LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Rise Of Corruption by Wevel 2017-12-05T04:07:37Z

Mechanically, one of the best games I've played so far, incredible how you managed to do it in such a small timeframe. The flow of enemies feels just right for the player to get used to the mechanics, whilst realizing that they won't be able to hide behind loads and loads of wooden walls forever (totally wasn't my strategy).

In terms of improvements, there were times when I had to right click a bunch to get the 'mine' command to work again for some reason. Not sure if it was just my PC, but I found that particularly finnicky when that happened. Certainly not a game-breaker or anything like that though.

Additionally, it could certainly use a tiny bit of audio, even if they're just little things, as right now it feels a little awkward without anything of the sort. Other than that, this game was solid, and could evolve into something special with the right tweaks. Great job!

Pleasant theme and the audio sounds quite nice, but I'm not really sure how it ties into the theme. After shearing 3 sheep, I wasn't really sure where to go from there.

A good effort, though!

Shoot off their lumps by pixeye 2017-12-05T04:15:25Z

Visually, one of the best I've played so far. The theme you establish is fantastic right from the start, though I'm not sure if I'm really feeling the connection with the theme.

Either way though, I understand you must've run out of time, but this is absolutely brilliant for such a short timeframe. Love the title and the simple, yet fun and polished mechanics. Will be coming back to finish this one for sure. Great work!

ClickerVillage by Chao 2017-12-05T03:41:44Z

Great little clicker game with fun little twists, and I like how you played the theme of 'the more you have, the worse it gets' into the housing crisis that happens with the lumberjacks, and the darker twists the more and more you play (not spoiling it, but things get pretty out of hand for your poor village haha).

From the humorous dialogue pop-ups, to the nice pixel art, to the great music, and the witty things that happen over the course of the clicker game, this is definitely one of my favorites so far. Great work! Extremely impressive for the timeframe given in my opinion.

He's actually going for the true achievement, the absolute madman

This game was really interesting; I liked how surreal everything was, and I just couldn't stop laughing as I was trying to figure out what was happening, especially after vomiting 3 times.

I think I eventually got the hang of it and understood what you were going for. I think (?) I managed to beat the rat puzzle before I got rekt by the manager for being generally rotten.

Was very entertaining overall, though could certainly use a bit more guidance for the player of some sort.

Really nice level design on this one, and the controls are nice and responsive for a driving game.

Going unbelievably slow due to my want to pick up all the things was kind of frustrating at first, but I suppose that's the point? I soon adapted and did loads of small deliveries instead of trying to do one huge one.

This would definitely benefit with some sound effects, but other than that, I think this was a solid entry. I like the general aesthetic a lot, too. Good work!

The Carrier by Pixel Shade 2017-12-06T21:40:40Z

Great game, especially in terms of the graphics complimenting the sound design.

I was a little confused on what to do at first (where to put the cargo in particular, and that you had to gently land on the cargo pad to not die), but I eventually got the hang of it. Might want to show some sort of visual representation on how to do it for other players.

Overall though, the difficulty was fun. Maybe it'd benefit better with a health system rather than the ship instantly dying as soon as it tickles a wall, but it was still excellent and actually fun to play. Great work!

Your Land by Mighty CheBo 2017-12-05T16:36:22Z

Loved the interpretation for the theme for this one. One of the most intriguing games I've played in terms of narrative-wise, and I spent ages trying to 'beat' it, but I like the way there's no real way to win, as that further pushes forward the message you were going for.

Really great work.

Weeb Runner by Natsu 2017-12-05T03:17:52Z

Pretty hard, but I like the concept overall. Watching your character get distracted with the magazine and get hindered by the various obstacles was quite funny, and fit the theme well.

Level design could've used a bit more polish as some jumps are incredibly difficult (especially with those deadly burgers in the way), but a solid game overall.
