| Aug 9 05:40:44 | Behind Enemy Lines | ♥ 2 | I love the way you can push these little soldiers to help them move faster and see how they flip. Visual style is quite interesting too. I had some troubles with the controls since you can't do both W+D to make a forward+up movement, but it could be a feature. And I'd recommend to put another helipad (or fuel bonus) after the second turret to reward a player and create some sort of a checkpoint. Here is my playtest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7npMPyDgdw | |
| Aug 9 06:10:53 | 30m 09s | Power - a puzzle game | ♥ 1 | A Java game! Nice. I'm not a big fan of Sokobans but successfully completed this one. @hecticgrape, are you planning to make more games using libGDX? Try to implement something realtime (not a turn-based), this will be a good experience. Here is my playthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npQxGVbOElw |
| Aug 9 07:06:34 | 55m 41s | Icebroken | ♥ 2 | *Hugged a boiler and got burnt* Great ice/heat effects and art overall. Couple of questions: - Is there any dependency on the crew count and production speed? - Is there any purpose for the sleeping room? I did a playthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEKJsOCxGxk Just look at Paul and Erasmus at 1:22 😄 |
| Aug 9 08:09:16 | 1h 02m | Night Driver | ♥ 1 | 🎵 *Now playing: Kavinsky - Nightcall* 🎵 Awesome shaders work. So awesome -- even youtube video codec can't handle it. I'm really bad at racing games and walls with obstacles make it really hard to play. Small bugs I found: - sometimes tire tracks stuck in the air - there are a lot of gaps in walls so you can fall off - 1-2% of energy is consumed before you can actually drive - in some cases if you run out of power - arrows controls got blocked on a next try. Here is my playtest: https://youtu.be/zte0CTmkRzw [NeonRacing2.gif](https://youtu.be/zte0CTmkRzw) |
| Aug 9 09:09:12 | 59m 56s | AEOS | ♥ 1 | I had like 5 tries (~20 mins total) and still failed (night time, room with lights). I'd recommend to add some checkpoints, instead of tweaking the boat speed. There is no problem to move slowly, observe nice leveldesign, enjoy the atmosphere and solve puzzles, the problem is that in case of fail you have to perform all actions again from the very beginning (when player knows the solution) and the boat speed is a real obstacle in this case. Looking forward to see some updates. 😃 Here is my playtest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yx1-dbh-Q3A |
| Aug 9 20:53:21 | 11h 44m | Battery Battle | ♥ 1 | Oh, I see the "The Art of Screenshake" consequences. It's a good thing you were able to complete and polish this game, but I feel it lacks some content and gameplay progression. Here is my playtest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5g5rWKLrDlg Consistent art style and sounds are really good. |
| Aug 9 21:30:40 | 37m 19s | Patient Out Of Time | ♥ 0 | I have a couple of questions, if you don't mind: - Does this game have a win condition? Or any ideas for it. - Were you planning to add a long range weapon instead of a close combat one? - Have you tried any other engines? I see LÖVE but a bit curious about your choice. Thank you! Here is my playtest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4pQBSHIk-E *Minor complaint: itch.io links are truncated to something like "patient-out-of-time-1.6...." so it's not possible to see the actual platform and full version number.* |
| Aug 10 10:17:25 | 12h 46m | Energy Scraps | ♥ 2 | Spent ~30 mins to complete. This game triggers curiosity and exploration in a good way. Some issues I found: - Max HP value does not increase above 100 (so if you have maxhp upgrades it will be 160/100) - Grind part where you stare at a battery is not very fun. I think this could be solved by grabbing a battery into my backpack and then it will transmit energy slowly (so I can move and do pew pew). It should be not allowed to take another battery until the first one is fully depleted. - Enemies keep shooting while death animation. - Jumping on edges/cliffs is not very predictable. Here is my playthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1F9c2-mROdA |
| Aug 11 12:48:24 | 26h 30m | CHAINED | ♥ 0 | For some reason all I see is: 2017-08-11 15_45_58-CHAINED.png Any advice? |
| Aug 13 17:39:44 | 52h 51m | GREED | ♥ 1 | Screenshots look amazing, but game itself requires more polishing. Platformers are easy to make, but very hard to perfect. http://higherorderfun.com/blog/2012/05/20/the-guide-to-implementing-2d-platformers/ -- here is a good article on the topic. My playthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZwAYjNoFPc |
| Aug 13 18:05:58 | 26m 14s | Powering Down | ♥ 1 | Game is very short, but it plays really good. Another key binds idea - `Z, X, C, ...` - to select a sub-system, `1, 2, 3, ...` - to set a specific mode for this sub-system. Like pressing `Z` will open thrusters configuration, and `1, 2, 3` - high, low, off. You could keep `SPACE` dialog in this case too. Also I'd recommend to limit bullets range, so player won't be able to shoot targets out of the screen (unless this is a feature in some cases). Here is my playthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=penrR5z-_f4 |
