| Apr 27 02:11:08 | Deep Space | ♥ 0 | A nice simple game, the uninverted Y controls are throwing me a bit | |
| Apr 27 03:02:49 | 51m 41s | Future Ants | ♥ 2 | Fun to watch and poke at once I had figured out the controls. Overall I think it would be improved if there was a little more explanation given to the controls and mechanics. |
| Apr 27 03:24:09 | 21m 20s | Turtruckin' | ♥ 1 | Very enjoyable! My one nitpick is that having to use both the control key and WASD can cause some annoying accidents if you end up pressing both at the same time. |
| Apr 27 05:12:18 | 1h 48m | Caverns of Mal'Dur | ♥ 1 | Looks super intriguing but unfortunately, I can't seem to get past the tutorial page. Clicking on the Start Run button doesn't do anything either in or out of fullscreen mode and it doesn't seem like pressing any keys has any effect either. |
| Apr 27 06:43:53 | 1h 31m | Sharpy wheel | ♥ 0 | Also getting an error. Here's the exact message in case it helps: > Unable to parse Build/gj2.framework.js.br! This can happen if build compression was enabled but web server hosting the content was misconfigured to not serve the file with HTTP Response Header "Content-Encoding: br" present. Check browser Console and Devtools Network tab to debug. My console is showing that there is an illegal character at the start of `gj2.framework.js.br`. |
| Apr 27 15:36:26 | 8h 52m | Deep Abyss | ♥ 2 | I like the atmosphere that you create with the graphics. My one criticism is that the turtles move in sort of a strange way that breaks the immersion a bit. |
| Apr 27 15:55:36 | 19m 10s | Space Breaker | ♥ 0 | The plasma ball is a super neat concept, but the hit detection and bouncing is a little inconsistent, and sometimes when the ball hits you it immediately kills you no matter how much health you have. |
| Apr 27 16:22:32 | 26m 56s | Decisive Maneuver | ♥ 1 | Overall very nice! The momentum, the oblong shape, and the fact that the mines are only temporarily visible make for a fun combo. I am pretty sure I once encountered a mine that was invisible (or rather became invisible, since I spotted it once then when it didn't show up again in my spotlight I sailed toward it and then died). |
| Apr 29 21:49:47 | 53h 27m | Katakombs | ♥ 1 | I wasn't able to make out one of the words in the (first?) audio clip part (I could hear "profundum" pretty easily, but not the other word). Up to that point though I enjoyed it. The atmosphere was very nice. I had slight trouble with size of the game being bigger than my screen, but that wasn't too hard to work around. |
| Apr 30 13:37:13 | 15h 47m | You Are The Helmet! | ♥ 1 | This is such a hilarious concept, nicely done! I was a little disappointed that the optimal strategy I found seemed to be to wedge myself between the first spike and the wall next to it and then mash A and D. Maybe a limit to the number of orcs that can be alerted from any particular area could encourage more movement? (Also, I just had to post my high score 😄) 2021-04-30-093316_1275x713.png Oh one final thing, this is less about the game and more about the itch.io page, but it would be great if there were a button for full screening the game. It was a little tricky getting the whole thing to fit on my screen. |
| Apr 30 22:25:37 | 8h 48m | Flat Pack Piles | ♥ 0 | I loved how this puzzle with rather simple rules results in such complexity! I wasn't able to beat the challenge mode, but it's definitely something I'm going to be going over in my head for the next few days. One of the things I'd love to see in the game is an undo button, cause I found myself getting a certain distance realizing I made a mistake and then wishing I could simply undo to that point instead of restarting from scratch. |
| Apr 30 22:33:14 | 7m 37s | Dipper And Dipper | ♥ 2 | The puzzles were a lot of fun! Even for such a simple to grasp concept a lot of the solutions were not obvious. I did encounter a couple bugs in the game (this is all on the WebGL version using Firefox): * If you accessed the options or credits screen from the main menu pressing the escape key blanks the screen and requires you to reload the page to play the game (I'm guessing it is cause the game would quit in the desktop version) * In the final boss fight the spears would often travel through either the crate or one of the Dippers. I think it might have had to do with not alternating sides when attacking the boss? Finally I was suspicious that the black screen at the end might mean that you were put back at the start of the game but in total darkness, what with the deja vu comment, but it is just the end of the game, right? |
| Apr 30 23:02:15 | 29m 01s | The Life Aquatic | ♥ 1 | Beat it on my second try in 6:16. I love the calmness of the game with the funny looking fishes, the voice over commentary, the momentum on the movement, and the peaceful sound. I thought this all juxtaposed nicely with the oxygen constraint which would mean that sometimes you'd be rushing to the surface to refill your tanks. If you decide to keep working on the game, I think it would very cool if the fish would react a little more to the submarine's presence. |
| May 1 05:38:47 | 6h 36m | 20,000 Leagues | ♥ 3 | It was a bit of a struggle to play this, since my friends do not live near me, and not all of us can run Tabletop Simulator, but we managed to get a Minecraft server set up to play the game. The resulting game was a little awkward, but definitely still playable. The other thing we struggled with was understanding the rules; by the end of the second game we played we had resolved confusions over the handling of **Dive! Dive! Dive!** and the scoring of **Dive! Dive! Dive!**, **Clear Waters**, **Sea Turtle**, **Coral**/**Butterflyfish**/**Fusilier**, and **Eel**. Generally the points of confusion were over the meaning round, and mixing up total score for a set of cards with its per card score. In terms of the gameplay itself, there were two areas where I feel there can be improvement: * **SCUBA Diver** seems maybe too strong. In both our games the person who collected two of them used them to win without too much effort. Though that being said, the chances of drawing at least two opening hands with **SCUBA Diver**s doesn't seem like it would be super likely so perhaps we were just unlucky that we had it happen in 2/2 of our games. * In both games we played, it was clear by the start of the third round that my tableau was not of sufficient quality to give me a shot at winning the game. As such I felt a bit at a loss of what I should be focusing on. Should I be trying to get as high a score as possible? Should I doing my best to pass the person closest ahead of me to I can place higher in the final score ranking? Something else? Bargaining my aid to the player in second does not seem like it would be useful since it doesn't seem like ganging up on the person in the lead has much potential to affect their ability to hold onto the first spot. I guess this all sounds very critical, but all in all, even if we were a bit shaky on the rules, I enjoyed both games I played and I'm hoping I'll get to play a few more games of this at least so that I can further explore the strategy. |
| May 12 14:48:26 | 273h 09m | Wormholes | ♥ 1 | I'm still not sure I fully understand the portal mechanic. I get that there is a limited set of velocities at which you can pass through a portal, but the progress meter at the bottom confuses me, since I wasn't quite able to figure out how it worked, but it seems like whether you progress forwards or backwards depends the direction you are going when you enter the portal maybe? Anyway, I enjoyed the puzzle of getting the spaceship to the right velocity and having it intersect the portal, though it did get repetitive, and my confusion with the progression further exacerbated that issue since I couldn't tell how close I was to the end. |
