The idea of creating an 70s RTS in the terminal, that's then playable over SSH is genuinely such a great idea!
Also, if anyone wants to join the best corp: `MXG7U` ;)
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD60 → TERMINALWARS

I popped in, got a bit spooked, but didn't leave - the graphics are nice. Messed around with a few things, and honestly, it’s a great vibe for sitting and thinking while having some tea.
so freaky, but i like it, keep going!!!
I played for an hour or two, built some stuff, raided some places. The tech / idea behind the SSH version + the web version both working together is really cool. As constructive feedback, I didn't really know if what I was doing was the thing I "should" be doing and it a bit quiet / slow. Really cool though and still a solid entry!
Good management sim that saves and keeps running even when you're offline.
I love the TTY graphics !
The fact that this is playable on SSH is great ! Reminds me of late.sh project
Great experience
Hi! I really like the graphics and how deep the gameplay is! I especially like being able to connect to your game via SSH!
Nicely done!
I was gonna go to sleep, but then I noticed somebody made a game in ssh, so I had to try it. Very cool idea and it alone fits the old tech theme pretty well (tho of course old here is relative). Anyway, gameplay was fun, pretty good for a jam. I did love how you fit everything very neatly in there, I'd say even better than regular graphical games do, but maybe I just like terminals. And UI looks clean and aestetic also.
The feeling of being connected to this shared, ancient network is fantastic. It really captures the atmosphere of a vast, centralized mainframe from the seventies. It's a unique take on strategy that perfectly fits the old tech theme.
I dont fully understand the game yet, but the over all graphics and feel make for something i'm going to enjoy learning and playing. looking forward to convincing some friends to join a campaign hahaha
Being able to play in the terminal is super cool! Its very nice as a background game while things are building and the multiplayer aspect is quite nice too
@ex3d0 your corporation has grown and the other corps are getting nervous ;) thanks for playing!
@dippyshere yeah that’s how i play it too, just running in the background and doing something every now and then. and it’s nice and inconspicuous since it’s just another terminal window 😜
@fancyreckless sorry for keeping you up then ;) really happy you liked the UI!
To make a game available via SSH game is wild, I love it. Really creative take on the theme, and figuring out the fleet and salvage side was fun too. Some descriptions got cut off in my terminal, but very cool entry!
Wow, amazing entry, it has an incredible amount of content and the online multiplayer aspect is awesome! It was a bit overwhelming at first but I got it after a few minutes. I'm curious if you used and AI to help code? I've noticed that this Ludum Dare there's been an abundance of games with a huge number of features, ones that were often prohibitively hard to code beforehand
Been playing for a while (but keep forgetting to come back to it after the building timers finish, no wonder everyone's scores are way higher than mine). Although the current game is already impressive for a jam, I do wish there were a bit more of variety of stuff to do (e.g. defend from not-too-strong NPCs once in a while). For now I'm just upgrading everything and hoping the other corps don't attack me yet 😅
BTW, if anyone else reads this, please join the MXG7U corp :)
@wendel-scardua Oh, that's a good idea maybe in a post-rating version. The more wrecks you loot, the more the NPCs start to take notice of you, or something like that. Yeah, there are plenty of ways to expand on that, including the decision to have only titanium as a minable resource and to leave out research or other systems because there just wasn't enough time. I'm already thinking about tweaking that a bit without overloading the terminal UI too much.
@willops hey, thanks for giving the game a chance despite that first screen. I did think about showing less at the start, but then I would have needed something like dedicated buildings for comms or corporations so the menu entries only show up once you built them, and buildings is where I held back anyway because there is no room left on the screen. I did start playing around with AI tools on this one, mostly in the web frontend though, since that was more of a solution for people who don't want to use ssh and my focus was on the terminal experience. Not 100% convinced yet that it made things faster, it took quite a few iterations until it worked the way I wanted, but hey.
It's actually a bit less complex than it looks, because [Bubble Tea](https://github.com/charmbracelet/bubbletea), [Lip Gloss](https://github.com/charmbracelet/lipgloss) and [Bubbles](https://github.com/charmbracelet/bubbles) take a lot of the work off your hands. Those are Go libraries for building this kind of TUI app, and if that sounds like fun to you, have a look, they are pretty nice. Roughly what you get with React, CSS and a component library like Material UI, just for the terminal 😄
Nice terminal usage! Very useful to have a tutorial. The information density is slightly high, so took me a bit of time to interpret what I am seeing and start playing, but I enjoyed flipping around to checkout each page. Nice terminal visuals and the buzzz sound effects. Would be a nice game to play together in a team with some strategies (sent a scout somewhere really far away just for fun hahaha
I might try and keep playing this for a while after the jam... I can see this causing problems for me later in life in a good way. As an old mudder this has a lot of feels it is tickling. Also loved your web ui vibe.

I'm stunned, this is so cool. I don't know how you had time to make all this for ludum dare! The multiplayer, the intricate systems, the balanced gameplay loop... I've been playing to way too long and I will probably be coming back to beef up my base before my 24h of protection runs out. I can't stop playing, so much fun! It was a little bit overwhelming at first, but after a while it starts making sense. The fact that it's playable from SSH is awesome as well. Would love some music and maybe some way to speed up build times (not just unit assembly). And if I could log in to my web operator from SSH would be great too, couldn't figure out how to do that. Great job, my favorite so far.
Ok, I played "some" more. Finally got my screenshot! I assume you are raid, good grinding 🤝
@darwyn just so you know, there's a bug on the score tables (you can see it on the screenshot above by Marcus): it's hiding the units digit of all scores past 1 million
@marcus-otterstrom I played at the beginning, but then had to step back a bit due to other commitments. So my in-game name is also darwyn. It’s really interesting looking through the logs; there was a huge battle between loken and raid where nearly 50k fighters, 5k frigates, and almost 2k cruisers were destroyed. It’s taken on a dynamic of its own :D
@wendel-scardua Of course, that'll be fixed. It was outside my test range :P
