| Oct 3 22:04:11 | Limited Heart | ♥ 2 | Well I guess I am destined to die sad... Really enjoyed this one! Super different and original compared to a lot of the other games out there. I love that you took a pretty common existiong puzzle concept and made something fun and unique out of it! The vibe is great with the balance and humour and the scene in the middle gives such a game jam vibe of "It didn't work. I already know. Deal with it" which is so funny. I like the colour contrasts of the pieces which kept them very clear which piece was which. I would agree with a previous comment that the hexagons look a little odd and would look cleaner if they lined up (but we also made a hex grid and can confirm that we still have no idea how the code worked so I accept your blaming it on Unity haha). A minor thing that would improve the gameplay would be if there was more space to be able to put spare spaces when they weren't being used (or a separate space, or the ability to zoom out to have more space) because trying to get pieces out of the way was almost a puzzle in itself sometimes! Not me complaining about the limited space lol. The audio matched the vibe really well and didn't get annoying when looped which was great! A small sound or visual indication when clicking on a tile would add that extra bit of polish to the game. The way you used the story and cutscenes to introduce and explain the controls was really good and far more engagin than just written instructions. The storyline and little jokes were well written, well voiced and I liked the style. Overall, a really great entry that's unlike any other jam game I've played before! Now just... press space... | |
| Oct 3 22:29:17 | 25m 06s | KAAMOS | ♥ 8 | Looks great! Very polished and coherent UI giving me Disco Elysium vibes. A really complete and fleshed out game with great mechanics and brilliant graphics. I did seem to soft lock myself the first time I played. I completed the first conversation and tried to leave but I must have accidentally gone back into the base as the first conversation restarted but locked after offering me the goods but had no goods to give me. The audio doesn't seem to be working in the embedded game as well. Let me know if it is working in future and I'll come back to rate it! Really beautiful entry which plays like a full game and I would be really surprised to hear this was a jam game if I came across this in the wild! |
| Oct 3 22:56:08 | 26m 51s | Abyss Ascent | ♥ 4 | Noooo! I want to know what happens next! Looks like the start of a really great story! The atmosphere is great and the little bit of world lore sounded really cool and immediately engaging. In that short time, I wanted to know more! I would say it wasn't quite clear that I needed to click and drag to allocate people to tasks so I was a little confused for a second but got there in the end! Having done the top task first and getting story, I also got confused when it felt like nothing happened when I allocated the second couple of tasks but then I noticed the times had decreased. Some kind of audio/visual indication that something had happened would have been really nice. I feel like it's the basis for a cool mechanic and I would have loved to be able to have more challenges in managing people, tasks and making choices on what to do and what to keep in my inventory. The characters and backgrounds are really cool and well used. The shaking of the background was a really nice way to adding some movement and making the surroundings reflect the happenings in the story. Really tiny point would be that I would have moved the characters down a bit as I felt like their head should be more central (although that's just a really tiny random point and just my preference aha). The UI was cohesive and choice of font fit the vibe really well. I really dislike making UI so congrats on getting it all working as you intended! The icons do take away a little from the overall aesthetic of the game so I feel like using premade sprites would have been worth considering to fit better with the AI generated graphics. (I just wish you had more time to write story :P lmk when you release a book set in this world) Overall, a great start on promising game mechanics that fit well together and have the potential to make a really interesting game! Vibes are immaculate. 10/10 atmosphere. |
| Oct 14 15:28:55 | 256h 32m | Motorhome Rabbit | ♥ 3 | I was somewhat confused at first but oh my gosh I loved this game! The cute graphics, the funny voice acting and the multiple endings were all amazing and made me chuckle. I agree that knowing what things do before purchasing them might be nice, but the mystery item buying was also almost a novelty in itself and the fact that you can quite easily and safely make money meant that buiying random stuff wasn't punishing anyway. I bought stuff for the curiosity! I was not expecting this to have multiple endings but it made a simple game sooo replayable in the way that items interacted with each other and wanting to try different things. The way I was so surprised when this cute rabbit selling ice cream suddenly was running a sex service out of the cute pink van?! Kept me playing to try and find the different endings and test combinations. A tiny thing that would add a bit more polish might be to give some visual feedback when hovering over items to indicate that they can be clicked to use their action. I was confused as to what I needed to do at first since nothing seemed to be happening when I clicked "Finish" which I thought would have some kind of end turn effect (also, just entirely my fault for not reading the instructions beforehand aha). A little darken or shrink on hovering would be a simple change to add a little more feedback in the gameplay. The audio feedback with placing things and the variety of voice sounds was really great! Another tiny thing that I love which just adds some variation is a bit of random pitch variation. A really small thing but, when placing items or the "da da da da" when doing an action, the sound could have a bit of pitch randomness which makes it a little less samey and adds to the polish without having to record multiple sounds. Overall, an amazingly polished game, especially for compo! Only had a couple of feedback things I could think of to improve it which are obviously so small and not necessary in a time constrained game jam! Love the vibe and the way everything fits together and stays interesting and replayable. Super well done for a very impressive entry! One of my fave so far! Edit: Just looked at your other games and saw they're all rabbits and I'm obsessed lol |
