LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Power of Djent by Rubel 2015-05-01T22:41:00

Very clever!! I loved the use of colors and the sprites. Some feedback:

- It'd be nice if you could attack in air so aerial movement and fights are easier.
- I like the random riffs, but it should start with a small riff as soon as you press the key.

Keep up the great work!

Angry Vinyl Players by epiplon 2015-05-01T22:06:00

The movement felt good, but the look sensitivity needs adjusting. Maybe an options menu with sliders? Or maybe have the player set the sensitivity before starting. Also a slower progression of enemy spawning would have been nice. Maybe even a wave counter?

Nice work! :)

The morning type by Liam :D 2015-04-22T11:37:00

Very well made!

I like the general background movement around the room and the interaction with the alarm clock. One small suggestion: Maybe you could have a countdown or at least let the player know that the "end of the game" is when they reach the door. I found that I would take my time towards the end (because I didn't know where the end was) and lose points.

Good job!

SolarGun by Acrimiens 2015-04-22T12:16:00

Your game and concept is very fun and interesting. I like the general art direction. You also made some great design choices (especially with the gun and being able to see each "bullet" that it has).

However, I think it might make the game a little less frustrating at times if you allowed the player to not withdraw the orb that they're standing on. I found myself guessing as to where to shoot (since everything is pitch black), but I quickly ran out of ammunition in order to traverse the level. If I could just jump on one orb, and collect the others, I think that would open up a lot of possibilities for level design in the future.

Also, I'm not sure if it is a bug, but I was unable to move through the first door after obtaining the gun. I had to "die" (step into the darkness) to get to the other side.

Great job overall!

Prism Break by gatinmnsok 2015-05-01T21:37:00

Clever! I really love the concept and would play a game like this. Some feedback:

- Mouse wheel rotate is too slow
- Sound effects (perhaps guitar string plucks?) would add more personality
- More movement. Maybe a slowly rotating prism or some moving "enemies"
- Allow prisms to push each other around

Keep up the good work!

Smash Drones by ZoneOne2 2015-05-01T22:16:00

Aww man, I wasn't able to get this to run :( I can see the startup screen and 'ready' each player. But when the game starts the window loses focus. Then if I click in the window it freezes :( Looks cool though!

Nögg Saber by Shivur 2015-05-01T22:31:00

Can't play it, I get this:

---------------------------
Java Virtual Machine Launcher
---------------------------
A Java Exception has occurred.

OK

The War Dog by Xinelu 2015-04-23T11:08:00

The music and overall mood of the game is great! It actually made me feel something as I was playing, which I applaud you for. As other's are saying, the gameplay was a little simplistic, but it might actually fit for something like this. I think if you went for more of a "Gone Home" kind of game, where you focus on story-telling rather than gameplay systems, you'll have a great experience. Good luck!

Phage Therapy by uberscientist 2015-05-01T22:48:00

I thought the sound effects and music was spot on, very atmospheric! Reminds me of surgeon simulator a little bit in those regards. Here's some suggestions:

- Add different levels with new enemies shapes/colors
- Add different bacteriophages to attack with
- Mouse wheel through each bacteriophage you can use

Very cool, I could see myself playing this for a lot time :)

Bonfires by Ivan Sukhanov 2015-04-22T11:51:00

The art direction for this is FANTASTIC! I love the particles, sound, and general mood you set up.

Like everyone else I was confused by the objective of the game. However, after reading your comment, it makes a lot more sense. It was a little too dark for me to see the panels to get all of them, but that may be because it's very bright in my room right now (I'll try again later tonight).

Also, the character movement was a little bit too slow for me. I think it could be a little faster and still keep the mood you were looking for.

Overall, great job! I look forward to seeing more of this in the future!

Celery Samurai by rantt 2015-04-23T11:58:00

This was a very fun little game! I really enjoyed the "Super Mario Brothers" feel I got from it, especially since it involves a weapon (which I've always wanted in SMB rather than jumping on things). I especially enjoy the carrot boss at the end.

The only thing I found a little cumbersome was your choice on the jump buttons. I found using A or Up Arrow to be a little awkward when jumping, maybe having the Shift keys as the jump button would have helped? That being said, I think it's mostly personal preference.

Great job overall!

Sock Ninja by monkeedude1212 2015-05-01T23:07:00

Very well made! I love the music and sound effects. Beginning, middle, and end... nice! Just a small suggestion: make the enemy colliders more round so you can't stand on them so perfectly :)

DuckvsChickens by RuslanAkhmetsharipov 2015-05-01T22:29:00

Very creative! I loved the duck character model you play as XD Here's some feedback:

- The walking speed was very, very slow for me
- Does the game end at the second door? An ending screen would help
- An instruction screen would help with controls
- Some 'reloading' text would help with the weapon, I was very worried at first that I couldn't reload!

Keep up the good work! :)

Super SALT Helmet by DarkwindMedia 2015-04-23T11:36:00

At first I was a little skeptical about a local multiplayer game, but with the inclusion of some basic AI, it just works. What you're left with is a fantastic game! The amount of polish put into the presentation is amazing!

However, I wish I had a little more control over my space slug. I think making the rotation steps a little smaller (maybe around 25-30 degrees instead of 45) would open up a lot of opportunities for more diverse arenas (especially since it would give the player more precision).

I'm also a bit confused on how one player "beats" another. I found myself charging at another player at the same time, only to find that I died, but didn't understand why. Maybe a better defined death/win condition would help? Or possibly having some kind of health indicator?

Overall, I think you guys did a fantastic job!

Kitten Defense by Archonthewizard 2015-04-25T22:55:00

One of best all around entries I've seen so far! The amount of polish and attention to detail is fantastic!

However, I think the kittens are slightly overpowered at times. There were times where I was just sitting, watching the kittens kill things rather than wrangling them with the laser pointer. Maybe they need to be slightly dumber?

Nonetheless, great job!!

Dead Pixel by lebrokholic 2015-04-23T10:58:00

Great game! The art design is really well done and thought through. It feels a lot like QUBE or Portal to me.
However, I would consider either "speeding up" the wall destruction or completely disabling the collision so that the player can move through when the wall is destroyed. I was going at a "normal" pace and felt a little constrained by having to wait for the cubes to disappear.

Good luck on your future Steam Greenlight!

Unconventional Boxing by randomJammer 2015-04-23T11:16:00

This is a funny little game. Think if you added a "jump" button to the controls, you might get a little more diverse gameplay out of it. I also think it would make for a fun multiplayer "micro-game", especially with the simplified controls. Good job!

Junk Yard Gladiators by HeffJoker 2015-04-22T11:24:00

Thanks for playing Liam! I've since fixed the web link... it should now direct to a Unity Web Player.

Unfortunately, my teammate and I are programmers by trade, so we put the art direction off until the last minute. :-/ I'll be sure to keep your suggestion in mind for the future. Thanks for the feedback!
