Apr 20 01:32:00 Bad and Breakfast Really creative, but the explosion and screen shake was giving me a headache by the end. I liked the toaster theme, and the art looks amazing. I'm not going to even ask what the enemies are.
Apr 20 19:42:00 18h 10m Time Space Gun It seems like you had a good idea going, but the controls and overall level design made the gun really clunky to use. I didn't figure out until halfway through what the weapon was supposed to do. The water effects are nice, and the graphics are mostly okay, but the gameplay suffers because I don't feel like I'm in control of anything. I just dashed madly through the first few levels, and it worked.
Apr 20 19:49:00 7m 00s Ghetto Engineer It's a good attempt, and the idea is pretty cool, but the execution is bare bones. I suppose you had to spend a lot of time making the code do simple tasks, and it shows. The graphics are, for ludum dare, just fine, but the gameplay is awkward and not really developed. It's a good idea and you have the right start to execute this well, but the game is just not done. I'd say : port this to a better language, and develop it. You've got a good idea here.
Apr 20 19:54:00 5m 00s Mortal bard It's an interesting idea, and I like the art and music, but the controls are simply too awkward. I really like the idea of limiting the ability to jump. I thought that, with 100 health points, I would be able to escape death if cornered but it seems like it's just an insta death if you get caught on a block or something.
Apr 20 20:00:00 6m 00s Downbeat I suck at rhythm games so I didn't get to see very much. I like the art, but simply put having good music in your game wins me over pretty much instantly. That's amazing. Music notes as a weapon? Pretty cool! Although it was pretty hard to get the rhythm down as sometimes my piano started going off immediately, making me miss the first note.
Apr 20 20:06:00 6m 00s Beta Bot I like the idea, and the art and sound is really nice, but I don't really see the theme coming through. It's a fun puzzle - like game, but there really isn't any "unconventional" weapons.
Apr 20 20:10:00 4m 00s Cluedont Really cool idea, it's just... How does this relate to the theme? I suppose your notepad is a "weapon" of sorts, but not really. Great game, otherwise. Also, why don't you want to be judged in audio? I love the music.
Apr 20 20:18:00 8m 00s Light'em Up I'm not quite sure I see how lasers are an unconventional weapon. Also, while music is always awesome and will score you good points in my book, the music sounded like some sort of carnival and was giving off the wrong vibe for a dark game like this. By the way, my weapons mysteriously stopped working half way through the game. Not at all sure why.
Apr 20 20:22:00 4m 00s Infectious Nice idea, but I can't get past the first stage. It seems that the zombies randomly decide that humans aren't their target, and walk in circles until they die. Gets very frustrating. Music is always a plus in my book. Art is nice, however animations would have been better.
Apr 20 20:24:00 2m 00s War Game? I can't seem to run the game. It seems I'm missing the C++ redist files. Sorry, but I can't really play it.
Apr 20 20:34:00 10m 00s Toasted Interesting idea, and while I was initially thrown off by the below average art, and lack of sound entirely, I was somewhat surprised that I continued to play for longer than I intended. Surprisingly fun, but the UI felt very clunky and unresponsive. The towers had a tendency to miss, which was frustrating but I got used to it eventually.
Apr 20 20:48:00 14m 00s 5 inches true damage This was... Interesting. It does have gameplay, but it's barebones and aside from the... ahem... weapon... the art isn't very good. A help screen or even just splash text with the controls would have been nice. Also, 1500 fps?! There goes my computer's CPU...
Apr 21 19:31:00 22h 43m Asteroid Escape Interesting. The controls on the spaceship are realistic, which is actually in this case not a good thing. It feels very hard to control, and I ended up fighting more against the ship than against the asteroids. The actual action of trying to work through the asteroids worked very well, and was a lot of fun. The only petty annoyance I have is that the UI is not very descriptive. Other than that, good game. Also, just being real here, those asteroids are butt ugly. But hey, ludum dare art, what can ya do?
Apr 21 19:39:00 8m 00s Zombie Apocalypse Not entirely sure about this, but I'll rate the game anyway. It seems you are using an art asset for the main character that I'm almost certain I saw on a pixel art tutorial, which I'm pretty sure is against ludum dare rules. Other than that, the physics were very iffy, and the game seemed to not want to cooperate. The mechanics just didn't work from the level design, and it feels like you didn't test it given that you can't play any of the levels because the throwing mechanics simply don't work in tight corridors, which the levels are entirely made up of. Other than that, the noises were nice (got a good chuckle out of the falling sound), and the zombies looked good and were satisfying to kill.
Apr 21 19:43:00 4m 00s Wisp I didn't know that salvador dali was a game dev! All jokes aside, I feel like you were too focused on making an interesting environment. Like in all seriousness, the landscape was cool to look at and I almost want to explore a world like that (consider making an fps with that sort of environment), exploring is not what I did. What I did was look at an unclear instruction and follow strange orders which seemed to have no bearing, as "game over" is all I got. It felt weird, and it felt clunky, as all my keypresses felt like they weren't being responded to. it felt like I would have to hammer a key to get it to work, even though it was just the game delaying things. Good music is always a good thing in my book.
Apr 21 19:51:00 8m 00s Get Toasted I really wanted to see more gameplay, but the controls are really hard to work with. The toaster was a chore to use. The game also seemed to flip out every now and then, mostly when I jumped while the toaster was on the ground. But I liked the sounds, and the graphics do have a good charm to them. Still have no idea what those ground monsters were. The animations were nice, but got in the way of gameplay. For future reference, animations that effect the rate of gameplay should be limited in length, and preferably only be visual while the actual action is performed instantly.
Apr 21 20:24:00 33m 00s Choose your own title! It was interesting, but it felt like there were some continuity issues. "you wake up still strapped to the table" when I was never strapped to the table in the first place, stuff like that. While I'm not a grammar nazi, I feel my english teacher wouldn't like this very much. But the story feels nice, and while disjointed it feels not too jumpy. I didn't like how limited my choices were, as they felt polarizing, but I suppose not much could be done about that, given it's a text adventure.
Apr 22 18:43:00 22h 19m Ghost in the Machine Great game, but not really sure how it relates to the theme. Awesome writing, but the parts about the castle feeling familiar are a little bit cheesy, and could have been left out (unless I'm missing some sort of underlying story).
Apr 22 18:49:00 6m 00s Garbarrage Interesting, but somewhat barebones. The graphics were appealing for the most part, and the gameplay worked. The music felt corny and somewhat annoying, but really any music at all is a huge plus in my book. The sounds for the cannon rarely worked, so I would have opted for no sound instead of just a strange random sound every now and again.
