LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Momma's Little Monster by dalbinblue 2015-12-14T05:23:00

Found one more case where you can get stuck and not be able to complete the game: https://i.imgur.com/DueAcYF.png

That said, this is one of my favorites so far. It's almost reminiscent of bubble bobble. The graphics are simple but effective, the background music is enjoyable

drludos: I used a C-based framework named GBDK. No assembly code for this entry. I've done plenty of assembly for the NES 6502... not so much for the gameboy's variant of z80, however.

Source code is on github above if you're curious.

Thanks for the feedback!

mlepage: Yeah, I know about the collisions during screen change thing. It stinks - I just didn't have the time to sort it out properly. I tried to move enemies around to minimize it, but some were definitely missed. Likewise, thanks for the feedback!

Thanks to those who are giving feedback without anything to answer as well. It's always appreciated.

AUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHH!!!!!

Simple. Fun. I enjoyed it. My high score is 66m. On that note, it would have been really nice to keep/show a high score.

Journey of a Ball by guoboism 2015-12-31T06:47:00

That was honestly a very enjoyable little game. I'll definitely echo the comment that it reminds me of NightSky.

My only complaint is the audio skipped at the end of the track when looping sometimes. It was kind of jarring.

Overall though, awesome entry.

V BALL by longloaf 2015-12-20T16:35:00

I beat it. Well done! A little bit of a test of hand-eye coordination, but that doesn't make it not fun. I think the dashed lines in the background made it a lot easier to figure out where each button press would land you.

It's simple, clever and addicting. Pretty great entry.

Definitely hit a few impossible jumps, and the collisions feel just a touch wonky. That said, it's simple, fun, and almost a little addicting.

I got up to 42 on my highest run.

Pretty fun, though it's really hard to adjust your speed to dodge some of the fireballs in time.

Graphics look great for a gb game, and the controls manage to feel completely natural. Great entry.

ReachTheTop by coldman 2015-12-15T00:19:00

I'll agree that it was a good idea, and I liked that the levels changed each time I played. The sound was pretty solid as well. I think it was a good attempt. That said, it sounds like you want some honest feedback, so I will give a little.

I think the two main complaints I could raise might be around player/enemy movement. Not having the player sprite face a direction (or having some other indicator) made it hard to tell where my attack was going to go. I can remember what direction I last walked in, but it's a little unexpected to not have that visual aid. Additionally, it feels weird that enemies don't stop moving/slow down/change direction/do something when they're hit.

Please don't be discouraged; as I said, I still think it is a good entry.

As a last note, the theme is present, though maybe a little subtle. The plant growth links the levels together.

LD35 — Shapeshift

Facade by euske 2016-04-23T15:23:00

I didn't participate in this one so I can't vote - just wanted to say that was really fun. The mechanic of making other things fight for you was pretty unique and I liked it.

I also wanted to say I didn't find the gameplay of the final boss hard at all - it just extended what you had been doing all along. Great compo entry!
