Aug 27 06:49:00 Radiation Man The game works well (Firefox here), pretty smooth and comfortable to play. Nice work :) Too bad you couldn't have hacked in some levels or powerups to extend the game duration!
Aug 27 07:00:00 11m 00s eukaryotic. It's weird how the game page presents a tower defense while the real game deals with planets? Anyway the one I got to play seems a quite original take on the dodge-the-bullet genre, except sooo hard! x)
Aug 27 07:14:00 14m 00s EvolutionWar Additional explanations for other players: If I get it well, you just have to click on parts of the "genome" on the "Pool" column, and wait until your modifications apply (happens once the pool fully appeared). Then build some workers/attackers to strengthen your forces :)

While the game feels a bit confusing at first indeed, the idea of setting genome parts to tweak the units strength is very cool. The only downside is the balance of the game: usually the first player to send some attackers will win the round, so it doesn't leave much time to strategy.
Aug 27 07:24:00 10m 00s Cosmogonie Wow the graphics are quite impressive and original! I'm not always 100% sure what the impact of my mouse is on the game, be it's surprisingly fun to replay the game a few times to try to understand it more. Congrats!
Aug 27 08:16:00 52m 00s Cytosine This is a clever & nerdy take on "Evolution", I like this. Not only that, but the game is actually good looking and very pleasant to play, maybe the best entry I've played so far!
Aug 27 08:58:00 42m 00s cosmic evolution It's more a musical toy than a game indeed, but it's kinda fun. I'm sure a pretty cool game could have been made out of this thing, like "reproduce this music pattern" or something.
Aug 27 09:16:00 18m 00s Sporee Indeed there seems to be some game balance issues since the best way to earn points seems not to move at all :P As Asot said the particles behavior is quite interesting so it makes up for the lack of gameplay!
Aug 27 10:06:00 50m 00s Vesuvius Pretty good one. I had some troubles too getting how the "suffer to evolve" actually worked, but I managed to do some progress by falling into each pit I met, etc.

I gave good scores to this one. But one question remains: how can the game be so nice but the player remain a simple square?! :P
Aug 27 11:53:00 1h 47m Nom's Evolvathlon Brilliant! While the controls are at bit annoying at times (but I get that you has to adapt them to make the game work on mobiles), the game ideas and overall gameplay are very interesting.

There's some kind of strategy when choosing which power-up to choose, so it's not just a basic platformer. I'm pretty sure that with some effort (refined controls, bigger and nicer sprites, more precise indications on what powerups can actually combine - since some seem to replace others), this could really make a sellable product.
Aug 27 12:14:00 21m 00s DNA Wars I found it quite hard, otherwise it's a very original strategy game, well polished and pleasant to play. Gave plenty of stars to this one :)
Aug 27 12:20:00 6m 00s Physicalution Making a physics engine is hard, it's no secret! This probably won't get good rankings but you probably learned a lot about physics modeling and that's a good exercise. If you're interested you might want to Google some articles on the subject, there is plenty of interesting stuff you can read on the web.
Aug 27 12:27:00 7m 00s A Walk In The Park When I lost my dog, I asked people if they would become my new pet, without success.
Aug 27 13:52:00 1h 25m Evolution VS 1000 kittens Pretty amusing! It starts pretty slow, but the evolution trees are clever and the gameplay cool enough to keep the player entertained.
Aug 28 10:16:00 20h 24m Ideas A simple yet pleasing and well-polished platformer! Plus there's a fair amount of content, I enjoyed playing until the end without meeting any bug. 5/5.
Aug 28 14:05:00 3h 49m the Evolution from zx81 AAAAAAaaaaaaargh!!! I hate this game I hate it!!! But I finished it, yes sir! After not-sure-how-many attempts, I eventually won, all sweaty from frustration. 'Cause y'now, things got personal between me and these ****ing holes!

I'd say this annoying thing is somewhere between a platformer and... a gambling mashine. Frustrating, but hooking enough for you to want beat it.

(PS: Don't get me wrong, I gave good ratings to this game ;P)
Aug 28 15:35:00 1h 30m Rabbit Evolution This game smells like gifs from the 90s! The gameplay isn't fantastic (just hold to mouse down and move it around to hold forever!), but it works well.

I guess you're new to programming so I can only encourage you to continue, it's a good start :)
Aug 28 15:44:00 9m 00s Slime LifeTime The game is fairly fun, but I found weird how only the 30 bottom pixel lines of so are used for actual gameplay :P I played a few moments until I got the lasers (pew pew!), then it got repetitive so I stopped.

Now that you know Flashpunk a bit more you'll probably get to do even better next time!
Aug 28 15:52:00 8m 00s Eat, Spawn, and Die - Organism Generator Right now the game can't launch, it fails to find the "worldmap" module at l797!
Aug 28 16:11:00 19m 00s 8-Bit Big Bang (that was the origonal name, I never changed it, it was 8-bit) Some good news! The game works fine on Linux through Wine :P

Here is some actual feedback on the game: the gameplay is quite original, full of good ideas, despite the fact that the game lacks explanations on how you're supposed to play (how am I supposed to get the 10 points I need to evolve?!).

