I enjoyed it. The only minus is the stats menu. It's too small.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD56 → Ant save the Queen

I really like the gold block, they feel so right. I would've like more macro management on the ants, like task them on multiple blocks.
Very nice and cozy game. Amazing artwork! ants.PNG.jpg
Nice game so far. Maybe the ui is a little bit "heavy"
I really liked digging mechanic and managing ants as well as well as playing a tower defense game kept the game exciting
good
Interesting idea, I just think that the execution could be better in a lot of ways. I understand the time constraints were wrong, but it's kind of just venture out, block off the bugs from the queen, build towers, and repeat, I just wish there was something more. Cool idea though.
Like digging mechanic and upgrades, nice =)
amazing gameplay
really liked the upgrading mechanic, felt very satisfying!
Nice polish gameplay but objective is a bit long to accomplish. you did a well job !
It's a nice concept and genre mashup of tower defense and exploration. But as others mentioned before it yet poses little challenge. Finding the larva only takes time and patience.
You managed to add a lot in here in the jam's timeframe. A little rts, a little tower defense, a little mining game. Pretty good entry. It suffers in a couple respects. The difficulty is trivial, except the time it takes to do anything is pretty long. The ants are quite expensive and the turrets are cheap, so surround your queen in turrets and then forget about her. I think it may have benefitted from some way to "keep the plates spinning" or help automate things, like a digging queue you can set your ants to work on for a while, or much denser "nuggets" of resources that they can mine for a continuous supply until they run out, so you can leave one ant busy and use another.
It fits well with the theme, and this ant game did well while playing, good job!
Huzzah, I managed to get to the larva in 1319.73 seconds. It took me a while to realize that the goal was to get to the larva in the bottom right. I was just having fun building turrets and digging. Impressive how much you managed to squeeze into the game in just a weekend. I would have like to have some waypoints or other way to automate what the ants are doing. But other than that, pretty nice little experience!
It's a nice game, but the mechanics need a good polish to have something more interesting.
The turrets blocks the enemies and the enemies dont hit the turrets. So you just have to build 2 turrets blocking the 2 passages to the queen, and some little around here for the rare cases when an enemy spawns near her. Then you don't have to worry at all about defending. A little sad for a game supposed to be half tower-defense, half-exploration.
The pathfinding seems a little clunky. Sometimes the ant wants to make a big turnaround, and sometimes it get stuck in a little corner whereas the destination was 2 square away, with an easy path leading to it.
The resources received when digging a block seems too random. Visually, some blocks seem to give more gold and other seem to give more stones, but it's not really what happens when we dig them.
Sorry, I was not courageous enough to find the larva, because the world is quite big and it's really slow to dig the blocks (a nice additional mechanic would have to buy an ability to dig faster). But I find a golden text with your names on it, that was nice.
Just for the "lore" and the "immersion", other resource names could have been used. Like: stone and food. Because ants don't really care about gold.
Managed to find the larva in 1629s. Turns out it was actually fairly close to the start. Not much of a challenge since it was trivial to disable the invading bugs. I spawned a second ant to activate the shield and all the bugs no longer moved while I explored with the first. The upgrades were nice though there wasn't any reason to spawn more ants. Perhaps if you could queue up dig orders you could let the other ants get on with digging in different directions to explore.
The game is amazing! I was especially impressed by the idea, and the visuals and atmosphere are top-notch. Keep making games, you're a true master at it!
good game, great aesthetic, overall fun experience!
The ant aniamtion was great. The pacing could be a bit faster for a jam game.
The game is enjoyable, but in full-screen mode, the text becomes too small to read comfortably. While I was off exploring, I didn’t notice that my queen had been surrounded by enemies—though surprisingly, they didn’t attack her.
It’s also unclear that walls are meant to be harvested, as they just look like obstacles rather than resources.
