LD38 — A Small World

ATLANTIS by OccultOne 2017-05-19T08:29:04Z

I can see that this game has been pretty popular so far, and I can also clearly see why. It's a really cool and fun concept that is executed very well. It feels very carefully designed, and I love the graphics. Keep up the good work!

This is an interesting game. I definitely love the unique idea. The graphics are very cute and well done, the sound track is fitting, and the whole thing is pretty funny and entertaining. It would be nice if there was a little more variety to the gameplay itself. As far as I played (and maybe I didn't play for long enough?) it started to feel a tad repetitive. Of course, there's only so much you can do in such a limited time. That said, it's very well done and I think it's an excellent game. Good work, keep it up!

This is by far one of my favorite Ludum Dare entries I've seen so far. I spent a good while playing it, and it's very fun and feels very well thought out and complete. Excellent work!

Conquer Earth by Lars DK 2017-05-19T07:18:16Z

This was a pretty interesting game to play. It's not usually my style of game, but I have to say that after spending a little time and slowly figuring out what I was doing, it was quite a bit of fun to play. I can't say I was any good at it, but I enjoyed it. I could definitely see myself spending way too much time playing this game. It felt very polished, and you completed your graphics, music, and sound effects, which is awesome. All in all, very fun. Good work!

Asteroid Field by Mesa 2017-05-19T04:32:49Z

@feips You're 100% right, all of the asteroids spawn along a line just outside of the screen, and the early part of the game limits the velocity quite a bit, so the unfortunate side effect is that lengthy delay in the very beginning. It's something I would've liked to have fixed, but time was running kind of low, but oh well. Thank for playing by the way!

@flusap, @zondarg, @gael-philippe Much appreciated for checking out the game, and thanks for the kind words!

@theslate Thanks for playing! I noticed that myself when I was debugging on the last day, but I wasn't sure what to do about it. I did try increasing the cooldown on the rockets to prevent that, but it didn't help all that much. I definitely need to work on balancing difficulty in general though. Thanks for the feedback!

@lars-dk Thanks for the tips, and I'm glad you enjoyed! I've definitely got a lot of things to try improving on next LD. Thanks for taking the time to help out a newbie like me!

@hierophant Thanks for the kind words! I agree on the asteroid sizing thing. I thought it would look neat, and it does, but after the time ran out I kind of regretted not making the difficulty increase make the asteroids smaller instead, and maybe give them a bit more speed. And the rocket upgrades, if you noticed those, are another feature I think really hurt more than it helped. Anyway, thanks for playing and for the advice!

Asteroid Field by Mesa 2017-05-19T06:33:47Z

@occultone Thanks for checking it out! Lack of difficulty was definitely one of my regrets for this game, but it's a good lesson for next time. Thanks for the help!

Asteroid Field by Mesa 2017-05-19T07:21:56Z

@demyhallar Thanks for playing! There is actually a time-based increase in the size of the planets, their maximum speed, spawn rate, and maximum number of asteroids, but I agree with you, it isn't quite enough to make it challenging. I definitely need to get better at balancing the difficulty. Thanks for the feedback! (and agreed, the planet is the cutest part of the game)

@daisychubb Thanks for the kind words and feedback! Definitely agreed, it's a good lesson for next time.

Samhain: Fly Away Home by Vanillycake 2017-05-19T08:18:01Z

This is my new favorite game I've seen this Ludum Dare. It's very fun to play, but I think my favorite thing about it is that this game feels like a work of art. The graphics are beautiful and fun, the audio is fitting and complete, and the controls and mechanics feel well designed. The concept is simple but I enjoyed it so thoroughly that I happily played until I completed it. Amazing work, guys, keep it up!

Locker C-18 by simonmnt 2017-05-19T04:45:56Z

Great work guys! It's a pretty fun little maze game. I have to say, the sound effects are pretty hilarious and unexpected. All in all, very entertaining!

Whale Fall by theslate 2017-05-19T06:51:06Z

This is a really fun game. I like the simplicity of it, and it's pretty addicting, if not a tad bit frustrating (but in a fun way). There are a couple of issues when you land right on the edge of the whales, and I had more than a handful of impenetrable cascades of whales, but despite all that, in my opinion, this is an excellent game. Great work!

Talk Isn't Cheap by Riker Greenslade 2017-05-19T09:23:42Z

This is absolutely one of the most fun games I've played this Ludum Dare. My favorite thing by far is the fun and catchy music, and I love that it is actually feedback on game progress. The game itself is quite fun and addicting. Excellent work!
