpful.
The game seems to lack some kind of danger meter. I also dont get what is the purpose of peace. I mean, each time I have positive ammount of peace I'm defeated by war...
Regarding war / peace: I originally planned for many more "self destruction" endings, that would happen if your peace was too low. As it stands, you only destroy yourself once you have nukes. The rest of the time, you're a peaceful city state and someone comes in and wipes you out.
I'm fond of Civilization, so the tech tree similarities stand out. It's nice to have a familiar set of options (Writing, Animal Husbandry, Irrigation). After I was wiped out by war in the 2000s BC, I didn't stay with this one to try again. Maybe there's some interesting divergence from Civilization just a thousand years ahead of me, but as I saw text counters incrementing, I did not feel the story of progress. I felt a bit impatient and expecting another aspect.
This is a cool concept, and I really liked that the tech tree mirrored Civilization. I'm not sure why everyone kept dying to war though, I got the 'good' ending the first time I played though it. I had to actively try to get war, and it took me getting nuclear weapons with negative peace to die.
There are problems, though. There's not any feedback besides some numbers and it's hard to know when you might be in danger from war or nukes, plus, there's not much reason to play more than once or twice. Further polish should help.
Hmm. It's hard to understand what i need to do.
pretty cool! Loved the philosoraptor! xD I caught on pretty quick, although i'm not too fond of games like this. Good job though.
