| Aug 25 02:01:00 | Click Here to Become the Monster | Low-effort and uninspired. We don't need any more "games" like this. | |
| Sep 4 16:09:00 | 254h 08m | Shadow Fright | Nice atmosphere created by the graphics and music. Very short game, little in the way of mechanics or anything to make you play more than once. Not sure how relevant to the "you are the monster" theme? Liked the way it references stuff outside of the game like the dev's name and recommending you Google - nice touches. |
| Sep 4 16:12:00 | 3m 00s | Tabuz. Aliens are coming. | Simple fun game - nothing groundbreaking, but a nice distraction! Didn't hear any sound or music in the web player version. |
| Sep 4 16:18:00 | 6m 00s | The Boulder Monster | Killing robots as a boulder throwing monster is pretty spot-on theme wise :) Music loop is a bit short, and that more contrast between monster and background colour would have been good graphically. |
| Sep 4 16:19:00 | 1m 00s | Hydra | Very, very fun! Polished look and audio, and the gameplay had me smiling away as I munched up little knights! I did quit because repeatedly hitting space was getting tiring before I died tho, so maybe better if a touch harder to encourage repeat plays and going for better scores? |
| Sep 12 07:20:00 | 183h 01m | DIAL-NPC (Day in a life of a NPC) | I really like the idea of this game, it’s cool to play as the enemy of a part of a Mario level. The game’s visuals and audio were cohesive to the theme and well done in general, I thought. I didn’t notice that any of the hero players had any different behaviours, that’s something that I think would’ve added a lot to the game both in terms of difficulty and variety. It was nice to be able to pick different enemies to play as, with different powerups, but ultimately I wasn’t sure what the ‘goal’ was. Is there a win condition that I just didn’t see? A couple of other things I should mention - I tried pressing the help button and nothing happened, and when I died, the ‘press ….’ text was obscured by the cloud behind it. Played & reviewed on OSX (10.10.5) |
| Sep 12 07:25:00 | 5m 00s | Thinning the Herd: A game of management | This is a fun idea, and I enjoyed it (worryingly!). I did have a few problems though. The hint text didn’t appear for very long and reading them all was impossible, especially at the start. Also, the hint text for character at the extreme edges went off-screen for me. I was playing windowed on OS X. A lot of my herd (employees) seemed to leave or blow up(?!) almost immediately, whereas I had to move people around a lot as the game went on to try to make them leave - mostly by trial-and-error due to my hint text woes! Overall though, this is a great concept and very enjoyable - well done! |
| Sep 12 07:27:00 | 2m 00s | People Can Be Monsters | I really like the concept, but the game itself confused me somewhat. For me, it wasn’t clear how the wire-tapping mini game worked at all, though I did work out that I only wanted to execute red civilians(?). The audio and graphics were consistent and worked well together, and the humour was spot-on. The ability to switch the cameras around is cool, but I didn’t understand what purpose it served - then again, there was a fair bit I didn’t understand! Overall, fun, different, and very amusing, but I would’ve scored it higher if there was a bit more explanation of what was going on! |
| Sep 12 07:28:00 | 1m 00s | Revenge | This is a really cool game, classic schmup is one of my favourite genres, and being able to play the boss is a lot of fun.The graphics and audio were spot on, in my opinion. Having the two additional boss moves unlock as you take more damage is cool, though imo a defensive ability (like closing the eyelids or something for a short period) would have added a lot in terms of gameplay. I really enjoyed the 22 stages I lasted for, though I’m fairly sure I have developed RSI from spamming the E key! |
| Sep 14 20:38:00 | 61h 10m | Fired | You've captured the mood really well, with the ominous music and the slow-motion. I decided to shoot the man at the end :)
Incidentally, the Unity graphics were set by default to "Fastest", which made your sprites all blurry. When I set them to "Beautiful", the graphics looked a lot better! |
| Sep 14 20:48:00 | 10m 00s | Aglæca | An interesting idea, but I wasn't entirely sure what the goal of the game was. Points for procedural generation though! Even if all the towns are called Camp TestName :P |
| Sep 14 21:03:00 | 15m 00s | Slime Saga | It is a little tricky to figure out what's going on at the start of the game, but that's part of the fun ;) You're the master of minimalist block puzzle games! |
| Sep 14 21:14:00 | 11m 00s | Monster Truck Logistics | I like the minimialist graphics, and the idea seemed fun, but I didn't enjoy the physics much. The truck seems to turn the wrong way when reversing. There seems to be a bit of lag on the steering anyway. The trailers are very back-heavy, so if you hit them in the middle they pivot around the wheels. The monster truck would continue sliding when the controls were released, although trailers would come to a standstill. That is, when they aren't rolling away of their own accord. On level 2 one of the trailers exploded in a shower of physics when I pushed it into a building, then I noticed that the other trailer had rolled offscreen, never to be seen again. Oh well :) |
| Sep 14 21:20:00 | 6m 00s | The Weird Monster Thing's Adventure! | It took me a while to figure out what the WASD keys were doing; I'd not thought of rotating the character in 90 degree steps!
You can do a lot in Unity in 8 hours! |
| Sep 14 21:28:00 | 8m 00s | Dude, Stop | Observational humour :) |
| Sep 14 21:39:00 | 11m 00s | Dragon Saint | This looks really nice, and is fun for a while :) I didn't seem to be able to swipe very often, but the fire breath did well enough until the knights started attacking me. They do seem a lot more interested in the eggs than in the woman :P |
| Sep 14 21:48:00 | 9m 00s | Death Maze | This is a good first game :) I like the way the cops move - they don't move predictably straight towards you, and they give you some space, but if you run away they charge after you!
The updated version is much better, I'm glad you're motivated to keep working on it after the competition! |
| Sep 14 21:52:00 | 4m 00s | YOU ARE THE TRUCK | Like others say, if only it had some win/lose gameplay! |
| Sep 14 22:02:00 | 10m 00s | Found Bigfootage | A good game! I also like the blurry player character, and how the music changes dynamically. It is fun to play too! |
| Sep 14 22:10:00 | 8m 00s | The Omnipotent Program | It looks good, but it's hard to figure out what's going on! The disc flies everywhere, and it's difficult to tell what's damaging what, and which health bar is which? |
| Sep 14 22:22:00 | 12m 00s | Patient 36 | Very good! I like the sense of mystery, and the revelation of the story through the narration of the announcer. It looks nice too! |
| Sep 14 22:30:00 | 8m 00s | You are them, on s.t.e.r. | This is a great game, it plays well and has an interesting (if contrived) story. I like the posters around which set the mood. |
| Sep 14 22:39:00 | 9m 00s | Famous Nessie | This is a very cute looking game! It does seem quite easy, but the graphics and animations are nice :) |
| Sep 14 22:46:00 | 7m 00s | Mike The Mediocre Meteor | I got a score of 82 :) but it was running very slowly. For particles, it can be a good idea to create a certain number up-front, (say 1,000) then reuse the objects when they disappear and when new ones appear. An advantage of this is that you can stop them spawning if there are already too many on the screen. |
| Sep 14 22:51:00 | 5m 00s | Tales of the Memory Dragon | This looks good, and is a nice challenging game :) The colours changing position certainly makes it more difficult, but it's hard to tell at what point the keys actually swap colours; sometimes it seems I can still press the old keys to match the colours. |
