Oct 5 23:47:58 Anomaly 47 ♥ 1 Absolutely loved it, your best one yet in my opinion. Mood/music was great, I even had a 'jump scare' when Hedgy was revealed.. great title/end screens, and sweet art style. I only had a few times I had some squirrely controls, which could have been collider based, but no biggy; just a tiny, non-game breaking bug, that didn't take away from the overall experience and totally understandable for a game in 48 hours!
Oct 6 00:03:56 15m 58s Gorilla Power ♥ 1 Great work! Excellent creation in 48 hours, a full fledged fun experience! I appreciate that you included a check point as well! As @blobo shared in his screenshot, that's the only issue I ran into.. trying to kill guards when above them, and ending up getting shot when the attack event wouldn't execute after coming off their heads.. no biggy though, just added a tiny challenging mechanic towards the end of the level. Great job overall!
Oct 6 00:21:53 17m 57s Loop Land ♥ 0 Whoah, just whoah! What a world.. so many loops everywhere! Love the details.. like the enemy hand getting bigger when punching.. and things flying towards the camera.. art style is great, and you have a main boss! Fantastic! Love that you journey to the center of the loop as the progression as well.. and that some puzzles and challenges were incorporated! Only constructive critisism I have is that when playing full screen (32 in monitor.. so wide FOV), some of the camera movement and world rotation almost led to some 'motion sickness' feelings.. nothing serious, and I game a lot - so I was able to fight against it, but for a more inexperienced gamer that could be an issue, so further playtesting and camera tweaks may be needed to prevent that.. I know with VR game dev work, using a vignette during the faster camera/world movement helps, but I don't know if that would apply to a sidescroller.. Anyways, overall, great entry - very fun and colorful, cheerful music and sounds, and an enjoyable playthrough!
Oct 9 04:41:43 76h 19m Energy Loop ♥ 1 Great work! Perfect progression in difficulty, and A+ on educating the player on mechanics as you move through levels. The take on the theme worked really well, and executing on this in just 8 hours is fantastic! I look forward to your future puzzlescript and other creations!
Oct 9 04:48:28 6m 45s This Party Sucks ♥ 2 Great job! Lots of fun to play and keep trying to get a better score. Take on the theme is great, and it's a fun idea. I liked the controls for movement, not just holding a direction.. it added some nice challenge/balance to it. Did you add that later from standard movement controls feeling too easy, or was it planned from the start? Either way, it worked out great. The death animation of your player character is so adorable.. I died on purpose a few times just to watch him fall with the slight roll.. loved it!
Oct 9 05:01:39 13m 11s Eleven ♥ 2 As you've said, and other feedback.. yeah, it's challenging.. the only "unfair" challenging bit I encountered in the various areas was entering the room only to immediately get hit by an arrow or something else in the near path.. on numerous occasions.. and yes, I should learn my lesson, but I would have appreciated getting a better lay of the land on entering new rooms.. a sort of 'safe' area, and not having to make sure I slowly creep into a room so I don't go beyond the doorway, which is quite the juxtaposition to the mad rush against the clock. That said, you guys made a great game.. yes it's challenging, which isn't for everyone - sound effects, theme, mechanics, etc. were all well executed, with many great puzzles to figure out!
Oct 9 05:18:48 17m 09s Giraffe Roller ♥ 1 Very fun time! Great amount of chaos, but not overly chaotic like some of your past creations ;) - fun mechanic, challenges, sound, etc. Only two 'issues' I encountered: 1. It took a bit to learn to roll.. I read 'hold the mouse button' but after that not working a bit, I went to your menu for the controls (thanks for including that option to change controls!) and found it had mapped to Z for the attack.. once that was learned though, I was able to roll attack just fine and progress! 2. Not sure if it was intentional, but when the boss spawns each time for me, a massive amount of missiles are present.. like a giant snake of 100+ missiles, which obliterate me very quick if I don't do some crafty dodging and running.. Other than those two oddities, no problems, game ran great and I had a lot of fun playing it!
Oct 9 05:24:59 6m 11s Arcane Forest ♥ 1 I made my way through to the end. I appreciated the last direction required. Fitting music, cute animation and art, nicely done, it was a fun memory game :)
Oct 9 05:34:06 9m 07s The Watchmaker ♥ 1 Very cool story and take on the theme! I enjoyed playing through and exploring.. a few times now, and I learned a lot about watches! I still haven't solved it and made it to the 'good ending'.. but I've read many good things along the way with each attempt.