I finally got things figured, and one these first issues passed, I managed to enjoy the game, and evolve a bit before getting too close of what actually was a black hole in formation :P

So... Pretty good entry to me! Plus since it seems touch-friendly, the concept could make a nice mobile game in the mood of Osmos.
Aug 28 23:27:00 7h 16m Evolver Worm Yay, I have earned the right to mate! Simple, but fun enough. The gameplay has some potential, infortunately there's too few levels here to really show it off.
Aug 28 23:37:00 10m 00s The Joining Wow, a MMO, nice! Plus with decent graphics, pathfinding, combats that work pretty well... Good job. Too bad that the most innovative idea of this game requires that other players are present: unless someone is playtesting with a friend, there are chances that most people won't get to enjoy the multiplayer features.
Aug 28 23:44:00 7m 00s Sustenance Simple yet very interesting idea, it's the kind of game that makes you think "why nobody ever thought of this yet?!". Congrats!
Aug 28 23:50:00 6m 00s Microraptor Didn't know raptors had such flexible legs haha! I agree with the others, I looks nice, too bad there's nothing more. I'd be curious to know what the original plan was.
Aug 28 23:59:00 9m 00s Eden Awesome, this is one of the best entries I have got to play, and the first 3D game polished enough to make it really enjoyable. It's just humbling to see what you made in 48 hours!

The only suggestion I have is, rather to put the camera at a perfect 45° angle, setting it to ~50/60 would make the controls way more intuitive, I think. It's just to help the brain figure out when is the front and where are the sides!
Aug 29 08:23:00 8h 24m 'The Neon Pink Philosophy' Pretty cool entry with no real downsides, impressive! Even the audio narrative is actually awesome ;)
Aug 29 13:01:00 4h 38m Mutate Now! Funny one, both endings are funny and unexpected! Well I had the same issues as mentioned by others regarding gameplay, otherwise it's all good. Nice job :)
Aug 29 14:14:00 1h 13m Wormelution Clever one! There are big Spore influences here but the gameplay remains original, and mood of the game quite unique thanks to the nice sound landscape and good graphics.

Ths main downside is that the evolution feature seems to lack some balance, since I always end like... short, and heavy... it's hard to find someone worth mating with ;) On the opposite I found the combat aspect of the game pretty fun.

Overall it remains a solid entry, congrats.
Sep 2 23:14:00 105h 00m Zombie Evolution Nice one, this minimalist game has most features one can expect from a shooter (including - slightly evolution-themed - powerups), except in very tiny and basic graphics.

It works well: random level generation, IAs, collisions, laser raytracing... Everything is fine, but the game is indeed quite difficult, as BMacIntosh mentioned it. Also, the game lacks some personality or something to make it stand out in some way.
Sep 2 23:26:00 12m 00s MuTaTrIs Nice variation of the good old Tetris!

Compared to usual implementations, the controls here might feel a bit "heavy" (nb: played on FF), otherwise it's all good. It's pretty fun to see the shapes progressively turning into a huge mess.
Sep 2 23:40:00 14m 00s Darwin's Turtle Race Challenge I have no idea why, but I kept playing this until most of my turtles werre awesome green beasts. This is an awesome take on the evolution theme, with a simple yet addictive gameplay.

Not only the graphics, but also the kinda naive gameplay and the UI give this game an authentic retro feel that seem quite polished. Congrats!
Sep 3 14:17:00 14h 37m The life of Cat Nice game! While the gameplay is not very rich this platformer remained interesting throughout the game thanks to the nice storytelling.

I noticed the same little frustations as above, being the slow cats movements in certain phases, and the short story (we want moar!! ;P)
Sep 3 15:46:00 1h 29m Assimilation Too bad you couldn't finish the game. Indeed as it is now it's not very enjoyable (hitbox issues, slightly uncomfortable controls and other bugs as you mentioned), but the graphics are quite nice.

I hope you'll get to be available the whole 48 hours time you'll enter! ;)
Sep 3 15:54:00 8m 00s Young Earth Road Trip Funny one, it's a pretty original interpretation of the theme. Nice job!
Sep 3 15:57:00 3m 00s Beer-Fridgevolution What the-
Sep 4 12:30:00 20h 33m Fire Frog Good idea, the gameplay is simple yet interesting. I too have been left with a mixed impression because of the camera movement, some hard times finding the gates, and the shoot key not being very reactive (I guess you implemented it by making shooting work only one tick out of X, but it's not very comfortable for playing. Instead when you shoot, you could set a timer to X, decreased with each tick, for which you'd have to wait until it's back to 0 until you can shoot again).

With these issues fixed this would certainly be a very entertaining game, so good job!
Sep 4 15:52:00 3h 22m The Plane of Evolution Binding of Isaac clone spotted!

It's hard not to compare to the original game here, since you seem to have taken from it a lot of ideas (gameplay + theme-wise), but regarding content and general quality this seems pretty solid for something made in 48 hours.

