Apr 29 15:58:00 The Valley Rule There's a lot of polish in the game, but in the end, the controls are what kill it for me. S is such a weird key to use for jumping; it's unnatural. Also, far FAR too often does a key missfire, such as missing a double-jump. I hate it when I have to actually fight the controls. The paths weren't the most intuitive; I thought I was taking the wrong route sometimes only to find out it was correct. Also, while it definitely fits the theme, it doesn't do anything innovative with it from what I could tell (got almost to the end; the jumping up the ceiling part is too buggy to finish).

The best part is the graphics/audio. The audio is non-obtrusive but fits the game decently. The graphics are definitely good for 72 hours.

It's definitely not bad for 72 hours, but those controls should have been the very first thing to solidify. And, if the controls have to be the way they are, don't make the death sequence so long.
Apr 29 16:23:00 25m 00s Kitsuni It did a good job of setting the mood, but the controls were not intuitive at all. I spent most of my time just trying to figure out what to do. I ended up accidentally stumbling through a lot of it (and yes I did read the intro instructions). Only being able to hold one gem at a time was rather annoying. Perhaps it's just me, but this game was not fun at all, and I did not see how it fit the theme at all either. That being said, it was rather different, and the mood you were going for was mostly captured... definitely a mixed bag in the end for me.
Apr 29 16:28:00 5m 00s Wormonger Okay, well that fit the jam well. It was a different spin of a game than I was expecting, so decent innovation.

