Neat game you made! Had a surprising amount of depth to it, when to slow time when to heal or to shoot really good stuff! The controls on keyboard were a little weird maybe something more standard like wasd, and e,x,c would have been better? It took me a while to understand how to absorb the bullets I dodged. Maybe you could have added a drawing to describe what part could absorb the bullets? And a way to close the game would be great! I absolutely loved your art and the different versions of the bat! The witch is super cute!

Thanks a lot @domenixius ! Yeah I haven't thought too much about the controls for keyboard, I did the game with controller in mind. And yes I planned to do a drawing for the absorbing mechanic at first but got too tired at the end. Thanks for playing and for your words, it means a lot. I'll try your game as soon as I'll have a bit of time in the week !

the game is really well developed, it lacks a little balancing on the enemy. with the entire map invaded by enemies so an end quickly reached. excellent balancing of gameplay was an excellent discovery, continue like this!

The game's balancing is due to the fact I sticked together the level area not too long before submitting. I felt like having a lot of enemies was interesting because they can also destroy themselves, which cancel the points you'd get by shooting them yourself, but it's true that it gets quickly overwhelming. The enemies were meant to have some sort of patterns too, but I was lacking the energy to do this at the moment.

@alexandru-barbanoua thanks a lot for these kind words ! I'm kind of happy for the graphics. I might make a post about it when I'll have a bit of time, but I really enjoyed the workflow to do these. Most of the graphics are handrawn (colorized on the computer tho).

You know I started this, ran out of salt FAST and couldn't work out how to get more. Was playing on keyboard and was about to give up... So I dug out my controller and tried again and it is a different game on pad! I then worked out how to collect the Salt which I totally missed from the above instructions and had a really good play! Gave it several goes. Really nice crunchy sounds on shooting and collecting, tied it together nicely. Solid entry.

@designernap Thanks a lot for your words, it means a lot, particularly from someone in the industry. I just added a line about using a gamepad on the game presentation because you are not the first one mentioning it. Also thanks about the sounds, it's a part about which I was really unsure of my choices. Wanted to add music too but this is a field I'm entirely uneducated in, and had to give up to keep time on other other parts of the game.

Creative and engaging game with a fun absorbing mechanic and cute art. The control scheme could be more intuitive for keyboard users, and the game might benefit from clearer instructions on mechanics like bullet absorption. Balancing enemy numbers and attack patterns could improve gameplay experience. A solid entry with great potential for expansion.

Fun jam, cute characters and very interesting reload mechanic! Also love that you can charge your shot. The game starts at 100 with the screen kinda filled with enemies and continues like that without pause. Would be nice to see more of a progression to it with contrast in how intense it is.

The control scheme for keyboard immediately wounded my soul. If enter is going to be fire, then WASD NEEDS to be an option for movement. If the arrow keys are your only choice, then fire needs to be further away, something like space or z. Otherwise, my hands are squashed together and cramp quickly. I don't have a controller on hand to test, but that scheme looks much more intuitive. Dodging bullets to catch them was really fun, I enjoyed how close I had to cut it to do it effectively. Would have liked it if catching salt gave more ammo, as the current balance draws too many resources compared to how many you are expected to generate. Overall, I was stoked to see the game working as intended and had a pretty good time while my hands still worked. - Braeden, the sound boye
