Apr 27 12:08:20 Lil'Drill - The Chiseller of Balls ♥ 6 I have to admit that I had some trouble at the start trying to understand what I needed to do... Once I got it, the game was fun! Nice graphics and polished design! Plus, digging through space gave me serious TTGL vibes... ;-) Is the music original/made specifically for the jam, or did you use existing tracks and made the sound effects? Cheers!
Apr 27 12:16:12 7m 52s Into the Mines ♥ 1 Cool concept and very good implementation! The physics felt very natural to me and the pixel art is on point. The game is challenging enough that you want to try and improve yourself, but not so much that you want to ragequit after only a few attempts. I really liked it, good job!
Apr 27 13:20:18 1h 04m Blackout ♥ 9 The game looks and sounds amazing! I especially loved the audio, great composition and the mood is excellent! I think I would have liked the story too, but I cannot progress because I can't seem to find neither cigarettes nor a sharp object for lockpicking... Maybe it's just me though! I think I'll probably come back to your game when I have more time and finish it, because it's really enjoyable. Great job to everyone involved, this is a super solid entry for the jam! EDIT: finished it and liked it even more! I must admit the ending felt a little abrupt, but it was still super enjoyable to play! I agree with others that some dialogues could be skippable, especially if you click multiple times on the same things to see if the interacion changes or if you discover something new though... Cheers and great little game!
Apr 28 10:01:07 20h 40m Insight ♥ 2 First of all, I only played the fixed version of the game and not the release version. I really liked the art, it is lovely. The music (although I think it wasn't original, since you opted out of the category?) is simple but supports the graphic style and helps in setting the mood, which is the strongest point of the game in my opinion. I also really liked how you interpreted the theme of the jam, so big props for that! That said, the life mechanic feels a bit unpredictable: at times you take little to no damage and other times massive amounts, with virtually no change in speed and impact angle (at least that's how i perceived it). Also, I get it that you wanted to slow down the pace and let players immerse in this nicely crafted atmosphere, but I think the gameplay was steered a bit too much towards rewading a slow and careful approach. Finally, I personally feel that if the release version is completely broken (as you put it), you probably should have taken more time for playtesting the build before release. I don't, but I know there are people in this community that do not play bug-fixed versions and only rate what you release within the deadline of the competition (and, to be honest, it's an understandable and fair way of giving feedbak)... But all in all, those are just minor criticisms/suggestions and I really enjoyed the experience as a whole. Great job to everyone involved, I hope more people will play and rate your game! Cheers
Apr 28 13:05:55 3h 04m Radication ♥ 0 Pretty nice game, I had fun playing it. Though I always like tile placing games... ;-) I agree with others in that your "hand" tiles overlap with what you already placed on the map, thus become difficult to read... Maybe placing them on an opaque background would have sufficed to improve readability? Or highliting them in some way? Anyways, good job!
Apr 28 13:19:03 13m 08s Purgatory ♥ 3 Nice entry! It was really fun to play, and the pace becomes positively hectic towards the end! I agree that sometimes the actions of the characters are a bit paradoxical or may feel out of context, but overall I found it still was intuitive enough to make the right guess. I liked the idea of the random face generator and it works really well for the game (i played three times just to check the random variants it produced). Good job! Cheers
Apr 29 11:06:02 21h 46m Blue Square and the Mystery Cave ♥ 1 Beautiful game! I really enjoyed playing it, the last puzzles were pretty creative and rewarding to complete. The game in general felt very polished and the use of the mechanic derived from the theme was impeccable. Great job! Cheers
Apr 29 11:26:06 20m 04s SPEKS - A Murder Mystery ♥ 1 I really liked the concept, as well as the interpretation of the theme. The mechanics are well implemented and it's interesting to dig deep and try to discover the secret (no spoilers). However, the text speed is really slow (and its associated sound becomes kind of annoying after a while)... Without some kind of skipping/speeding option, it becomes somewhat tedious to get your answers, especially if you messed up the first time you tried and had to restart (like I did). That said, the game is still enjoyable and it's remarkable you managed to do so much by yourself in two days! Good job! Cheers
