I really liked the way the critters moved, and how their bodies exploded. It's really dumb that you can only shoot sideways, though I can see it's obviously for art reasons (forget the art, just let the bullets go in 8 directions anyway!). All the art is really cool, actually.
Definitely a totally pointless game. I played it right after wicked's game and it's the exact same experience (but bonus to you for having bombs to liven it up a bit) - just run in a circle with fire held down. This could become a good game, definitely, but there's really no reason to play it right now.
I really like the sprites, but the horiz-only shooting was a big downer for me, some cool space music and a bg would make this much better, not to mention some 8-dir shooting ;-)
Took some effort to figure out what the chain reaction was. Other than that, the gameplay seems (to me) to be about running around in a circle, not hitting enemies, dropping bombs every now and then.
On my first try I didn't even know you can drop bombs (or shoot), and I just ran in a circle until there were so many sprites on screen that the game slowed down(!) =)
Nice, but gets repetetive very fast.
Not much going on, gets old pretty quick in it's current state :/
Gets old after a minute. Sprites look fun.
The gameplay degenerates to just running around in circles trying to keep the chain reactions going, which, while fun for a while and to see how long you can keep at it, gets somewhat repetitive. Nice while it lasts though =). Missed being able to shoot up and down.
Fun! I like the mechanism of the exploding guys. You seem to have a lot of control over the game, which is great.
Too bad the game isn't finished, I think it has potential. I definitely enjoyed playing whatever there is to be played though. :)
like other folks, it would be more fun to play if more of the elements of a game were in, such as score, more polished graphics (like a background), maybe some things to hide behind, or a larger world map, etc.
like dr. petter's game, the only way to win is not to play at all :) that being said, a good start!
Nice... for a while.
Ahhh pixels :)
Aw. Wasn't much fun to be honest, but could have been great with some more thought and work. The gun mechanics and graphics seems to have been a big focus but in the final product it's useless since you can only fire left and right while most enemies come at you from random directions involving vertical components.
The chain reaction is also a bit odd since it's not at all clear what the motivation for it is. Enemies just sort of burst if they're nearby other dead enemies. Enemy movement patterns are great though, I like their relentless pulsating motion. Pixels are also very nice, but a bit sparse (lots of empty grey space).
Death sequence obviously isn't finished, but even some simple sound or flash would have helped there.
Next time, perhaps... (or post-compo?)
the first time i played i was avoiding everything not knowing about the bombs and lazer, i had so many aliens on my screen everything was in slow mo, slower and slower until everything stopped, and i slowly approached the halted clump behind me and accepted it's comforting embrace.
then i played it again and blowed them up good!