In the end though, for me it comes down to whether a game is fun or not... and yours was not. The audio was annoying as well.
Apr 29 16:37:00 9m 00s Wriggle Worm It's a simple game. I reached 815 first try. There isn't much to say here; overall, it was mostly average. The one major complaint I have is that it didn't use the theme that well.
Apr 29 16:42:00 5m 00s Shady has to eat Well, I can say it fit the theme at least. In the end, the game is very simple: exit through the left hole, follow a cloud, enter in a right hole, and repeat. The quicker clouds do increase the challenge, but the jumping issues are a bigger challenge (as in loose controls). Mostly an average entry in my opinion, below par in many areas, but does well for the theme.
Apr 29 18:24:00 1h 42m Kamikaze Dive Bomb I wish I could leave positive feedback for this one, but I can't really. The idea was a bit different, but I found that big bombs worked better anyways. Also, how is this "beneath the surface"? It doesn't seem to fit the theme at all. Perhaps if you had more time, something more could have come out of it.
Apr 29 18:32:00 8m 00s Winter Is Coming . . . The game desperately needs a x2, x4, or even a x10 button with how slow it is. Still, it was an interesting take on the theme, just not a fun one to just sit and wait around for 10 minutes.
Apr 29 18:39:00 7m 00s Evolve Okay, anyone who knows me knows that I am a harsh grader, so the fact that you got three five stars (and mostly 4's for the rest) is simply outstanding. It's definitely the best entry I've played yet. The opening cinematic was impressive, especially for being 72 hours, and all of the parts work together very well. My one complaint is that I wish the player could swim just a bit faster (or enemies a bit slower) so that I could actually outrun one.
Apr 30 02:02:00 7h 23m Living in a Kaboom submarine The issue here is that the game is multiplayer... on one keyboard. It'd be impossible to play with friends, especially 6 since you'd all be pressing on the same small area. Also, the controls need a better explanation (your little symbols made me think there would be buttons to press, but there aren't, just keys, so I had to restart to see what to press or just mash random buttons).
Apr 30 02:18:00 16m 00s Submersion Overall, the game was OK. It did suffer from some major issues though. First and foremost was lack of any tutorial. I had to experiment to see what each equipment did, which sometimes had catastrophic results (such as flipping the submarine upside-down). Second, when I died, there was no "game over" screen, no way I could see to restart, so I had to refresh the page instead. If those issues (and better control for the torpedoes) could be solved, it'd be a decent game.
Apr 30 02:23:00 5m 00s Kraken Unchained This was a decent entry. I wish that the score breakdown in the end was better. I'd like to know how the points/grade are calculated (i.e. is getting through with 1 health while attacking everything better than speedrunning through without attacking?). It was very playable though, which is a nice change of pace from some of the others I've been playing which were almost counter-intuitive.
Apr 30 02:26:00 3m 00s Submarines! It's a decent little game. As others have mentioned, the lack of 1-player and the after-hit issue really detract from the game. Also, I'd have really preferred to see the level randomized so that not every battle was the same. In the end, it's an okay entry.
Apr 30 02:37:00 11m 00s Declivity Definitely one of the better entries I've seen. It was definitely a harder option. I would have preferred different controls for moving vs. attacking... so often I either killed cats myself or stepped on a monster instead of shooting it. Still, it's very well done, especially for 72 hours.
Apr 30 02:45:00 8m 00s Atlantis Explorer I like the idea of using Atlantis as the basis; however, the game wasn't the most playable I've seen; some of the villagers don't seem to talk when clicked on (which made me think they were just decoration until I learned otherwise). There isn't a need for the money/food as the time it would take to get the extra 9 coins from the underneath area would cost more than the 30 in food you'd get (and it's not needed for finishing the game). I also wish the edges were better defined. I kept trying to go further to see where the new areas were (the ladder was a nice hint for the underneath area though). All in all, an average entry.
Apr 30 02:52:00 7m 00s Crystal Advance Overall, I thought it was a decent entry. When the mortars and ghosts are together, it gets really tough. I liked how it used the theme though, both of the digging down and how the next area was covered until the crystals were shot. One of the better games overall.
Apr 30 02:57:00 5m 00s Beneath the Core FYI, it seems like Chrome can only play the game once. I used P to fast-forward to the end and couldn't try again. From what I did play, it was an alright game. My biggest compliment is I did find the ending rather funny, so I can actually give humor a rating for once.
Apr 30 03:06:00 9m 00s Atomicle - LostAutumn.net Besides being an atom, I'm confused as to how this fits "beneath the surface". If the theme had been different, I'd have rated it higher, since this is overall a very good example of what can be done in 48 hours. I'd actually suggest seeing if Apple is interested in it as it's the type of game that could really take off there.
Apr 30 03:20:00 14m 00s Space Driller Overall, it's one of the better games. I liked the leveling up system, but the jumping did get tedious. There wasn't much that really amazed me, but there also wasn't much I can complain about, which is better than a lot of entries.
Apr 30 03:26:00 6m 00s Bitmite Blitz This is definitely one of the most polished games I've seen in the LD. Having an achievement system is an impressive addition, given the time constraint. Also, the mechanics work rather well (got 8th first try (TUO)). For the most part, this is a game that played it safe with the basic game and then went beyond it later on, making it definitely one of the better entries.
Apr 30 03:34:00 8m 00s From the Under This one is a mixed bag. I really wanted to like it; it had a nice setup to it, and I liked how it used the theme. I also liked how the crystals found could be used to upgrade the hero for future attempts. However, the collision is so wonky in the game that I can't rate it too highly. My attacks seem to only go a short distance to the side whereas enemies seem to hit from above and below, as well as a longer range than me... makes the game frustrating and not a lot of fun to play. If that was improved, it would've had a a shot at the top... as it is, not so much.
Apr 30 03:42:00 8m 00s The Show Must Go On Okay, 5 stars for innovation (any 5 is nearly impossible to get from me). I liked the idea a lot. It's pretty crazy trying to control everything at once. One major gripe I have is the sounds are pretty awful (I'm horrible with sounds myself too), which is a shame since they are a key part of your game. Also, I couldn't find a way to get out of the tutorial, which was annoying. Basically, great idea and decent execution.
Apr 30 03:59:00 17m 00s Max Manus To anyone having troubles, just hold down the bayonet the entire time. That kills enemies all around you, not just to the side, making things much easier...

As for the game, it was an interesting concept, but the flow was rather off. The snow was so slow to move in, and shooting paper-thin targets is very difficult (especially those bookcases :P). However, it was overall halfway decent.