Apr 29 12:02:57 36m 51s There's a monster under the bed ♥ 3 I really liked the atmosphere and the child-like drawings were awesome! Overall, the game is nice and fun to play, but it could use some little improvements. A few suggestions that I think could benefit the playing experience: - the camera should be centered on the character in my opinion (it lags behind too much). - the collision with the trees is too large in respect with their models; - the highlight for potions/keys isn't obvious enough; - the audio could use a bit more "love" for the main gameplay part, as it feels a bit empty most of the time. I am probably biased on this though, as I like very busy audio, so don't take this as a universal fact... That said, I still enjoyed playing and the story and mood are very cool! Good job to the team! Cheers
May 6 13:48:56 169h 45m Callous ♥ 1 I really enjoyed the experience! I was a bit lost at the start, but then I got a grip on it and worked my way through the maze (you wonder at first why there are so many touchstones lying around...). Although I found the exploration (and sound) a little repetitive, the game has a very interesting concept and implementation and I think the lostness/repetitiveness works in favor of the player's immersion. Oh, and I loved the graphics! It's a very nicely crafted story and original design, I think you did a great job with this! Cheers
May 13 08:14:10 162h 25m Underblood ♥ 0 Nice concept, neatly executed! Even though very simple, it's pretty addictive to play and I wanted to try and improve myself. The music also works well to impart some sense of urgency to the player. Good job! Cheers
May 13 08:19:24 5m 14s Where are my sexy red boots ♥ 1 Cool mechanic, I'd like to see it explored more! The game is really short though and would benefit from more variety in puzzles... That said, the art style and music are cool and the game is fun, so good job! Cheers
May 13 08:27:32 8m 08s Dyb ♥ 0 The game is fun to play and good looking, but like @oco I got softlocked at that checkpoint because the pigs/boars kept killing me as I respawned... If there's a way to prevent this, please let me know and I'll gladly finish the game! Cheers
May 18 10:05:51 121h 38m Down Town ♥ 0 Cool game, I like the fact that you kept it short and made it replayable to try and improve on your best score. Probably the 1 minute time limit is a bit too short to explore properly though... multiple time options would have been nice (like 5, 2 and 1 minute). I also agree with others that the instructions are a bit unclear at the start, but you get the hang of it quickly! Good job, cheers!
May 18 10:17:02 11m 11s Mindcraft 2: Robe Squadron ♥ 2 The concept is really cool, but I think the game lacks a little bit of feedback... as it is, without knowing what the aim of your concepts should be, it feels kind of pointless (in the sense that you don't know what to strive for, what your objective is)... That said, I still had fun trying to gain followers and, especially, trying to tie together my topics in a logical and consequential manner (just for the sake of it)! As I said, I think the concpet is really interesting and it could be expanded upon a lot. Oh, and the music is also nice! Good job! Cheers EDIT: I realized I'm sometimes too blunt when speaking to others, so I wanted to clarify that what I wrote is meant as constructive criticism... I didn't mean to bash on your game at all! I hope you continue to work on this kind of projects, as they are really interesting and could lead to very nice games! Cheers again
May 18 13:32:38 3h 15m Captain Jack's Revenge ♥ 0 Nice platformer! It feels good to play and the graphics are really nice! I found some invisible walls too, but could still get around them with my op jumps... Good job with this, it's really enjoyable and well made! Cheers
May 18 13:50:26 17m 48s Lost in the Reef ♥ 1 Great little game! The atmosphere and pace are nice and the music, despite being very simple, works well to set the mood. I really got lost at first, until I started memorizing the labyrinth a bit and it became progressively more feasible to reach the goal... Then I discovered I needed to return to the start! I would have preferred the classic "a" and "d" to turn, but I still really liked the handling and I think it was a good choice to make the world rotate, instead of the submarine, as it made it more difficult to take notice of "landmarks" in your surroundings. Speaking of which, a few more "notable" spots could have been useful to navigate the maze... All that said, great job on this one! Cheers
May 18 13:55:21 4m 55s Falling & Shooting ♥ 0 Nice! This was really, really fun to play! Good choice on the music too, it's a great track! Cheers
May 18 14:02:02 6m 41s Random Deep ♥ 1 Really interesting concept, the random navigation felt unexpected and new to me! I think the game suffers from the absence of sound, which could have helped in filling the "emptyness" of the rooms... That said I still enjoyed it, I hope you get the final ratings you need to get scores! Cheers
