LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Bullet Break by JCMonkey 2018-04-23T21:14:22Z

The idea is great, I've always wanted see what hundreds of balls in breakout would be like (it looks like molecules!). However, the gameplay gets monotonous as its just alternating between left and right, unless im missing something. Maybe you could add more variety in the inputs, and also think about incorporating bricks as well?

Lootbox Simulator 2018 by aaranos 2018-04-23T22:44:58Z

Wow, I also used libGDX! How did you get it to work on html5?

As for the game itself, I can't see how it fits the theme. Is it lootboxes+clicker games? Anyway this game has a lot of potential if you added a something more than a clicker aspect, like make the loot have cool effects.

Clidger by Mathiouza 2018-04-24T01:47:21Z

Reminds me of those flash games where you get infinite tries but u get more and more gold every time, progressing slowly, i like it. Only major complaint is the slow transitions between the shop and in-game, and between the death to shop. This game has great potential and can scale really well like a good clicker game. Also I like the attention to detail in the shop, how higher level upgrades spin faster

Text-Gen Platformer by agentparsec 2018-04-23T02:55:19Z

This is a really cool concept. It was a lot of fun after I figured out the controls, lol. Took me forever to figure out how to move, Also "Quit" doesn't work. Overall, I can see high potential for this format of a game. It definitely rewards faster typers, which makes it cool to even watch this game.

BEAT KILLER by Dragojt 2018-04-23T21:32:18Z

I really like this idea, since I grew up with DDR. The music fits the mood, but is a bit repetitive. There should be a penalty for missing an arrow, since you can just spam arrows and still attack lol. The restart after death should bring you to the beginning of the level, not to the main menu. Overall, I love the idea, and with some tweaks it can be very expandable with more dynamic levels and more song tracks.

Blockland by Ghost20000 2018-04-23T23:07:21Z

This definitely feels like dungeon defenders in 2d, i like it. The interface is very nice and simple, i like how the upgrade buttons are on the towers themselves. The music is well-made, but I'm not sure if it fits the mood. You can also push into enemies to stop them (not sure if this is intentional). Overall this game has great potential, just slap on some assets and its 2d dungeon defenders.

fishing: into the abyss by baconsenpaii 2018-04-23T22:59:12Z

I wouldn't classify this game as fishing since its just dodging and shooting + cards. The execution of these ideas was great though, as the cards were very useful like the oxygen and the shotgun. Even though the art and music were mediocre, the game itself is fun and compelling.

Shooter Maze by pohead12345 2018-04-23T21:56:16Z

@Dragojt Yeah, the levels take forever to complete, and I also figured that the music wasn't exactly fitting for the mood of the game. I could make the individual tiles larger to make shorter levels. Thanks for the feedback.

Shooter Maze by pohead12345 2018-04-23T22:01:58Z

@jack-hipson Thanks for the feedback. I had thought that it would require "skill" to aim for the correct arrow, but I realize that it gets tedious after a while, considering how long the levels are. So I'm definitely going to try to make it so that there won't be arrows that are impossible to shoot because other arrows are blocking the way.

Shooter Maze by pohead12345 2018-04-24T01:38:49Z

@Mathiouza Yep, I realized what I made is more like a proof of concept rather than a game with real depth. I'm definitely going to work on much shorter levels and more dynamic gameplay later. Thank you for the feedback. Also, you mean that you like the menu theme more than the in-game theme?
