Some feedback thoughts: If the player can personalize (name, assign characteristics) the pets more they will have more attachment when they die and the deaths will feel more meaningful. Also the jump scare should not fade, it is a jump scare. Do not fade it in, which is why I giggled and thought it was cute/silly and was not spooked/startled. make it loud. make it fast and in the players face. It is not the pixels/pixel art that makes it not scary, it is the slow fade in and lack of a loud audio trigger to pair.
