I like the graphics, really retro vibe
The graphics and vibes are awesome! The game is simple, but those made it enjoyable.
The music is fitting, but it got a bit repetitive due to being such a short loop.
I love that you're able to lean forwards and smash the table when you lose. 10/10
Interesting alternative to rock-paper-scissors !
The rendering and visual effects are excellent.
The only criticism I could find is that the transitions are a little slow
Really loved the old playstation graphics! Good Job!
I lost and the when I restarted the text was showing my last enemy. I like the ambience and the game, i don't really see how it fits the theme, but nice little game nonetheless!
Love the leaning in thing illustration and the whole atmosphere of the game, well done!
My constructive feedback would be to speed up the text (not everyone will want to read our brilliant jokes, sadly) and the resolution was so low I had a hard time reading, even though I played on itch
Overall a pretty solid entry!
This is so cute and so much fun :D
Very funny game, made me laught. The retro vibe is realy well made. Great job!
Thanks for the feedback everyone! Love that people are enjoying retro vibes!
This retro picture is really good to poke me, now just a simple rock-paper-scissors game, but it makes me think that maybe it can become a rouglike type of game?
@yangsang I definitely see a potential! After Ludum Dare 55 dust settles, I might restart development to fix some issues people commented on, expand on items (initial idea had more usable items, but only two were left in this build)! Adding more enemies is super easy too!
Okay, this is very nice. I love the attention to detail; actually had to giggle when i saw the leaning in-illustration and giigle a little more when i lost my first round and rage ensued. As people before me already pointed out the style is amazing and I'd love to see more of it. That said, I have some (very) minor notes:
- Getting handed a drink and a meal feels like you can use both. Maybe keep the drink on the table from the start and only slide in the meal to not have the drink look like something you can interact with while still keeping the style of the scene. Or (thats probably what you had in mind in the first place) let the player do something with the drink, even if its just a minor thing like tipping it over or something. - The audio loop needs to be longer or maybe have the speakers have a little button and red light on them to turn it off, it gets slightly distracting after a very short time - I'd make the (invisible) borders of the text boxes slightly smaller; text leaves the (visible) text box a little before breaking to a new line - Restarting is kinda weird: You have the big arrow, but the sound indicates theres still text being printed in the background. You cant interact with anything and it really takes a little too long to get control back. I actually thought I had to restart the whole thing before it went back to the game. So I'd either make this skippable somehow or maybe use a loading bar instead: The icon feels very "you can do something here"-ish since its usually used on buttons.
But those little things aside: very, _very_ nice game. Looking forward to your next entry! :)
Love the aesthetics and the attention to details with smashing the table, moving the mouse etc. The music loop could be a bit longer.
@shanzhai Thanks a lot for the feedback! I really appreciate it! I want to comment on your points
1. This was on my todo list and I even have a unused code to shake the glass a little if you try to click on it while not playing against Allegedly Cheating Man, but time crunch didn't allow me to add it in time. I want to come back to this game to add final paint of polish, this suggestion will go in! 2. I agree, while testing builds my girlfriend asked for a mute button also, but never go to do that. In future build you will be able to adjust volume with the right speaker! 3. Also was on to do list, make dialogue box expand along with text box size, but forgot how to properly setup a sprite for that and never did it. I'll try to add this also! 4. This is because of some hotfixes I made (disabling input during transitions) and one happens in the background, even if restart screen is selected. will fix (and probably cause other issues :D)
Thanks again!
It's really quite an interesting game. I can say that you have done a great job! I really liked the style of the game and its mechanics :0
I like the 3D style and animations of it, the sound effects are fitting aswell. The song loop could be a bit longer and the text box could be faster otherwise great work!
the game is very simple but still very fun, the models are well made and fit the aesthetic, the dialogue that appears is also pretty funny
I feel myself like im playing CS GO with youngsters who kick my ass. Really great visuals!
Artstyle is great! It remind me some nice old style horror games which I Love. Gameplay is also enjoyable
I really liked this game! You guys are great!
Making rock paper scissors into the duel of the century. Gave me a good laugh :)
I would have like if there was a bit more into the gameplay, but else I liked the game. The visuals, sounds and atmosphere is all really good in this game. Overall a pretty good jam game. Well done.
It's pretty funny, looks good and sounds good too. Wish there were more levels though
Cool entry! Really a fan of this art style.
Really good vibe on this one, it's tactile and reminded me of Inscryption. Takes me back to playing on PCs in the 90s!
It is mostly just rock paper scissors so there wasn't too much of a hook after the initial few games - would be interesting to see if there was a way to inject more strategy to it.
Graphics are cool and overall mood is in my taste. Rock paper scissors is solid base mechanic but the luck of unique or new turn made it boring for me.
Amazing visual! Great work!
My game crashed after beating Computer77.
I like the vibes and the graphics. A tad slow, and also it disappoints when you conclude that it doesn't seem to be more than rock-paper-scissors. Would have been more palatable if you could get through the game faster.
It was not obvious that the food gives you one HP – if there was any feedback, it was not felt.
Thank you for sharing!
Really fun, I enjoyed the rage animation on a defeat. The character movement/ zoom works really well. Good, clear and simple tutorial and really consistent mood (just reminded me of being a kid in the 90s) Flatbeat!!
Love the graphics and the meta style. Bit annoying that you have to start from the tutorial opponent again if you lose what is essentially a game of luck.