Oct 12 00:49:21 67h 15m Last Trip of the Monorail! ♥ 1 Great work! Lots of good humor in the game, and having come from just playing your LD46 game 10min ago (I missed it in April, sorry!) I see a lot of great enhancements! You had time to animate your adorable pixel character this round, and the voice overs sound higher quality (they're great in both games, don't get me wrong ;) ), and coding an inventory and item interactions is impressive! A+ stuff!
Oct 16 01:27:15 96h 37m HamsterLoop ♥ 1 Great work! I too went with a hamster in the wheel, however you made a fun game, and mine is more of an experience.. I forgot to include the fun :p - Loved the ramp up in difficulty, and introduction to the mechanics. Controls were fun, felt like the proper movement for a rolling wheel. Great work with menus, checkpoints, etc! Only thing missing that I would have loved to see is a slight invulnerability after death, so you have a second or two to 'regain your footing' when spawning into a spot, preventing an immediate death again by a trap.
Oct 16 01:38:55 11m 40s Hamster Survival Racing ♥ 0 Love the take on the theme. I too went with the hamster wheel.. but it's an experience, and not a challenge with skill building as you try again like yours. Great job on completing your 2nd Jam! Great models, fun challenge, fitting and cute music!
Oct 16 01:44:31 5m 36s Sleepy Hamster ♥ 1 Great work! I too went the hamster in a wheel route, I like your take on it- incorporating the rhythm control aspect, and that the wheel is the track. Art and music were fantastic, and only constructive feedback I have mirrors some of the others above already, primarily the controls feeling a bit sluggish or unresponsive. Overall though, great job!
Oct 16 01:50:47 6m 16s Hamster Tank ♥ 1 Yes, hamster gamedev ftw! I too went the hamster route, yet yours is insanely unique! Love the graphics you did for the hamster.. that face and the look of a perpetual scream of awesome rage coming from it is fantastic. Soundtrack was cool too, and amazing you managed to get multiplayer working so well with a compo entry! I could give constructive feedback.. but it would just mirror some of the above already.. just UI stuff.. but totally understandable for getting this done in 48 hours, great job!
Oct 16 01:56:26 5m 39s Hammy the Hamster ♥ 2 Very cute and fun gameplay. Would love if Hammy the Hamster could come over for a playdate sometime with Phil the Hamster in the game I did ;)
Oct 16 02:06:39 10m 13s Fish the Video Game ♥ 1 With this music and ambient sound I really could just stay here.. as a fish forever.. the game is still running actually, as I listen to this fantastic soundtrack. Excellent graphics, and overall just a fun little experience. - oh, and a day/night cycle! Realism off the charts! Thank you!
Oct 16 02:17:14 10m 35s The Daily Life of a Hamster ♥ 0 Squeaky sounds are fantastic! Model is pretty cute too, and the music fits quite well! I too made a hamster adventure, however it's far less intense and fun, nice job on your creation!
Oct 16 02:46:17 29m 03s Hamster Crash ♥ 0 Yes, hamster wheels! I did the same, but in a very different fashion. Love your take on the theme and the wasteland scavenging aspect. Music fit quite well, and your hamster art is very cute.
Oct 16 02:49:48 3m 31s Mad Wheel : Furry Maxster ♥ 0 Great little challenge! Love the hamster wheel idea, I went the same route, but with a completely different experience. Had some great laughs playing too, nice work on your entry!
Oct 16 02:57:30 7m 42s A Ghost with Alzheimer's ♥ 2 The title caught my attention, great naming choice! I loved the pixel art.. mini pixel art.. very cute! The wizards especially were my favorite. Cool take on the theme, and the mechanic incorporated.. while I do agree it could get frustrating, with a feeling that you don't have proper control, I understand that's part of the challenge of playing. Perhaps you could have added a power up where there was a 'clear mind' for a bit to have solid control for a bit, before returning to your Alzheimer's state. Overall though, great job - music was fitting, and sound effects.. lol.. those sound effects, so good!
Oct 16 14:30:27 11h 32m Hamster Death Loop ♥ 1 Haha, I enjoyed everything.. from reading your LD page, and the video, to the headbanging adventure on the wheel. I too went the hamster wheel route on my theme, however it's a completely different experience, so I love seeing what you did with the idea. As for constructive criticism, I would agree with @tattomoosa that the ramp up in difficulty seems a bit slow. Great job with your entry!
Oct 16 14:38:18 7m 51s Phone Tree of Despair ♥ 2 Fantastic take, with a great medium for the game! I came for the great picture, and stayed for the cool idea of using an actual phone system menu tree for the gameplay. I used to do phone system work, and sometimes would hide funny little easter eggs in the menus, so this clicked immediately with me. Great job! Very humorous and insanely original!