Side-note about the enemies recoil: while it is nicely implemented and gives good feedback when hitting enemies, it also happens to make the game a whole lot harder (it's hard to hit the same monster 2 times in a row), so I'm not sure about this design choice!

Now overall this game is quite fun to play so nice job :) Bonus point for the cool bonuses!
Sep 4 16:08:00 16m 00s ExoSlime Amazing entry, with a very polished gameplay and good-looking graphics! This is simply one of my favorites for LD24, too bad you couldn't fit it for the compo.

Also, props for the monsters IA (making them shake before attacking is a nice touch) and also for the text animation when hurting enemies ; these are the kind of details that make combat fun. With more contents I would clearly see this as a fun mobile game.

If I were to suggest something, it would be simply to add some basic leveling system: the main reason would be to make it more rewarding to fight monsters instead of rushing to the final boss. Also maybe increase the weapon hitbox a bit ;)
Sep 4 16:14:00 6m 00s Praegressus Bellum (Evolution War) After staring at the download page for 2mn I couldn't find the link for downloading this without subscribing. Please host it somewhere else, we're in 2012 and there is plenty of better ways to store files online!
Sep 4 16:27:00 13m 00s Simplex Evolution Tabulae Ludus Cool, a board game! I was wondering if anyone made such games for LD.

The graphics and animations are good-looking and very polished, congrats. Regarding the gameplay itself, while the rules are interesting, the computer is indeed not challenging enough to even begin to grasp the strategic potential of the game. Too bad.

Now after playing a bit against myself, I guess that adding the alternate victory condition you mentioned could make the game really interesting.

Overall, I'd say it's an original and pleasant entry :)
Sep 4 16:38:00 11m 00s Strike of Rage ! Eh ben eh ben... Une seule chose à dire, bravo monsieur Motion-Twin !
Sep 5 09:56:00 17h 18m Tokemon! VI : Struggle for eternity Hmmm there must be some bugs in the version I used (I played from the sources), because nothing happens when I successfully beat an enemy - the fight continues, and there's nothing I can do. So, impossible for me to evolve up to a cheezburger cat D:

Too bad, because otherwise this entry seems cool! As a long-time Pokemon player I found the parody quite funny thanks to these dumb attacks and evolutions.
Sep 5 10:37:00 41m 00s Dorobou Neko! I spent 15mn pulling my hair on level 5, has anyone actually beat it?

Ehem sorry. About the review... Let's say that after the well-animated intro, when I started playing, I already felt like the game was already nice enough, but then I clicked on "Start", and the reaction was: "Oh my, he even had the time to add an isometric view on top of the rest?" So congrats, the game is really entertaining, the graphics are cool and the music weird but nice, my only complaint is for the slow speed of the character during the isometric view, a "speed x2" button or something would be nice.

But I REALLY need some info about level 5 - at least a confirmation that it can be finished in the current game version ^^ I even tried to exploit some bugs (like the cat not hurting you on this level, the bridges being walkable when up) but even that didn't help...
Sep 6 07:10:00 20h 33m UN-Natural Selection It's hard not to rate this 5/5 all across the board. A funny and innovative gameplay that fits perfectly the theme, awesome and consistent graphics, a pretty decent audio...

This game could go as-is to Armor Games/Kongregate and probably meet some moderate success, and it's been done in 72 hours. Congrats YellowBouncyBall team!
Sep 6 08:33:00 1h 23m IO VUOLE ZEN If there was a WTF rating, you would have won all 3 medals.
Sep 6 08:52:00 19m 00s Eve You seem to have put various good ideas into this game, unfortunately either I didn't get how it works, or the gameplay lacks some active interactions and feedback on their consequences.

Too bad, since the game seems to be an interesting blend of things like Dungeon Keeper, The Sims or Dwarf Fortress. Also it seems like you have produced a quite impressive amount of work in here, given the minimap, etc. So what you came with in 48hrs is pretty cool, only the game is not very fun to play overall.

For the next LD you'll join, my advice would be to take some time to put yourself a bit more in the shoes of the player - and maybe make some friends test the game before the 48 hours end - and I'm pretty sure you will come up with an awesome game.
Sep 6 10:32:00 1h 40m Eat or Die OMG my head falled off because I didn't eat enough chicken! Very simple yet fun game ; also checkpoints are a great relief, otherwise the game would have been way too frustrating! Nice work
Sep 6 11:52:00 1h 20m Mass After about 10 attempts and reading the instructions twice, I still have to get the logic of the controls. Cells just expand by themselves, and clicking seems to have little to no effect on their progression. Not sure how, but at some point I managed to end with most of the first level surface, yet I only got a score of 49%.

Props for the nice intro and the pretty cool graphics, but I couldn't really enjoy the gameplay itself!
Sep 7 15:19:00 27h 27m OF SPECIES This game looks absolutely amazing. There's a special mood in here that I'd love to see in some kind of space-horror movie!

The first worm and the ending both almost gave me a heart attack :-x
Sep 10 12:44:00 69h 25m Yellow Dog Nicely made! It gets a bit repetitive and could enjoy some sort of end, but it's already a pretty cool tamagotchi with nice graphics/animations.
