LD38 — A Small World

Escape The World by Ajayajayaj 2017-05-13T21:23:04Z

One of my favourite games in this Ludum Dare. Very well executed, fun and smart. Takes that 2048 fad that was going around a while back and gives it an original spin.

The woosh sounds were brilliant.

Good job.

The music was great (except for the opening screens where it didn't continue through slides and just started over). The concept is great in itself, very original. Avoiding the other cars, changing locations constantly - keep is interesting!

The overhead view reminds me of the old GTA games (that's a good thing. You got points for that. Hurray!)

A Cage of Love by Quetzakol 2017-05-15T13:06:22Z

I enjoyed the game. A bit of music and more sound effects would have been nice. The "void" shapes coming towards me didn't pose any problem, making the game extremely easy (but you weren't going for challenging anyway...)

The story is nice. I chose to stay with my partner :)

Spider Collider by mooncalf 2017-05-13T22:16:31Z

Kudos for the audio. It was really fun to play with that in the background.

I found out that 90% of the time you can just jump immediately as you land and finish the levels almost instantly. The 10% is where there are too many adjacent balls, so you need to crawl to the edge and then jump. Maybe you should ban smartasses like me from playing.

Llama's World by fancy89 2017-05-15T09:50:03Z

Funny idea, great llama sound effects and great gameplay.

Still can't believe people actually manage to pull something like this off in a game jam...

Planetary Escape by w1n5t0n 2017-05-13T21:14:06Z

I have a degree in Physics and I find this game offensive.

Just kidding. It's a very enjoyable game. I like the controls, they are simple and to the point. Planet-hopping is a lot of fun. In the beginning I tried gunning down the police ships, but then changed tactics and tried to get as many of them on the screen as I could without being caught. Both options were fun!

I wonder what the high-score is.

And seriously, you can't change trajectories like that in mid-orbit. It makes the Kerbal in me go crazy. But I swallowed my pride and enjoyed it anyway!

Rock-E by endlesspeak 2017-05-14T17:24:48Z

Great graphics for such a short time! The whole concept was great, with all the world (asteroid) building and the rock jokes. Sounds like a lot of fun to make this game and record all the dialogue.

Greedy Nations by Squatch 2017-05-09T14:10:05Z

Very interesting game. I am planning to spend more time on it later after rating more games.

It took me a while to understand what was going on, but after a few tries playing with the priorities I understood how to defend and take towns. Unfortunately I had trouble distributing troops around: they seemed to like certain towns very much and at the same time remained completely indifferent to other towns with the same priority.

The issue that bothered me most was the distinction between my soldiers and the enemy soldier. I sometimes didn't understand who was this massive group moving around, so I didn't know if it was reinforcement or an attack.

Basically an interesting idea, quite ambitious, and I enjoyed playing. I'll probably get back to the game later to try again.

Antagonistic : Hamburger Hill by ryte2byte 2017-05-13T21:45:24Z

Great game! Great concept and a skillful execution. It took me a round to master the mechanics, and then I got around to fending off the hordes of beetles/tanks.

The "military" theme of the introduction set an cool mood, and I did feel like I was holding a fort.

I couldn't quite get oriented on the directions (north? west? what?) so I had to rely on finding my stream of worker ants. Not the best way to find directions...

God save the queen's lunch!

SPAAAAAACE. by Kano 2017-05-20T14:56:07Z

Barely counts as a game, but is quite a nice accomplishment for 1.5 hours!

In the beginning I was skeptical about the controls (Q and D? what about A and D?) but found that this was actually quite a good choice.

Small Whirled by PTSnoop 2017-05-13T21:59:55Z

Cool concept. It was a little confusing to figure out the reaction of the physics engine to the paddles and directions. Sometimes paddling radially just got me straight to safety (lower levels mostly), and sometimes it was a sure recipe for meeting my demise in the whirlpool. Paddling tangent was also sometimes good to avoid rocks that are farther out, but sometimes I randomly found myself sucked back in.

The graphics are great - not need for anything fancy, this definitely got the job done! Everything was clear.

Of Course I Remember You! by GaiusJulius 2017-05-13T21:27:12Z

@rytebyte Glad you enjoyed the Zardoz quote :) I'm going to make the entire team watch this movie soon so that everyone will understand why @zeler and I put it down :)

The number of people popping up is random - 3, 4 or 5. Maybe we should have made it a permanent 4, but oh well!

This is my spot by k8n 2017-05-04T21:14:23Z

Short but sweet. For some reason I never managed to kick properly while going up, and always ended up thrown off the bottom when I tried it.

Adding a difficulty increase over time would have made me play much longer!

I like the music and sound effects very much.

He wanted to kill me? :(

Ha ha ! I managed to thwart his plans!

Cute game, I liked the shield.
