I'm not sure if there was a bug in the summoning or if I just misunderstood, but it seemed to be quite random when I was able to summon things. I think this is promising, though! Keep it up!

This looks like a nice idea! It took me a moment to realize that summopned monsters also can attack your character. This twist has a lot of potential.
At least on the windows version there is a weird grafical bug, where creatures seem to disappear. Only the shadow can be seen. Looks a bit like the masking of the images goes wrong.
Is there a way to survive for more than a couple of seconds? The enemies usually overrun me pretty quickly.
You might want to change the category of your main Link. I was about to close the tab since I'm not on Linux. Then I decided to at least look at the source and finally found the windows build ;)
Super! I like!
- Interesting concept, loved the enemies jump back - It seemed the enemy units were much more powerful than the player summoned ones (when taking into account their numerical advantage) - The walking felt weird, since the enemies followed you and there wasn't really anywhere to run to, except to run from your own units.
The gameplay mechanics in this game are so intuitive! It's like the controls become an extension of your own instincts. Plus, the art style adds a unique flair that keeps you engaged throughout. Definitely a gem worth exploring!
Ah, a Raylib game. I used to use Raylib until I got tired of rewriting the same setup-from-scratch code for things like Ludum Dare, which is why I switched to Godot for this Ludum Dare game jam. The game is pretty neat, but I found it hard to continue because I would reach a point where my summons would spawn camp the enemy units once they appeared. I'm not sure if I needed to play longer for more difficulty, or if the difficulty remained the same. I think adding some sort of progression system would've been nice. A point system or number of enemy units defeated would've been cool too. Good work!
Excellent idea for a game and nice take on the theme. Obviously more cards, effects or enemies would make this a lot more fun as you mentioned yourself! Maybe adding some rock paper scissors to it, enemies good against boars but bad against imps, and so on. That would make saving the cards in your hand more of a strategy.
Or by making the cards have a summon effect feels very fitting and makes positioning more important! Like the imps have a small explosion when summoned, or the boar comes charging in.
As it stands the latest version on itch is very easy, I just summoned whenever I could and never got hurt. The difficulty curve needs to be faster, but balance you could probably sense yourself. The concept is strong, I hope you continue! Great first LD!
I was intrigued by the unique gameplay mechanics of this game. The art style is unique, and the intuitive controls make the gameplay feel natural.
I encountered a bug where creatures would disappear, leaving only their shadows visible. Additionally, the enemy units seemed to be more powerful than the player's summoned ones, making survival challenging.
Overall, it's a promising game with a strong concept that could be further developed to create a more balanced and engaging experience.
Nice job!
Please can you vote on my game too?
Promising concept with intriguing summoning mechanics, though the execution seems inconsistent, possibly due to bugs. The strategic potential is notable but could be enhanced with clearer mechanics and better balancing between player and enemy units.
i love the sprite art for the game. I also like the simplicity of the auto battler. I think with something more than receiving random cards this could be a pretty fun little game. good entry!
Good game, quite fun to play
