Im not sure is level 3 even beatable
cozy gear puzzle, and keeping the gear count low gives it a nice goal. on my first try i couldnt tell which axle is the driver or if gears in between have to mesh, highlighting meshed gears would clear that up
I completed seven or eight levels. I'm not sure. It's a great idea, but I quickly got bored with it. Limiting the play area makes it harder, but not more fun.
Failed on the level where you were supposed to stack wheels, I assume. But otherwise great game!
yea i failed on the stack level too but the idea is really fun. i would like to see much more levels
Cool game. Really takes the easy to learn hard to master to perfection. The music was nice. Impressive piece for a 48h game. Well done!
Nice game. Took me quite a few tries to pass the first stackable level. The game kept deleting my gears and as far as I could tell the only way to recover was to restart the game from the beginning. (For jam games especially I highly recommend having easy ways to restart the level in case of glitches).
I felt a bunch of times that the gear ratio math seemed off, but after double-checking it when writing this comment I think I was just wrong. I guess the gear ratios can be quite unintuitive sometimes. Level 4 was definitely a real puzzle even after I realized you could stack the gears (yes, I somehow ignored the prompt when I first saw it...), I got stuck on this idea of stacking the gears on the top axle and chaining them down to the bottom axle, but that was wrong. So, that was cool.
I like the sound effects and the way the gears click into place, it is very satisfying.
My final score: 28 total components used.
I always like seeing gears, it's a fun idea. I felt snapping them into place was a bit fiddly, could have used a bit more wiggle room there, especially when trying to get them on the existing axels/knobs.
I was also confused by the stacking level and wasn't sure what I was supposed to do (like I see kind of something in your screenshot, but couldn't get the gears to align in any way). I only managed to get the medium gear overlaid the big gear, but I couldn't do much with that. I also wanted the teeth to be offset a bit to better mesh for the spinning... 😅 Definitely a lot of possibilities!
Oh, what did you use to create the music? Always interested in what tools folks are using.
Well, this certainly gave my two brain cells a challenge! After more trial-and-error than I'm comfortable admitting, I was finally able to finish it:
Even though the mechanics are simple, the gameplay is not. There's a lot to keep track of (direction, speed, placement) and the levels do a good job of exploring each.
I had a strange bug occur to me where components started disappearing when placed (solved by restarting), but other than that I encountered no issues with the gears.
Fun little puzzle game!
@mikeware
Thanks.
I mainly used the [Free Orchestra VST](https://projectsam.com/libraries/the-free-orchestra) and then the percussion were samples that I think came with Ableton or some other sample pack.
I was planning to get the meshing to work better but ended up running out of time.
@honey-pony @the-big-lost Thanks for trying my game. Strangely despite all the other bugs I ran into when testing the game, I never encountered missing gears. Maybe they were placed just off-screen?
Really nice puzzle game! I liked the concept and how it makes you think through each level. The difficulty is pretty challenging, but that's part of the fun. Cool little game, great work!
This was a surprisingly deep and challenging puzzle game. The difficulty ramp was really well done. The music and sound effects complemented the gameplay well. I had a little bit of trouble consistently placing gears with the mouse but that might have just been me. Thanks for sharing.
Very satisfying to play! Sometimes got some snapping issues, but otherwise flawless, well done :)
This is a good puzzle game. The music and sound effects fit the game well. I did have a few gears disappear, I'm not sure why. It had simple gameplay, but made a good challenge. It had a good slow teaching/learning curve, which made it nice for understanding. Good game and good job.