| Oct 14 16:01:39 | 32m 44s | Shop 'n Block | ♥ 2 | Really cute game and a nice idea! Was a little unclear on the gameplay, whether customers actually bought items, as it seemed that after a while, items stopped being taken from the shop, or I had I had to just continuously stock while keeping a path clear as the cat got in the way. It seemed that ratings went down if they couldn't get through, but this was unclear as some other people have said so maybe a little visual indication (a sad face above their head or a speech bubble saying they couldn't get through before they turn around) would have been nice. A way to get ratings back up might have been nice as well but that's probably another thing that would be a time sink in a jam to add more layers to the gameplay! A bug(?) I encountered was that sometimes a red hexagon would appear on customers. It seemed to be when there was more than one customer was in and the second couldn't get through (I think?). I also didn't get any sound in the game. The graphics were very cute and I appreciate the cat a lot! The variety of customers and items was nice. The whole thing was very cohesive and looked like a proper game! The way the customers walk back and forth and pause a little make it more interesting and more like they're browsing rather than just walking straight through. Maybe throwing some weirder shapes in there too as the game goes on would make the difficulty scale in a more interesting way as well. Overall, super cute vibes and a nice idea, although, gameplay could be clearer. Edit: I went back in and turned the sound up in the settings option and this seemed to activate the sound. Could still hear it after I turned it back down to where it was originally so I don't think it was my pc being too quiet. The audio added a lot and made it much clearer that they were buying items. It also made me realise (I think) that the red hex comes up when the item they are looking for is not in stock. Like previous comments, some indication of what they are looking for would be nice. You could just put this in a thinking bubble or something. I'm now about 90% sure that people stopped buying things when I hit a score of 25. They just walked through and didn't pick anything up. |
| Oct 14 16:16:14 | 14m 35s | Magic Fox Diary | ♥ 2 | A very cute little game and the different endings makes it replayable despite being short. The art is very nice and the whole thing is very cohesive and fits together very nicely. The writing is done well with some good variation and, again, makes you want to continue the story and play again. The amount of options and having save files really makes it feel like a properly fleshed out game and not a jam game! The save files were particularly usefule in trying to get the different endings, although it is a bit sad that there's no good one, but I guess some things are just not meant to be :( One thing that could add some polish would be to play with the way the text appears on the screen. Given that the story and text is such a major part of the gameplay, it would be nice to see this a bit smoother with it maybe a small fade, type or scroll in rather than just appearing. A very minor thing though and another thing that would have taken up more time in a jam of course! Overall, a super cute game with great vibes and impeccable writing that makes you want to keep playing! |
| Oct 15 00:05:02 | 7h 48m | AnathemA | ♥ 3 | Really great game overall! The atmosphere was well created with the mix of the dark graphics and the spooky audio. It was difficult and you did feel the limited space without you forcing the theme too hard. I did get brutally killed at first and only figured out how to shoot after coming to the comments! I can see you added the "wasd" in game and you didn't have time to add the rest, nut please please add it to the game page as I feel like it would save idiots like me having to die many times then scroll through the comments! I am actually terrible at games like this and did give up after a few attempts only getting as far as the fourth level on my best try but the gameplay that I did get to play seemed really good. The introduction of a new enemy was nice and the levels felt like they scaled well. I particularly liked the trade off between the slow relaods and actually firing which meant bullet conservation and reloading whenever possible was always something to think about. I really like the graphics being dark with the red highlights, the visual cues of the aim were really nice and very useful. All art in between was also really nice and really fit the whole vibe. Sometimes, I feel like full art when actual gameplay is pixel art can sometimes be a little mismatched but this fit together very nicely. There was so much feedback to everything you did in the game which made it all so immersive. The shadows from the one light source made the whole background so dynamic with the constant moevemt. The visual feedback when firing was also very nice with the bright contrasting flash and the screen shake, the cape movement was a really nice touch as well, all of which really made the game feel very polished. One tiny thing on the audio that could have made the game feel even more polished would be to have a little bit of pitch variation in the shots and damage taking sounds in particular. It's fairly easy to do in Godot but makes it feel a tiny bit less samey. The UI was very cohesive in the levels as well as in between. The only thing with the UI in the levels would be that I wish it was little brighter since it blends into the background a bit too much so it takes a bit more effort to try to see my ammo and equipped weapon than I would like. The game is also incredibly well written despite that not being the main focus of gameplay. I really love the wording of everything adding to the atmosphere and the flavour text for the upgrades as well. Overall, an amazingly polished game that I wouldn't ever think was a jam game if I saw out in the wild. Everything comes together so nicely to create a great atmosphere and all the little details are very impressive! |
| Oct 15 01:28:15 | 1h 23m | ROLLiE and the Desert Drive | ♥ 3 | Awesome game! I really love turn based games and the composition of abilities while keeping it random was a really nice mechanic! It kept me engaged for wayyy longer than a jam game should (played for well over an hour) so amazingly well done! The completeness of it was so nice to see in a jam gamne with the instruction screen and menu. The variety of the abilities was really nice and scaled well with the trade off between piece size and strength being well balanced. I would have liked to see some kind of status effect on each character though as it was hard to keep track of who had bit rot on them and when damage was going to be reflected etc. The graphics were really cute and all fit together really nicely, the game all felt well polished and loved the background grid movement and idle animations of the characters keeping everything lively. One thing I would say on the pieces would be that their animations may have been a little too lively. The amount that they grew when placing a piece was too much and a bit distracting, especially when moving many things around. I did like the growth when hovering although, again, this was maybe a little too much but that's just my preference! The gradual introduction of new pieces was nice although, about halfway through, I didn't feel the need to adjust my loadout at all since there wasn't much new. I was doing fine with what had so lost that planning aspect of the gameplay a bit but I guess it depends how different players approach the loadout. I did appreciate having the extra area to save pieces I didn't necessarily need, and the appearance of the friendly loot robot was an really great touch! Overall, really great, engaging and addictive game! Incredibly well polished, well done! |
| Oct 20 16:10:40 | 134h 42m | johto | ♥ 1 | Great little entry, simple idea but engaging and looks really cute! I like the warning lines and sound effects which give a nice sense of chaos when they all start coming in! The only thing I would say (similar to previous comments) is that it would be nice for the difficulty to scale a little quicker to start with then maybe slow it down as it felt like it was very easy until it was really quite hard! |
