nice
An interesting room-based shooter! I really liked the visuals and how punchy the shooting feels.
I tried beating the boss a few times, but each time I seemed to die even though it hadn’t hit me. :( It looked like a bug to me, but the gameplay is fast-paced and fun. The sounds are really punchy and cool too.
I Like it!
I like the idea to be honest! The graphics are really into the theme too.
I'm more familiar with moving using WASD and shooting using my mouse, I had to adapt my playstyle... And, without even noticed, I beat the boss not once, but twice, I was thinking that I have to beat 6 bosses, not 6 sectors / rooms, after seeing the same boss for the second time I noticed this.
The sounds really fit into the game. Found some bugs (not the enemies 😂 ) at the pause menu and can't access a button... I might be incompetent after all...
But I like the idea, good job!
Cool monitor effect. It’s great that there’s a boss. The music doesn’t get tiresome. Not bad for a game jam.
A really great atmosphere! the visuals and sounds are very reminiscent of the aesthetic of old PCs, and the controls feel very good when using a controller. Unfortunately, every time I reach the first boss, I end up getting killed even though it doesn't even touch me. Well done on your work!
Terrific little arcade game! Loved the glowing CRT aesthetic, and nippy gameplay. Took me a minute to get coordinated between shooting and moving.
Excellent work, well done!
fun idea!
Cool game with funky music. The corona viruses get stuck on corners sometimes, otherwise very well executed and #noAi gang 👍
I really liked the concept and found it quite immersive. I wish you'd had more time to develop it and make it a bit longer, because I think one of the best things you can say about a game is that it leaves you wanting more. And I literally played through it twice! It really reminded me of the way hackers were portrayed in 1980s movies, and the music fits that atmosphere really well. Overall, it was a really fun experience. Great job!
This color scheme idea is really great! I love the bold fonts and thick lines. 👍
Cool game with funky music.
Pretty fun game. I love the artstyle you've got going on, it looks very good. I thought I died when I won the first time lmao, but it is what it is. Great job !
The setup of having your last defense against a failing system is fantastic, and it immediately hooked me. It's really cool to see how well the gameplay captures the chaotic desperation of a corrupted machine trying to fight back.
Funny, love the music and art
Playing as an antivirus inside a dying 1986 computer is a great take on the theme, and the CRT look sounds spot on. Hope the boss hit detection gets sorted. Fun concept!
Love the retro CRT look, the bold aesthetic, and that funky soundtrack, it really nails the dying 80s computer vibe. The room based shooter loop is super snappy and punchy. The boss hitboxes feel a bit unpredictable though, as you can easily take damage out of nowhere. Still, really fun concept and great work for a jam!
The atmosphere was great, and it was a fun little shooter; few points of feedback: 1. The screenshake with each bullet was a bit too much 2. I died like 3x at the first boss with no clue why, I just suddenly died? No clue what happens there. 3. It was a bit confusing sometimes when entering exiting a level on the left side, but then also entering the new level at the left side.
I also died multiple times at the first boss, without any clue on why... (or maybe i'm just bad :D). But the game has a strong visual identity, nice!
Fun, very polished, unfortunately short. I'd love to see more rooms, upgrades, and have it turn into an actual roguelike.
Great atmosphere and soundtrack, really nails the vibe. I found the screenshake was maybe a little to prominent, but not enough to ruin the experience. A bit on the shorter side, but I don't think that's a problem really - it didn't overstay its welcome. Good job!
Really cool game! I love the concept of playing as an antivirus fighting corrupted files and viruses inside an old computer!
The retro pixel art and overall aesthetic fit the atmosphere perfectly Overall, a really creative concept with lots of potential, especially for a game jam project! Great job!
The soundtrack immediately hooked me. It sets a fun, retro vibe that matches the whole experience. In general, the game has a strong identity. Art, sound, and gameplay all work towards that fun, retro, arcade feeling.
I liked seeing aspects such as "coins" and "map" be blocked by "file corruption." If the game was longer, that's a great way to keep me interested in continuing to play, in hopes of "restoring" those aspects and seeing how they deepen the gameplay.
The viruses were my favorite enemies, because of how they move: they chase you and are just fast enough to be a concern, but not so fast as to feel unfair. And I absolutely love how they get "stuck" on walls and corners. I'm not sure if that's entirely intentional, but it feels appropriate. They are spikey, so yes, of course they get stuck if they're too close to soemthing! And it opens up strategic ways of playing: lure a bunch of viruses to a corner, get them stuck, knock them out.
The start of the levels felt a bit like a jumpscare, because I was never entirely sure where I was and where the enemies were. Sometimes they were right to on top of me already!
Honestly, I don't entirely hate the concept of random level starts. I think such random starts could add to the gameplay, provided they didn't feel overly unfair. Spawning in a new level with two viruses right on top of you that you cannot physically dodge feels unfair. Spawning in a new level with just enough time to get your bearings and dodge those viruses feels _fantastic_. There's a fine line there between enjoyable chaos that makes you feel powerful when you concur it, and chaos that's discouragingly unfair.
All in all, for me this is a strong game that matches the jam theme perfectly and shows of some fun game design. Well done!
Short and sweet. The aesthetic and music is lovely.
Was a bit disorientating to leave a room through an exit and spawn somewhat randomly in the next room (e.g. exiting to the right, and spawning somewhere in the middle of the next room).
Also got confused when I beat the boss and thought I died as well, but noticed that the boss HP bar didn't change on my second run.
Very clean and smooth gameplay wise. Good job!