| Aug 13 18:57:11 | 51m 13s | The Last Wisp | ♥ 2 | Got a good seed and was able to play without buildings. Sometimes building icons are green but pressing 1 or 2 results nothing. Couple of times I built Beacon and Barrier -- but they got destroyed very quickly. And beacon is way too large (but maybe it's on purpose). I think I need to play more to get the flow of a gameplay. Here is my playtest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKVaJYezGyg *1234 seed is the best!* |
| Aug 13 19:32:33 | 35m 22s | Soporific: A Bedtime Story | ♥ 1 | It's like a breath of a fresh air in the current LD (all these batteries, progress bars and electricity). Cute and amusing. Here is another video of a playthrough: https://youtu.be/6m-FaA6c3Pk |
| Aug 13 19:44:05 | 11m 32s | Baby Space Saucer | ♥ 0 | Huh, that was intense. And I love the stuffed animal replicator. |
| Aug 13 20:32:29 | 48m 24s | The Last Miner | ♥ 1 | I've got out of memory error when flew far away out of the maze. And itch.io win download contains no Data folder so it's unplayable. Please attach it as zip-archive both exe and Data. I love how main game mechanic works and feels. But I think it requires some progression and goals (e.g. reach poin X for N seconds, or find Z gems, or find exit, etc). Here is my playtest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yD4W11KDXzA |
| Aug 14 08:01:17 | 11h 28m | The Dying of the Light | ♥ 3 | Great storytelling and simple gameplay. Music and models are also great. I noticed that some records are less loud than the rest, but this is a minor thing. Here is my playthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W37CbVgPvhA |
| Aug 14 08:45:53 | 44m 36s | The Color of Days To Come. | ♥ 0 | Completed in ~10 mins. I did a video record of a gameplay, but decided not to publish it (or should I?). I think I got all the aspects of the story and it's sad. The only technical problem I noticed -- vsync is disabled, so side scrolling causes some visual artifacts with vertical lines. Thank you for the game. 🌼 |
| Aug 14 19:39:09 | 10h 53m | Battery Booster | ♥ 0 | I think you can add some optional shortcuts (wall is broken and possible to move around trees). It's also hard to start when you got stuck in wall with 0 speed (even if your power is max). Here is my play: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhMzJyWEvKM |
| Aug 14 20:23:29 | 44m 20s | Woundlings | ♥ 0 | Fresh and adorable. I like these turn-based battles (like Worms 3D, but more dynamic) and this toy style (do you remember Army Men game?) Please add a hotseat option. Here is my playtest (yes, I tried to exploit AI a bit): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbkYXpYXsGo Will play more. |
| Aug 15 08:02:28 | 11h 38m | Power Necromancell | ♥ 1 | A Godot game? Impressive. Some jumps are tricky, but overall gameplay feels good. Here is my first playthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3e_GqCrZB0 *Cake is a like* |
| Aug 21 21:29:25 | 157h 26m | rhythmic battle | ♥ 0 | Hah, nice robots! "Rhythmic" game definitely should play better with some synthetic sounds/music. I think combos also would be nice to have just to reward a player to pressing buttons on time with no mistakes (do you remember all these dance simulators? they all have this kind of feature). Minor thing: add an option for qwerty keyboards, since 'q' and 'e' are not close as 'u' and 'i'. |
| Aug 21 21:42:06 | 12m 41s | Shootergame | ♥ 0 | Also it requires numpy for some reason. Was able to start it. Art and animations are good. shootergame.png Couple of recommendations for the next LDs: - Make a screenshot, attach it to the game description (people love screenshots). Even better - add it as a cover image (in a game page settings) - If game is not finished -- describe your original idea, gameplay, mechanics, just add some words 😃 - Make an executable of your game (the first link I found: http://pygame.org/project-pyg.exe-2830-.html), since the python installation -- is an additional step to play your game. - Play, rate and comment other games, if you have some time -- this will rank your game higher in LD search and recommendations. Also, some games are really fun. Hope this helps. See you next LD ;) |
| Aug 22 20:13:50 | 22h 31m | Armless Kairo | ♥ 0 | Love this game in so many aspects! Congrats on #2 COMPO, these are great results. 😃 Here is my playthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8TVOkH_Lzw (sorry I exploited the boss fight a bit) |
| Aug 22 20:59:06 | 45m 16s | VUEL | ♥ 0 | Congratulationson on COMPO #1! 🏆 It is very fun to make clicks in accordance with the music. My playtest as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nc-mM1Wiyf0 |
| Aug 22 22:23:36 | 1h 24m | Abandon Ship | ♥ 2 | Congratulations on JAM #2! This game is very atmospheric and I really love the animations (how did you create them?) Here is my playthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kEOdTjgHzA I did about 15 tries to complete it, couple of times I succeeded to kill all enemies, but didn't get the battery part. Also, control hints are not very helpfull since some of them have a different key bindings. |
